Scalp saviours: Kerastase Specifique Restorative Hair Care collection for sensitive & itchy scalps

I don’t know about you but I find in the winter time my scalp gets itchy and flaky.

Dry, flaky scalps run in my family so this was always something that I had to deal with. Truthfully, it doesn’t really bother me that much but I would love something that helps to target this problem. Enter Kerastase’s newest line, their Specifique Restorative Hair Care collection.

This collection of hair care products is aimed to help with sensitive and itchy scalps. There are four items in this collection and each one will help with dry and sensitive skin on the head area.

Start first with the Bain Divalent Balancing Shampoo (C$46), with is a balancing shampoo for oily roots, sensitized scalps. It is a light formula that contains amino acids and Vitamin B6 to balance the scalp’s oiliness. It purifies scalps to reduce excess oil and odour and adds volume to flat hair as well. In addition, it also helps with detangling and nourishes hair, leaving it soft and shiny.

The added amino acid helps to balance the hair fiber to gently cleanse, whereas the Vitamin B6 protects the hair from external aggressors.

For a conditioner, they have two masks available. The Masque Rehydratant Hair Mask (C$72) ultra-moisturizes hair and is perfect for dry hair.

This mask is a lightweight gel formula that instantly rebalances hair’s hydration levels while also restoring hair quality. Apply it to the hair and leave it on for a few months before washing out, revealing soft hair with a lightweight finish.

This mask also features amino acids to balance the hair fiber to cleanse. It also has ceramide in it to help improve the fiber’s ability to resist breakage and lock in moisture.

Their other mask, Argile Equilibrante Cleansing Clay (C$46) is a mask designed for dry and damaged hair. It features a purifying clay that is ultra-rich to leave you with soft and nourishes hair.

This clay mask cleanses and purifies the scalp and helps to balance the sebum level on the hair. It also helps with removing pollution and impurities without stripping. As a result of use, your scalp will feel more invigorated and refreshed, and hair will be more voluminous.

This mask also includes amino acids with the star ingredient being kaolin clay, which absorbs excess sebum and pollution.

If you are wondering what the difference is between the two, to me it seems like the Masque Rehydratant Hair Mask would be a more luxurious and heavy-duty mask compared to the Cleansing Clay one. I would use the Rehydratant one maybe once every two weeks or as needed, whereas the clay one I would use maybe once a week.

Finally, for after the shower, take a look at the Serum Potentialiste (C$80), which is a scalp serum with antioxidant properties. This serum is great to use for unbalanced scalps, whether its normal, dry, sensitive or oily.

You apply this via three drops directly on the scalp. It helps to defend against the feeling of an uncomfortable and dry scalp. The fast-absorbing gel texture helps to soothe and leave your scalp feeling healthy and hydrated. Apply it for its soothing and more balanced properties.

The formula includes 10 per cent Bifidus Prebiotics, which respects the microbiome, as well as one per cent Vitamin-C derivative, which neutralizes the effect of daily oxide aggressors.

I find this serum to be very unique and think it’s great for just about anyone since dry scalp can be a common problem. If you suffer from scalp irritation or dandruff then this is great to pick up as well.

I really love this collection and think its great to use for just about anyone since dry scalp is a common occurrence. I think it’s great to have on hand, even if it’s just the serum or one of the masques for spot treatments.

Do you suffer from dry scalp?
