Skincare & smooth skin: Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation

I’ve been trying out a lot of different foundations lately.

Although most foundations work for me and my skin type/tone, I am pretty picky on how they make my skin look and feel. I have casual foundations, I have daytime foundations, nighttime foundations, special occasion foundations, foundations that make my skin look great in photos, etc.. you get the point.

Anyways, when I saw that Mary Kay Cosmetics launched a new foundation, I was super intrigued since it’s part of their TimeWise line, which I really like using as skincare. The TimeWise 3D Matte Foundation (C$28) is a matte foundation that is designed to give you 12 hours of wear and is supposed to feel weightless and look natural.

Available in 28 shades, this foundation is infused with their exclusive Age Minimize 3D Complex, which includes encapsulated resveratrol, dual-benefit vitamin B3, and an age-defying peptide to help defend and deliver beautiful skin.  Think of it like skincare but with coverage.  The formula is also designed to deliver 12 hours of oil control and the microspheres in it act like a sponge to absorb oil.  It blends seamlessly into your skin to give you a weightless feel with medium coverage.

Mary Kay sent me three shades to try out, Beige C 110, Beige N 150, Beige C 170. Truthfully, I found them all to suit my skin tone. This foundation is very lightweight and has a light to medium finish. I would say this is a good everyday foundation, however, if I was going a little more glam, I would pick something that gives my skin a more radiant finish and a more perfect complexion.

Mary Kay also sent along their new brush to apply the foundation with, the Mary Kay Blending Brush (C$20), which is an Artis brush dupe. This brush allows you to essentially paint and buff the foundation onto your skin since it features dense soft bristles that really allow you to seamlessly blend the foundation onto your skin.

I actually really liked this brush more than I thought I would. I have another one of these that I got in the Philippines and I found it did an okay job. This one is really study, allowing you to easily buff in product.

Finally, to complete the look, take a look at Mary Kay’s new summer-appropriate lipstick, the limited-edition Matte Lipstick in Paparazzi Pink (C$20). This bright pink lipstick is the perfect accessory to sport on a summer night. When you first look at this lipstick in the tube it does look fuchsia, however, I found it applied more like a hot pink and I instantly fell in love with the colour.  I also want to note that $1 from every lipstick sold in this shade goes towards the Mary Kay Ash Foundation, which supports women and children across Canada. Total win-win!

Overall, I liked these products but I didn’t find them to stand out (aside from the lipstick).  They do the trick and if you love the Mary Kay TimeWise line already I think you will really love the foundation. I appreciate how they took a popular skincare line and added something that will make you enjoy those benefits all day, everyday.

Are you excited to try the new Mary Kay TimeWise 3D Foundation?
