I have been loving how the beauty industry has really been making a positive move towards more eco-friendly and clean products.
To be honest, I have never really thought about the environmental damage that packaging from hair products can do. Garnier has recently released a new shampoo and not only is it different but it also has environmentally friendly packaging.
The Garnier Whole Blend Shampoo Bars (C$7.49) uses Garnier’s technology to cleanse like their liquid shampoos but come in an innovative bar format. These bars, available in four blends, are formulated with less water and come in zero-plastic packaging.
The shampoo bars last up to two months and are formulated with 94 per cent plant-based ingredients. They are also free of preservatives, silicones, soaps and dyes. There is the Honey Treasures Repairing Shampoo Bar, the Oat Delicacy Softening Shampoo Bar, the Coconut & Aloe Vera Hydrating Shampoo Bar for Normal Hair, and the Argan & Camellia Nourishing Shampoo Bar.
To be honest, I have never tried a shampoo bar before and you might be wondering why you would get this as opposed to regular shampoo. These fast-rinsing formulas are 97 per cent biodegradable and are suitable for those ages three and up. You would use these just like your regular liquid shampoo. Just wet your hair and lather it with the soap from root to tip. Follow up with a conditioner and you’re all set.
I really love the idea of these and they would be great for travel as well since you don’t have the risk of them spilling or leaking. I also am going to use them to clean my makeup brushes.
Have you tried Garnier’s new shampoo bars yet?

When it comes to skincare brands sold at Sephora, Fresh ranks highly on my list.
I’ve been using Fresh products for years now and always find them to be really great for my skin. Some notable faves are the Sugar lip balms and the Soy cleanser.
Now their products can be on the pricier side of things, however, when they offer gift sets they are usually of really good value and the best time to pick up your favourite Fresh products (and try some new ones in the process).
For spring they have released a number of gift sets which allow you to explore the line and also try out items that might be new to you.
Sugar Lemon Bodycare Gift Set
Okay so I had no clue that Fresh has body wash and body lotion.
If you’re like me and saying to yourself that you need to try these ASAP then you’ll be happy to hear that they have a gift set available which allows you to try both products for a great price.
The Sugar Lemon Bodycare Gift Set (C$49, valued at $70) has a full-sized shower gel and body lotion in the Sugar Lemon scent (which smells so delish!). This body care set contains shea butter and vitamins C and E to cleanse and moisturize skin. You can either use them separately or pair them together for soft and supple skin that smells absolutely amazing.
This gift set is perfect to pick up for yourself or to gift to someone (would make a wonderful housewarming present!).
Bestselling Face Mask Gift Set
If you love Fresh’s face masks, then you’ll need to pick up the Bestselling Face Mask Gift Set (C$95, valued at $136).
This gift set includes three full sizes of their bestselling face masks. Included in here is the Rose Face Mask, which hydrates and tones; the Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask to smooth and soften; and the Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask to intensely moisturize overnight for a firmer complexion.
All the masks come in a 30 ml size and are perfect to gift as a set or to break them up. I’ve used these masks a lot over the years and love the formulas that they come out with. I also love how they are all different. For the overnight one you can definitely use this every night instead of your moisturizer to wake up with more firmer and glowing skin.
Cleanse and Moisturize Duo Gift Set
Like I said, I love their Soy Face Cleanser, so any gift set that includes it will be a winner in my books. If you are looking for travel or deluxe sizes of their iconic products then take a look at the Cleanse and Moisturize Duo Gift Set (C$33, valued at $47).
This gift set includes a 50 ml of the Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash, along with a 15 ml of the Lotus Antioxidant Daily Moisturizer. These bestselling products are great for everyday wear as they help with cleansing your skin and then preventing the first signs of aging.
I was actually in the need for some new travel-sized goodies so these came just in time to replenish my travel skincare bag.
Fresh has a few more sets available via their site and Sephora. As you can see, the value of these sets is incredible and they typically retail for the price of one product alone. If you love Fresh products, make sure to stock up while these sets are still available!
What’s your favourite Fresh product?p

I haven’t really talked much about deodorant on here.
Okay, so to be very transparent, ever since the pandemic started, I have barely worn deodorant.
I know, it’s gross, but hear me out. Every since March 2020, I have been working at home anyways, and most of the things I do (aside from now working out, I’m back at the gym), I do at home. Of course, if I’m going out for dinner or something I’ll put on deodorant, but for the most part, I hardly wear it. Also, with that being said, if I do find myself starting to smell, I will also apply it, but for the most part, some body spray or perfume does the trick.
Now when it comes to deodorant, I think we have all heard about the health concerns of deodorants found in the drugstore, the ones that have aluminum and the chance that they can cause certain types of cancers. Natural is best, and I have tried my fair share of natural deodorants, but when they first came out, i do have to say, they were even worse than not wearing deodorant.
Well, times have changed.
I was recently contacted by a company that has a natural deodorant, but even cooler than that, it actually comes housed in a zero-waste packaging.
Human Essentials is a natural deodorant line that offers up odour protection and is formulated with natural ingredients like zinc ricinoleate, which helps to eliminate body odour and protects against odour-causing bacteria forming on your skin. Now note, it is not an antiperspirant, which is designed to reduce sweating. Sweating is your body’s way of naturally cooling it typically when it comes to “deodorants”, for women they are usually antiperspirants. This deodorant also doesn’t have any aluminum, phthalates, or preservatives, so it’s healthy for your body.
Human Essentials comes in four different fragrances, all of them made with essential oils. There is Guava, Sea Salt, and Coconut; Mountain Pine and Eucalyptus; Neroli, Pink Peppercorn, and Bergamot; and Desert Lime, Mandarin, and Vanilla. As you can imagine, they really do smell as good as they sound.
Okay, so there are tons of natural deodorants on the market nowadays but what makes this particular line so unique is actually the container it comes in. When you remove the cardboard lid, you’ll notice tabs that wrap all the way up the stick. Instead of a twist packaging, this canister is actually designed to be peeled away, so as the deodorant stick wears down you just peel away the biodegradable tab to reveal more product. Once you’re at the bottom, just throw the empty canister in the trash or compost. From beginning to end, the whole experience of using this deodorant is both good for you and the planet.
You can find Human Essentials online via their website. They currently only ship to Canada and US, but I do have say I don’t think I have ever been so impressed with a deodorant before and I know this is going to be my new go-to.
Do you wear natural deodorants?
