For those of you who have been wanting to give Marc Jacobs Beauty a go, now is your chance.
Special for the holiday season, Sephora has released a seven-piece set that features a smattering of products from the fashion icon’s beauty line. Housed in a chic black bag, The Showstopper includes:
– 0.13 oz Mini Rollerball in Honey Eau de Parfum
– 0.12 oz Style Eye-Con No. 3 in The Star
– 0.16 oz Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl in Kiss This
– 0.016 oz Magic Marc’er Precision Pen
– 0.24 oz Lash Lifter Gel Mascara
– Showstopper Makeup Bag and Mirror
I was so excited to receive this set because it contains products that, aside from Honey, I haven’t tried yet. His stuff is very expensive, so to get all this for C$107 (yes, I know it’s still super expensive, but if you were to buy it all separately, it would cost you $261), this makes a great gift. The best part is that everything, aside from the Honey perfume, is full size.
Being the makeup fanatic that I am, I couldn’t wait to dive into this. All the makeup items were new to me and complement each other wonderfully. I’m not a huge fan of his Lash Lifter Gel mascara, but the Magic Marc’er Precision Pen is amazing (it seriously doesn’t budge), so is the Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl, which isn’t my favourite shade (it’s a shimmery holiday red), but it does leave your lips super shiny (this is probably the glossiest gloss I have ever used). As for the eyeshadow trio, the colours are gorgeous and perfect for the holiday season and blend nicely. The gold colour is a bit chunky, but it wasn’t a pain to apply or anything. I ended up wearing this look out after I applied it and got a lot of compliments on it.
Although it’s a bit pricier than other holiday sets out there, I think that this would still make a great gift. The mature packaging (heck, I’ll even use the bag it came in and I have a million cosmetic pouches), really makes this set unique and stand out. It may not have as much as say, the Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things set, which retails for way less than this set (C$64), but I feel like the two are just so different that the price points make sense. I would buy the Marc Jacobs set for my mom, whereas the Too Faced one I would give to a girlfriend. I do have to say though, that I much prefer the Better Than Sex mascara compared to the Lash Lifter Marc Jacobs one, but to be fair, the mascara in the Too Faced set is a sample, whereas the Marc Jacobs is full size.
If you are interested in purchasing this, Sephora has their Friends & Family until October 30, where you can nab 20 per cent online. The only catch is you have to get the code from someone who works at Sephora. If you can’t get a code, Sephora usually has VIB and BI events in early November where they offer a discount (last year it was 20 per cent off for VIB and 15 per cent off for BI).

I know, I know, it’s not even Halloween yet, but I was so excited to receive the holiday eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm three pack in the mail, that I just had to blog about it.
I’ve blogged about these cute little ergonomic lip balms before and they still remain one of my favourite ways to cure dry lips. I have a special place in my heart for Marc Jacobs. My very first luxury bag was a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, of which he was formally creative director for, and I also got to see him a few months back in Vegas during his “meet and greet” at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store where he was celebrating the launch of his beauty line for Sephora.
The only item from the line I have tried thus far is the LOVEMARC Lip Gel in Strange Magic, which is my new favourite lipstick, so I was excited to try out his mascara.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty line isn’t for the faint of heart. The line consists of everything from brushes to foundation to eyeshadows to nail polishes – everything a girl needs to enhance her natural beauty. His mascara, called Lash Lifter is a gel volume mascara that promises the ultimate lift, length, volume, and curl.

The formula on this mascara is unlike anything I have personally tried; it’s not as thick as other mascaras, it’s very light, and true to the name, gel like. The brush is triangular if you look at it from the top, but it’s not really anything special.
Personally, for C$31, I would think this mascara would be amazing because there are so many other brands I can think of (Dior, YSL) that retail for a similar price point and give you amazing lashes. This mascara, my friends, is a huge disappointment. This did absolutely nothing for my lashes. If I had to sum it up, I would say this would be a daytime mascara – it gives you just enough of something to make your lashes stand out, but I definitely would not wear this out at night, it just doesn’t give enough oomph (or any for that matter). As negative as I am about this product, I will give it this though: it doesn’t clump. I also do like the packaging of the mascara, it’s super luxe. Now, too bad the product inside isn’t the same way…
Overall, save your money with this one; I’ve tried many drugstore mascaras that cost a quarter of what this does and work so much better.
