Light & Airy: The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation and Drops of Sun Holiday Glow Oil

Title

My top products to try out? Mascara, lipsticks and foundation!

I’ll never say no to trying out foundations as I’m always on the hunt for my new holy grail (I have a few already). So naturally I was so excited to receive The Body Shop’s new one, the Fresh Nude Foundation.

Fresh Nude Foundation (C$25) is a lightweight, breathable foundation infused with English rose water and 100 per cent organic aloe vera for a moisturizing feel. Available in 16 shades, the finish on this foundation has a semi-matte finish with a subtle healthy glow.

I received the shade Yorkshire Rose, and although it’s billed as being light to medium coverage, you surprisingly get a few good finish on this. I’ve worn it during the day and I’ve worn it at night; every time I put it on I don’t feel the need to go any heavier. As billed, you do get a really nice coverage on it and it feels amazing on the skin, definitely no dryness here! The Body Shop also mentions that it stays as true in the morning as in night, and although it does wear off, it keeps its finish pretty well throughout the day.

Foundation and drops

If you want to amp up the glow, try a few drops of the new Honey Bronze Drops of Sun Holiday Glow Creator (C$22), which provides a shimmer-free, bronze finish to your complexion. Perfect for summer, I like adding this to my foundation to kick it up a notch, but you can also dab the liquid gel on your cheeks for that “I just got back from Mexico, but didn’t” tan.

Don’t like wearing foundation everyday? Add a drop to our moisturizer to make your skin look more naturally sun-kissed; no one will ever know ;).

foundation before and after Final foundation

I was surprisingly very impressed with this foundation. In fact, this is the first Body Shop foundation I’ve tried and I often associate the brand more with skincare than makeup.  If you like lighter-coverage foundations, then definitely give this a try. With a large shade range and the fact that it’s moisturizing, you can’t go wrong with this one; it’s the perfect summer foundation!

Have you tried The Body Shop’s Fresh Nude Foundation? What were your thoughts?

Please note, I received these products from PR. All opinions are my own.

Tobacco + musk: Three scents for Father’s Day

Title

It’s almost a week away from Father’s Day, do you have a gift all picked out?

I’ve always found dads hard to buy for. There’s the stereotypical gift, something barbecue or tool related, but sometimes you want to go out of the box with your present.  Since I’m a beauty blogger, I love giving cosmetic gifts, no matter the occasion or the recipient. A great gift to give dad is definitely something scent related, as not only are colognes relatively expensive (depending on the scent), but they are a great way to always remind dad of you.

I did a similar post for Mother’s Day this year, so I decided to match it with my top three scents for dad for Father’s Day. Scent shopping is always a fun time, so grab your sibling or cousin and go smell that perfect fragrance for dad! Here are my picks…

Jack Black and CK

Calvin Klein Eternity for Men Summer

Since Father’s Day lands right in the beginning of summer, Eternity Summer is the perfect scent for dad to start thinking of the lake.  First he’ll be whisked away by juniper, pear, berry basil and watermelon, then make his way to modern amber, sandalwood and solar musk for the masculine base notes.

This one I do find to be a typical cologne scent, but it is quite refreshing and I’m sure your dad will love it!

Jack Black Signature Blue Mark Eau de Parfum

My dad’s favourite men’s skincare line is Jack Black, so it’s a no brainer that my dad is going to get this fragrance this year for Father’s Day (shhh, don’t tell him!).

This perfum, housed in a blue square bottle, contains notes of watermint, cilantro and bergamot with Japanese juniper, ginger essence and patchouli and driftwood to round it out.

I actually didn’t even know they had a fragrance up until this month, so if you know someone who is a fan of the Jack Black line, this one is a must!

Tom Ford

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum

This one is the priciest on the list but definitely the most masculine.

The name basically sums it out, but if your dad loves old fashioned’s, cigars or poker, this is the one for him. Notes include saffron, thyme, white leather, suede, olibanum, and musk. It’s definitely a show stopper.

$250 at Sephora.

Whether dad loves spending time outdoors at the lake or inside in his study, there’s a fragrance out there that would make a perfect gift for him this Father’s Day.

What are you buying your dad?

Royal treatment: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Royal Splendor collection

Title I’ve been so caught up with other polish brands that I’ve forgotten how amazing the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line is.

The award-winning two-step system (colour plus top coat) just celebrated its two-year anniversary here in Canada and what better way to celebrate than to release a new {royal} collection.

Royal Splendor includes six shades of the no-light system. In case you aren’t familiar with the system, you get a gel-like manicure, all without the curing technology. All you have to do is apply the colour (which also acts as a base coat) and then seal the deal with the top coat. For removal, just use your favourite nail polish remover!

Polishes

Although there is a wide range of colours available in the Miracle Gel line, they do come out with new collections. This one is comprised of jewel tones in red, turquoise, and pale pinks.

Mauveolous Regal Rose Prince Charmint Off with her red Cant Beet Royalty

I received five of the six shades and although they are very pretty on, they are all very dupable. In fact, I thought I already owned some of them already.  I will also note that the two red colours did stain my nails, which I always find so annoying.  My favourite shade from the collection is hands-down Prince Char-Mint, although Regal Rose came in a close second as it’s such a pretty blush pink.

This collection launches in July 2016 and although it’s a summer collection, some of these are very transitional into the fall as well. I also want to note that you don’t have to necessarily use the system together. For example, I use the topcoat all the time with any polish in my collection; I don’t just limit it for the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel colours.

I have always enjoyed the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel colours and system in general. Make sure you stop by your favourite drugstore next month to check out these polishes in person.

Please note, polishes provided by PR. All opinions are my own.
