Holy water: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water
I feel like I’ve tried out so many foundations these past few months, and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love my foundation as full coverage. But for those days where I don’t want the whole she-bang, I’ll reach for my handy BB cream.
BB, CC, there’s a lot of options to choose from when you want just a nice light coverage, but with some benefits to it. BB cream has been out for awhile, and although the hype around it has died off considerably, it still has a time and place. Just when you thought they couldn’t come out anything new in that category (apparently there’s also DD cream…), Smashbox has released something called BB Water.
Okay, what?
This magic elixir acts like a drink for your skin. Think BB cream, but in a more water-like texture. Ready to get wet? The built-in primer water technology means a liquid silk-consistency, so it glides on your face and blends easily and moves with skin. It’s also alcohol-free, meaning no drying, cracking or caking during wear. Because it’s a water-like texture, the oil-free formula also creates a sheer, radiant finish. This BB hydrates your skin throughout the day, and best of all, is demi-matte, so you won’t look shiny. The coverage is also long lasting.
Like most BB creams, this guy doesn’t just give you a nice coverage. It blurs out imperfections, it has SPF 30, provides sheer to medium coverage, and quenches skin. It’s available in eight different shades.
I’ve tried out a variety of different BB creams and I definitely have some favourites (DiorSkin being number one). This retails for C$50, but oh my gosh, it’s amazing. As I said in the beginning, I love full coverage foundations, and although this is billed as sheer to medium, it makes my skin look so nice, plus it lasts pretty much all day, I don’t have to worry about it getting patchy or fading. It definitely provides a better coverage than most BB creams I have tried (especially ones from drugstore lines) and it just feels better on my skin; like I’m wearing nothing at all. I wouldn’t wear this for a night out, but I’ve been wearing it pretty much everyday for daytime use.
You apply the water with the use of the built-in dropper. I usually use two to three pumps of the product to cover my face. After I apply it, I’ll usually go over it with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, which works together so perfectly together.
Overall, I cannot recommend this product enough. Yes, it’s expensive, but if you are looking for a great quality BB cream (er, water), this is it.
Have you tried Smashbox’s BB Water?
