Spring skincare essentials

spring skincare

Although we got hit with some snow earlier this week, spring is well on its way (hello double digits this weekend!).  Once the weather starts to warm up, my skin is out in full force, and to keep it looking fresh, moisturized, and smooth I use a variety of products to keep me looking in tip-top shape.

Here are my must have products for spring!

Clarisonic Mia

I have always had pretty good skin to begin with, but once I started using my Clarisonic Mia, I have noticed my complexion looking smoother, fresher, and just all-around better.  I have the Clarisonic Mia in the purple (it comes in a variety of different shades), but there is also the Mia 2, Aria, and the original.  The most affordable one is the Mia, which is travel-sized and comes in one speed, which is all I need.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser

I like to pair this with my Clarisonic Mia for the deepest clean.  Put a dollop on your Clarisonic brush head and scrub away!  This cleanser is a pH-balanced formula that rapidly dissolves dirt and makeup while deep-cleaning pores.

C$26 for an 8 oz. bottle at Sephora.com (buy it through Ebates for 8.0% cash back!)

Clinique All About Eyes Serum

After you cleanse and tone, apply an eye cream to your eyes to keep that area looking fresh and revitalized.  This lightweight eye cream diminishes the appearance of puffiness, darkness, and fine lines.  A drop of the product goes a long way so a jar of this will last awhile.

C$37 for 0.5 oz. at Sears Canada (gift with purchase happening now!)

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

This is my holy grail moisturizer because it makes my skin look and feel great.  This best-selling cult favourite does the trick and then some and absorbs quickly into your skin.

C$31 for 4.2 oz. at Sears Canada (gift with purchase happening now!)

Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream

Want some coverage but wanna keep it light?  I love Garnier’s BB Cream, which hydrates, corrects wrinkles and imperfections, protects, evens, and brightens skin tone.  For those days where I don’t feel like wearing any makeup but still want some something light, I reach for this product, which works great and is affordable.

C$12.97 at Wal-Mart Canada.

Evian Brumisateur

This mineral water spray is like a miracle in the bottle.  With each misting, this product hydrates, tones, and refreshes normal, dry, oily and sensitive skin.  I use it to set makeup, cool me off after the gym/after a hot day, and refresh makeup.

C$11 for 5 oz. at Sephora.com (buy it through Ebates for 8.0% cash back!)

Jergen’s Natural Glow self tanner

Being a self-proclaimed self-tan connoisseur, I originally used this when it first came out many years back.  I liked it back then but found the smell of it to be a bit overpowering, so I tried out many other ones since.  I received a sample of this a few weeks back and noticed that the awful smell it left you with was gone.  It also left me looking bronzed and beautiful.  A must for this upcoming summer!

C$5.96 at Wal-Mart Canada.

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish

Before you apply your self tanner make sure you exfoliate your skin first to get an even application.  I love Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish because it’s not too rough and leaves your skin feeling oh so smooth.

C$39 for a 200 ml tube at Kiehl’s

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps lotion

I absolutely love this moisturizer!  Not only does your skin feel super smooth days after you apply it, but the product absorbs into skin at an incredible rate.

C$24 for a 125 ml bottle at Kiehl’s

eos lip balms

Not only are these handy with their cute little ergonomical packaging, but these balms are a quick fix to dry, chapped lips.  I have multiples of these that go with me everywhere, whether it’s in my gym bag, my purse, or beside my bed, I don’t go far without my eos lip balm.

C$6 at Chapters Indigo

NOTD: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet

mint title

Perfect for spring, I have been sporting Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish in Mint Sorbet.

This polish really reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream.  The colour is very fresh so it’s perfect for the warmer weather.

I did find the colour a little streaky, so it took two to three coats to make it opaque.  I used OPI’s Base Coat and Poshe Top Coat.  I did have to touch up a few fingers but this colour lasts quite some time.

swatch

If you are looking for an affordable mint nail polish I would highly recommend this one.  I have a couple mints but nothing in this shade.  This one is more of a green mint, whereas the other ones I have, like Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, lean more towards a bluer shade.

Have you tried Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet?  If so, what were your thoughts?

Spring skincare: Sears Canada Spring 2013 GWP

clinique title

Yay to free!

Sears Canada has their spring Clinique gift with purchase (GWP) going on right now until May 13.  Since I am an avid Clinique user I typically wait to pick something up until a GWP hits.  Not that I need any more eyeshadows or dark lipsticks from them, but free is free, right?

This time around you have to spend $31 to receive the gift and it includes:

  • Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser (30 ml)
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (30 ml)
  • Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator (15 ml)
  • Clinique Colour Palette (includes two eyeshadows and a blush)
  • Lash Doubling Mascara (3.4 ml)
  • Different Lipstick (4 g)
  • Cosmetics bag

eyeshadows

Like a lot of their GWPs you have a choice of which colour palette you want.  There is a choice of either pinks or purples (colour palette and lipstick).  Both my mom and I got the gift so I chose the purple one and she chose the pink.  We swapped the lipsticks though (it comes in A Different Grape and Rose Aglow).

I really like this GWP because aside from the lipstick and mascara, I can really use the rest of the stuff.  I was in the need for another Dramatically Different lotion, so I didn’t need to buy one because I got one in here (plus I swapped my moms for the Moisture Surge, so I got two).  The palette is really pretty as well and it’s always nice to get makeup instead of just skincare.

The only thing I didn’t like was the lipstick.  I wish Clinique would switch up the colours every once in a while (although the red they gave out last GWP was to die for), because it’s always the same dark colour that I never wear.  Throw in a baby pink or a nude!  These are colours that are totally on trend.  I’m pretty sure I have the two colours given out in this GWP from like 10 years ago because they always recycle them.

If you live in Canada and need something from Clinique, stop by your Sears Canada counter because I think this one is totally work it.
