We all have a skincare routine, so it makes total sense that you would also have a lip care routine, right?
I’ve been using Chapstick ever since I was a kid. The brand has actually been an expert in lips for more than 125 years (crazy, right?!), and just like how I have evolved over the years, so have they (they have more than just Cherry Chapstick nowadays).
Brand new to the brand in Canada is their Total Hydration collection – an advanced skincare line just for lips! The whole line is made using premium botanical ingredients to nourish and enhance your lips including botanical oils and Vitamins C and E and allows you to mix and match products to create the perfect lip care routine for you.
The Chapstick Total Hydration collection consists of five different products – a lip scrub, lip oil, and three lip balms that were created to work together and separately to get rid of dried, cracked lips and help to keep your lips in tip-top shape.
I highly recommend starting your Chapstick Total Hydration routine with the Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub, which is available in two flavours, Peppermint and Sugar Plum. This scrub is enriched with naturally sourced ingredients, including shea butter, coconut oil, sugar crystals, and vitamin E to exfoliate and smooth lips prior to your next steps.
I love using this scrub first to get rid of any dead skin on my lips and then will go in with either one of the lip balms or the lip oil to leave my lips feeling nourished and moisturized. This scrub is also great for your lips prior to applying lipstick since it leaves them nice and smooth.
Next up, I love to grab the Chapstick Total Hydration Vitamin Enriched Lip Oil. This oil is also available in two flavours (Sweet Nectar and Peach Tea) and is a vitamin-enriched lip oil that is formulated with vitamin C, E, and Omegas 3-6-9 to replenish and moisturize. It feels super lightweight on the lips and its non-sticky formula glides on for a comfortable wear. It also leaves behind a slight sheen, so it works wonders as a gloss as well if you want to layer it on top of one of your favourite lipsticks.
Chapstick also has three different types of balms to choose from in the Total Hydration line, including Moisture + Tint, 3-in-1, and Natural Moisture.
The Chapstick Total Hydration Moisture + Tint is a tinted lip balm available in three shades (Merlot, Rose Petal, and Coral Blush) and is also enriched with Omega 3-6-9 rich oils and shea butter to hydrate lips and give them a hint of colour. I love using this product when I’m out and about (I typically reach for Rose Petal since it’s a pretty pale pink) and want a hint of colour, but don’t want to wear a lipstick. It also pairs well for beach or pool days, when I’m wearing CC cream or a tinted moisturizer and some mascara.
For really dry lips, I love using the Chapstick Total Hydration 3-in-1 Lip Balm, which is available in two scents (Coconut and Original). The 3-in-1 lip balm provides up to eight hours of moisture for healthy and smooth lips. The biggest difference in this formula is that it’s aimed to moisturize, renew, and protect the lips. The botanical moisturizing complex hydrates the lips, whereas the age-defying formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Finally, this balm helps to improve damaged appearance of lips and renew the moisture barrier. I love using this one before bed since it provides benefits to my lips all night long.
The last balm is the Chapstick Total Hydration Natural Moisture formula, which is available in Mint, Citrus, and Vanilla. This particular formula contains 100 per cent naturally sourced avocado oil, coconut oil, and shea butter to help replenish the lips moisture barrier. This lip balm is the ultimate product for extremely chapped lips and those needing a little extra TLC.
Depending on how I’m feeling that day, I love to mix and match these different products to create my own custom lip routine. I also want to note that all Chapstick Total Hydration products contain no parabens or synthetic preservatives.
I’ve said it on more than one occasion on this blog that if I were to pick one beauty product to take with me to a desert island, it would be lip balm. I’m the kind of person that always has to have a lip balm on me since my lips get so dry so fast. With so many options to choose from, I love how Chapstick has created an advanced skincare routine for my lips.
Give your lips some love and definitely check out the Chapstick Total Hydration collection, which is available exclusively at Walmart Canada, both in-store and online. I would love to hear what’s included in your lip care regime and how this line has helped you step up your beauty routine.

What does Sephora, Herschel, Converse, Puma and Levi’s all have in common? They’ve all done a collection with Hello Kitty!
I’ve had a thing for Hello Kitty for years now. I don’t what it is about the cute little cat with no mouth, but whenever a brand comes out with a collab with the popular Sanrio character, I just go nuts (and I’m not even a cat person!). In honour of Hello Kitty’s 45th birthday, Levi’s is the newest brand to take a crack at a capsule collection featuring the cutie and it’s super kawaii!
The Hello Kitty X Levi’s collection dropped on August 1 and features a number of items in the line, including jeans, a denim jacket, t-shirts, a fanny pack, and more. In fact, if you’re totally digging the current ’80s and ’90s trends, then you’ll love this.
I received a couple items from the collection and instantly died of cuteness as soon as I opened the package. There’s a few different t-shirts to choose from, but I’m totally into the Levi’s x Hello Kitty Ringer Tee, which is a white t-shirt featuring red bands along the neckline and sleeves, with an image of Hello Kitty holding a Levi’s sign. They also have another tee which is black and features Hello Kitty with her friends standing on top of the Levi’s logo.
Another stand-out item from the collection, and the one I just had to have in my wardrobe, is the Levi’s x Hello Kitty Dad Trucker Jacket (C$148). This oversized denim jacket is one of Levi’s more iconic items and features a fun Hello Kitty twist! On the back there is a giant “Hello Kitty” logo across the back with some patches of HK and her mouse friend on the front. I have another Levi’s denim jacket already from the HBC collection they did a couple years back (or was it last year?) and it’s one of my favourite jackets. I have the Hello Kitty one in a small, but I do recommend sizing down since it fits large (the small is oversized on me). My HBC one is an XS and find it fits perfectly (with even a little room in that one as well).
If you wanted to complete the collection and go Hello Kitty crazy, the brand also released a pair of their iconic denim featuring motifs as well. The Levi’s x Hello Kitty Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans (C$178) is the brand’s highest high rise pair with a classic straight leg. These special-edition ones feature a red leather patch at the back waist, as well as bow patches on the legs and Hello Kitty and friends patches on the pocket area.
In addition to clothing, the collection also features a bandana, a fanny pack (or as they call it, a “sling”), and a tote.
If you are Hello Kitty crazed like me, then you definitely need to pick up some of these items before they sell out (some already are). Also, Levi’s in other countries have a couple more items as part of the collection, but honestly, the standout for me is definitely the denim jacket since it’s a staple piece with a fun little twist (and totally show-stopping!).
You can find these items in your local Levi’s store, Levi’s online, or Hudson’s Bay. Act quick though, I know this collection is gonna sell out!
Are you planning on picking up any items from the Hello Kitty x Levi’s collection?

Ah yes, primers. The hidden superheroes of our makeup routines.
Do primers really work? Do you really need a $40 primer for your makeup to last longer? It may seem like a gimmicky item, but when I don’t wear primers, I can tell there is a difference.
Primers go way beyond just making your foundation last longer on your skin. Nowadays there are so many different primers out there targeted for different skin concerns. Have big pores? Redness? Dullness? Dry skin? Uneven skin tone? Just like how you would prime your wall before painting it, you should also prime your face before applying makeup.
Anyways, since primers have definitely become a league of their own, I wanted to share some new ones to hit my collection lately. Since, you know, you can never have enough of them and every primer works differently for every individual.
So here goes…
Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer
One of my favourite skincare lines recently came out with a primer!
Unfortunately for us Canadians, Tula is no longer shipping to Canada for the time being, but if you have a trip scheduled to the States (or a U.S. mailbox), then definitely add their new primer to your order!
The Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer ($34) helps to smooth the appearance of uneven skin tone, neutralizes the look of redness, locks in hydration, and creates a base for your makeup. The formula, perfect for pretty much any skin tone, includes the usual Tula ingredients which make their products so amazing, including probiotics, prebiotics, turmeric, chia seeds, and more to not only help your skin look its best, but also feel its best too!
The great thing about this primer is that you can wear it so many ways. You can obviously wear it under makeup or it can be worn by itself since it dispenses white, but then once blended, it releases glow particles that create a warm-toned base to blur out any imperfections and give you a sun-kissed glow.
You guys know I love Tula products and I’ll be sharing a few more new ones over the coming weeks with you guys. If you are interested in picking up this primer, use my code SHAYNA for 20% off your order!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer
Just like Tula, I love anything and everything Fenty Beauty as well.
Since I already have the full Fenty Pro Filt’r face line (foundation, concealer, setting powder), I absolutely needed their primer when I saw they released one (I have their eye primer and LOVE it!).
The Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer (C$42) is a primer for combination to oily skin that helps to instantly mattify your face and extend the wear of your foundation.
This white primer joins the brand’s other primer (Instant Retouch Primer) but is designed for oily to combination skin since it helps tone down shine. In addition to providing with you a matte base for your foundation it also smoothes the look of pores and helps your foundation last longer and blend out more evenly.
The formula includes Blue Agave Extract and blurring powders to help give you the perfect base for the rest of your routine.
I have normal skin so I may not be the perfect candidate to try this out and tell you if it does its job properly, but that didn’t stop me from using it and loving it. Typically I apply my makeup after my skincare routine in the morning when my face is looking a little shiny anyways. The formula just melts into your skin and I found it helped create the perfect base which made my makeup last longer on my skin.
Stila Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Primer
Okay, so this one I have actually chatted about before (and dedicated an entire post to) but I had to mention it again since I’m still digging it and I truly think it’s one of the best ones out there.
The Stila Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Primer (C$47) is available in two tones (illuminating and bronzing) and has a variety of functions to give you the perfect makeup application. First thing you’ll notice when you apply this is how refreshing it is on the skin, thanks to its whipped gel formula. In fact, it contains over 70 per cent water making it a nice treat on your skin (it also has some natural botanicals thrown in for the most comfortable wear… seriously, it’s so refreshing!).
As for the actual priming factor, this product has light-reflecting pearls which add a natural-looking glow with a blurring, skin-perfecting effect. You’ll notice that once you apply your foundation over top it will go on so smoothly. Sometimes with primers you will feel a tackiness to the skin, but not with this one, it literally makes all your other beauty products just glide on the skin.
What I love about this primer is the fact that it’s so moisturizing and refreshing on the skin when you apply it. It truly feels like a moisturizer and just glides on the skin, leaving it hydrated and primed to take on your day. Best of all, it comes in the most stunning glass container that is totally excessive but looks super cute on your vanity.
Although you don’t see the primers on your skin, they are definitely a must in anyone’s makeup collection. I also want to note that these primers are a little on the pricey side, but if you are looking for one more affordable, I’ve also been digging the CoverGirl TruBlend Base Business primers, which come in a variety of different formulas for multiple skin concerns.
They may be an investment, but if you’re spending your hard-earned cash on makeup products anyways, might as well pick one up that will help your other ones perform their best.
What’s your favourite primer?
