Luxe-urious skin: Glo Minerals Luxe Liquid Foundation

Title

If there’s one beauty product I cannot live without, it’s foundation. Sheer coverage, full coverage, matte, glow, mineral, pressed, liquid etc., it can often be very confusing choosing the right foundation for you. As a makeup gal (RE: hoarder), I have tried many foundations over the years, everything from powder to liquid, you name it.

A new foundation came across my proverbial desk lately from the brand glō∙minerals, which are known for offering a mineral makeup system uniquely designed for skincare professionals and their clients. Their award-winning formulations deliver unsurpassed coverage, UV and environmental protection and an exceptional spectrum of mineral pigments. Talc free and non-comedogenic, glō∙minerals is a good choice for even the most sensitive skin.

The Luxe Liquid Foundation (C$64) harnesses the light-refracting power of diamonds to bend light for a smooth, ageless complexion.  Honestly, I just had to read “diamonds” and I was sold.  This foundation is sheer, but you can build it up to a full coverage.  It contains moisturizing agents to deliver a youthful radiance, which leaves you with a semi-dewy finish.  Because of the finish of the foundation, I wouldn’t recommend it for very oily skin types.

The company also sent me their flat top kabuki brush (C$37) to apply the foundation with.  The brush has synthetic hairs, so it only picks up the right amount of product to really apply the product as needed.

I received the colour Naturelle in the foundation, which matched my skin perfectly.  I’ve been wearing this foundation for the past few days and I do think it’s a good one, but quite sheer.  I have pretty good skin to begin with so it leaves my skin with a nice finish, but if you have problem skin, you may find this is a bit sheer for your liking. Since I’m only 26, I don’t necessarily need the diamond powder technology, but its still kinda cool thinking that I’m somewhat wearing diamonds on my face.

Like I said, I’ve tried a lot of foundations, and although I do think this one does the trick, I definitely think it’s more of a daytime foundation because of the coverage and the dewiness it leaves on your skin.  I did use some Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder to tone it down just a touch, and even then, I got compliments on how my skin glowed. With that being said, I feel like the price tag of $64 is a little high. My favourite foundation at the moment is NARS Sheer Glow, which leaves you with more of a coverage, and retails for C$57. Sure, it doesn’t have diamonds in it and the formula is different, but based on price, I think that if you were just going for coverage and longevity (and mineral makeup wasn’t that important to you), there are more affordable options out there (and yes, I realize that even $57 is a steep for just a foundation).

If you wanted to give this foundation a go (or even the brush, together they make a great set), glo minerals was kind enough to offer my readers a 10 per cent off promo code for your entire purchase, plus free shipping.  Enter “POPCOLOR10” at the checkout for the discount.

Oh and of course, Merry Christmas for those of you who celebrate it, and Happy Birthday Dad!
