So fab: Revlon So Fierce mascara

Ah yes, mascara. It either works or it doesn’t.

Very rarely will a mascara truly blow me away, but I’m always open to trying out new ones from a variety of different brands. As I learned quite quickly, just because a mascara is $40 doesn’t mean that it will be a fit for more lashes.

Revlon So Fierce mascara

The newest mascara I’ve tried is Revlon’s new So Fierce mascara. This mascara actually launched earlier this summer as part of a collection with eyeliners (review coming soon as well!).  This mascara is designed to give you length and volume, with Revlon saying that it will give you a lash extension look. It’s clump free, flake free, and smudge proof and is designed to last up to 24 hours of wear.

The formula is infused with lash-lifting polymers, paraffin, and rice-bran waves to build lashes up to their fullest potential. The wand is rather thin and long and has 252 multi-layered bristles to comb through every lash and coat them from root to tip.

This mascara retails for C$11.99 at Shoppers and comes in three different shades.  I received the black version and thought it did an okay job. It didn’t blow me away, but I thought it was an okay mascara. I do like the brush since it allows you to really coat and grab every lash. I think this mascara would make a great layering mascara to use with your fave.

Falling for matte: Mary Kay fall 2019 limited-edition matte lipsticks

I love a good matte lipstick.

Although the matte liquid lipstick is my lipstick of choice, I don’t mind a traditional formula every once in a while. I’ve been a fan of Mary Kay’s lipsticks in general ever since I tried them and was excited to get some new fall colours in my collection recently.

As part of their fall beauty releases, the direct-buy brand released two limited-edition shades in their matte lipstick formula. Both shades are super fall appropriate and will be perfectly paired with your best fall plaid, tall boots, and pumpkin spice latte.

Mary Kay fall 2019 limited-edition matte lipsticks

First shade is Spice of Life, a dusty rose shade that would look stunning on darker skin tones. This one is a quintessential fall shade and pairs nicely with a variety of different makeup looks. The second colour, Tenacious Taupe, is a taupe nude colour that I really love. This one looks darker in the bullet than it applies and I love the matte finish.

As for wear, these glide on the lips and deliver pigmented colour in a matte finish. I do find that these stay on quite well, but I would recommend carrying the lipstick with you if you’re wearing it out for the day or night.

Both lipsticks retail for C$20 each and are limited edition for fall. Although I’m more partial to Tenacious Taupe, both are truly stunning and would make a perfect addition to your makeup collection.

Perfect canvas: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Foundation and Magic Vanish Colour Correctors

With NYFW officially over, it’s time to hop right back into our regularly-scheduled content!

I probably have around 15 to 20 foundations, but no matter how many I receive I am always so excited to try out new formulas and releases from brands. You guys know I have a lot of Charlotte Tilbury products, and for the most part, I’ve loved everything that the British makeup artist has come out with. The one product I didn’t have in my collection from her yet though.. a foundation.

Luckily she just released a new one, the Magic Airbrush Foundation (C$53), and the brand was so kind to send over one of the shades. This was the foundation I actually used during Fashion Week, and I have to say that it totally blew me away.

The Magic Airbrush Foundation, available in a staggering 44 different shades from light to dark, delivers flawless and poreless-looking skin. The formula is high-coverage and promises to say on all day, feel weightless, and give you a natural matte finish.

This foundation actually goes deeper than just giving you amazing-looking skin. The formula includes skincare ingredients, including Magic REPLEXIUM to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 22 per cent after eight weeks of use, MossCellTec No. 1 to boost hydration by up to 216 per cent, and AirCool for an instant fresh feel while you wear it.

Like I said, I completely fell in love with this foundation. Not only did it make my skin look amazing, but I really put it to the test, running around and sweating during Fashion Week. This foundation not only didn’t budge or smudge, but it also stayed in place all day long, even while running between shows and waiting for the subways (the brand does say it’s sweat proof, humidity proof, water proof, and transfer resistant… and trust me, I put all those claims to the test). The finish was very high coverage and it didn’t feel heavy on the skin. I would also say that it’s very breathable and comfortable once applied. My skin didn’t feel tight or irritable after wearing it for long periods of time.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish Colour Corrector open

I paired the new foundation with her new Magic Vanish Colour Corrector (C$38), which I got in the shade Medium. The Magic Vanish Colour Corrector comes in a teeny-tiny compact that is designed to colour correct, neutralize, and smooth out pigmentation and brighten the appearance of the under-eye area. Apply this product with your finger after you do your foundation and before your concealer to correct any pigmentation poking through and to smooth out the look of your skin.

What really makes it magic is the ingredients in the product. The formula includes flavonoids to help disguise the appearance of under-eye bags, carnauba wax for a smooth application, mica for a brightening effect, and microspheres to make it all blendable.

The Magic Vanish Colour Corrector is available in three other shades as well: fair, tan, and deep. Tan and deep are red coloured and are designed for those who have a darker skin tone. I don’t think that this product is that necessary for most people’s makeup bags. If you suffer from intense pigmentation or dark under eyes, then I would look at picking it up, but I think a concealer would do for most people out there.

Overall, I love these two products (especially the foundation) and highly recommend you stop by the Charlotte Tilbury counter in case you are on the hunt for new face products, or just want to try something new and fabulous.
