Mixology: Marc Anthony haircare styling cocktails

I probably have a million styling products. Okay, a million is kinda an exaggeration, but I have a lot.

Usually when I wash my hair I use at least three different styling products, a split-end tamer, a serum, and some other spray or serum that has to do with colour, adds volumizing, sleeks hair, etc. Lately I’ve been loving Marc Anthony Haircare’s different styling cocktails.

Since multi-use products are always a good idea, the Canadian beauty brand has a collection of different serums that target different hair concerns. Whether that be adding volume, smoothing, defining and defrizzing, texture and volume, or sleek and straight. These dual ended products combine two products in one package which you can mix and match or just use the one formula.

I received the Volume Cocktail, which adds thick and full volume to hair, awhile ago and I’ve been using it pretty much non-stop ever since. This dual-chamber formula combines a volumizing cream with a roof-lifting souffle for full hair that doesn’t fall flat. Like I said, you can open both chambers to combine the product, or keep one shut to use just one.

Other cocktails include the Sleek & Straight Smoothing Cocktail, which has a glossing lotion and a smoothing cream; the Curl Cocktail for defining & defrizzing, which has a defrizzing curl cream with enhancing curl lotion to define thick curls without drying them out; and the Texture & Volume Beach Wave Cocktail, which is a lightweight volumizing lotion and texture cream for full volume, textured waves with shine.

I received all of the different cocktails aside from the beach waves one and absolutely love them. Although the formula is incredible, I love the simplicity of the product since it’s two in one that you can use either on its own or mix together. Of course if you pick up multiple formulas then you can mix and match them to create a styling product that is truly tailored to your hair.

No matter what formula you pick up, you can’t go wrong with these. They are also super affordable at around $10 per bottle depending on where you shop. I will note that these are on sale right now at London Drugs for C$3.99, so if you’re interested in them, now is the time to buy!

Feeling nude: Rimmel London Stay Matte liquid lip colour new shades

Ah yes, liquid lipsticks… as much as try other formulas of lipsticks, I always go back to my tried and true formula.

I’ve been a fan of Rimmel London’s Stay Matte liquid lip colours since they came out last year, so you can imagine my excitement when a giant box came in the mail with 14 new shades (plus a drawn photo of myself – hey, I would totally be down to be a Rimmel London spokesperson).

Now these aren’t just any old shades, all 14 of them run the gamut of different coloured nudes.  Since you guys know I love nudes and baby pinks, I was tickled with excitement over the expanded shade range in here since a) there’s seven new pale nude shades to play with, and b) if nude-nude isn’t your thing, then you’ll love the darker shades in here. Long story short, there is literally a nude for every skin tone.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Liquid Colours

In case you aren’t familiar with the formula, these liquid lipsticks give you high-intensity colour with a velvet matte finish. You get bold colour in one stroke which is kiss-proof, touch-proof, and waterproof. They do stay on for quite some time, however, they aren’t as hard to remove as other liquid lipsticks I have tried (Kylie Cosmetics), which could be both a good and bad thing.

I swatched all 14 shades and with this many nudes it’s hard choosing a favourite. When it comes to the darker colours, I do recommend making sure your lips are completely dry before applying this product.  I found the formula to be a bit patchy the first time I tried it out with their original colour range, however, for this time around, I set my lips with powder before putting on the colour and noticed that it evened the colour out.

I have to say, I much prefer this shade range to the original since you get so many wearable colours in here. I find the formula to be relatively comfortable, as I can wear this for at least seven hours before the urge to nourish my lips with a lip balm sets in.

Not sure when these are officially launching as they aren’t on the Rimmel London Canada site just yet, but keep a look out at your local drugstore for these to pop up because you’re going to definitely want to pick up a few.

What colour are you most excited to try from the new Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour range?

Fancy wash: The Body Shop Spa of the World Body Washes

Who doesn’t love a little pampering every now and then.

Sure, I love my $3 body washes, but I also love my more expensive ones.  Truth be told, when it comes down to it, they both wash your body, prepping you for the day ahead. But you know, sometimes you want a little pick me up, and the product I’ve been using lately to indulge with is The Body Shop Spa of the World Body Washes.

Available in four different spa-inspired washes, these four products will help awaken the senses and give you those positive vibes to go about or start the day.  These came out in February and retail for C$14 each, available in 250ml bottles.

The Body Shop Spa of the World body washes

The four different washes including Relaxing Ritual, Blissful Ritual, Firming Ritual, and Revitalizing Ritual.  The Relaxing Ritual is the Adriatic Peony body wash, as well as a relaxing bath and shower cream.  Use it to unwind after a long or stressful day thanks to its calming floral scent. The Blissful Ritual is a Tahitian Tiare body wash that’s also a blissful bath and shower oil-in-gel.  Since this one also includes oil, use it for lustrous, nourished skin.  The Firming Ritual is a Balkan Juniper body wash, as well as invigorating bath and shower gel that empowers the body and mind to refine skin. Finally, the Revitalizing Ritual is a Brittany Coast Algae body wash and revitalizing bath and shower gel that will revive your body and mind.

The great thing about these body washes are that they are each formulated differently depending on what you’re looking to achieve. Had a stressful day? Use the Adriatic Peony formula. Looking to tighten up skin? Use the Balkan Juniper one. Like I said, at $14 a pop, these are definitely a luxury, but it’s nice to treat yourself every once in a while (plus The Body Shop always has sales going on).  I also want to note that each body wash is 100 per cent vegetarian and enriched with community trade honey from Ethiopia.

Everyone needs a little pampering every once in a while and I highly recommend checking these out next time you’re in store.  Pair it with a body scrub and a body butter and you’ll be giving your skin – and your senses – a treat.
