Little gifts, big surprise: Stocking stuffers to bring a smile on anyone’s face

Although I don’t actually celebrate Christmas, I find the concept of stocking stuffers to be interesting.

From what I believe, these are just little items that fit nicely within a stocking on your fireplace (as if the main gift wasn’t enough?). If you’re like me and Jewish, you probably have friends believing that you get gifts for all eight days of Hanukkah. Although I wish this were the case, typically I would just get one big gift, and if I were lucky, maybe a few small ones too.

The thing about stocking stuffers is that they really work no matter what holiday you celebrate. These are traditionally little gifts that are aimed to bring joy and convenience into your life.  So if you’re a beauty lover like me, then I think you’ll really enjoy my top picks.

Sephora Collection Rose Gold mask

Sephora Collection The Rose Gold Mask

A great gift that really any gal could use? A great sheet mask.

Although you can basically find these anywhere nowadays, Sephora Collection has a whole range of them in store and online, and special for the holidays is their Rose Gold mask (C$9).

This mask is a limited-edition for the holidays sheet mask that is designed to nurture and hydrate your face. Open it up and apply it on your skin for at least 15 minutes to reveal softer and more revitalized skin.

The mask is enriched with rose quartz extract that helps to hydrate dry skin (perfect for the winter season!), as well as hydrate, comfort, and soften skin.  The coolest part is that the mask actually has a rose gold foil on it to maximize the product on your skin.

LANEIGE Kiss Me At Midnight set

Laneige Kiss Me At Midnight Lip Sleeping Mask set

I live by the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, so when I saw that they came out with a special holiday set, I got really excited.

The Kiss Me At Midnight set (C$37), which is currently sold out on Sephora and Laneige’s site (check in store to see if they still have it!), contains a full-size of the original Lip Sleeping Mask, as well as two minis of the formula in special-edition scents.

You apply this miracle worker before bed to wake up with soft, supple lips thanks to a formula that is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C. It also has a Moisture Wrap technology that coats the lips in a protective film.

Included in the set is a 20g of the original berry fragrance, as well as 3g of the mini chocolate and a 3g of the sweet candy scents. I will add that a little definitely goes a long way with these and I still have more than half in the one I got a couple years ago, so you may want to buy this and split it up, or gift it to someone who travels often (I brought one of the minis with me to New York).

Lilly Lashes holiday 2019 ornament

Lilly Lashes 3D Mink Miami & Mini Adhesive Ornament

In case you couldn’t tell from my post a couple days ago which featured Velour’s holiday offerings, I love gifting lashes.

I’ve been a follower of Lilly Ghalichi for a while now and have been dying to try out her lash line. A couple years ago the socialite actually brought her lashes into Sephora and for this season, they have come out with a special-edition ornament that features one of her iconic pairs.

This cute star ornament (C$33) contains a pair of her Miami lashes, as well as a mini bottle of her lash adhesive. Lilly Lashes are hand-crafted and designed to blend naturally with your natural lashes, adding length and volume.  The Miami lash is an ultra-wispy volume lash that is designed to up the ante on any holiday look.

Also included in the set is a mini of her adhesive, which is latex-free and quick drying.  I’m very picky personally with lash adhesive, but I think this is a nice touch to throw in with this set.

At C$33, it’s definitely a more pricier gift, especially since it’s only one pair of lashes, but these are so beautiful and would be great for a New Years look as well.

Benefit The POREfessional and Gimme Brow holiday ornaments

Benefit Cosmetics stocking stuffers

A great little stocking stuffer idea? Some little holiday-packaged minis from Benefit!

Benefit has a few different little stocking stuffer gift ideas for the holidays. If you have a friend with large pores, then take a look at The POREfessional (C$18 for 7.5ml), which comes in a mini version and is a smoothing pore primer.  Apply this product underneath your foundation to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines, as well as help your makeup stay in place all day or night long.

If you have a friend who is more about their brows, then take a look at the Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel (C$17), which comes in Shade 3. This tinted eyebrow gel has tiny microfibres that adhere to skin and hairs, creating a more natural-looking full brow.

Both of these products are perfect to throw in your bag or travel makeup bag. Best of all, they already come in a holiday-appropriate packaging, making them perfect to just throw in your gift receiver’s stocking. I will note though that these are about a third of the size of the regular size products, so it might actually be more worthwhile to pick up the full size, however, I do think the holiday packaging is cute and if you’re looking for a little topper gift, these would be perfect.

There are so many awesome choices for little mini beauty gifts this season that I truly believe if you are gifting cosmetics, then it shouldn’t be too hard to find something great. Any of the choices I mentioned would make great gifts and would be sure to bring a smile to just about anyone’s face.

Which stocking stuffers are you planning on picking up?

Shine bright! Two highlighters to invest in this season

Looking for a little holiday glow?

No matter how many highlighters I have in my collection, there ain’t nothing like getting a new one. Seriously, I probably have over 20 of them at this point in my makeup collection.

When it comes to highlighters, just like any other makeup product, there are so many formulas and shades to choose from.  For maximum effect, I like to do a liquid one first and then layer a powder on top for an out-of-this-world shine.

Highlighters are also an item that isn’t really needed in someone’s makeup collection, so if you’re looking for a good beauty gift, I think that a new highlight would be an awesome choice.

Stumped on which one to gift this season? Don’t worry, I got you…

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Star Limited-Edition Highlighter

You guys know I love a little Charlotte Tilbury, so when they released a limited-edition holiday-packaged highlighter, I was all over it.

The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Star highlighter (C$50) is a champagne gold shimmery powder highlighter that gives your skin a beautiful shimmer and a soft-focus glow.

This highlighter, available with a special-edition holiday packaging that also glitters and shimmers, is a soft powder that glides on the skin, leaving it with a soft-focus and smoothing effect. The formula contains light-reflecting pearlescent pigments to capture and reflect light, whereas the emollient esters give a soft, comfortable feel to the skin.

At C$50 a pop, this is definitely an expensive gift (for one highlighter, not a palette). All of Charlotte Tilbury’s products tend to be on the pricier side in general, but I think this would make such an amazing gift and whoever receives it will definitely be using it all year since you get a lot of product in here.

Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer

Speaking of a little going a long way, I love the Marc Jacobs O!Mega bronzer since it’s so huge, and for the holidays, the beauty brand actually came out with a highlighter that’s the same size.

Complete with a limited-edition holiday sparkly packaging, the O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer is available in two shades — Showstopper, a soft peachy pink; and Jet Girl, a golden copper — and is a giant highlighter designed to give your skin instant reflective radiance.

The formula contains micro-fine, jet-milled powder that applies effortlessly on the skin, giving you a glow that will have people turning heads.  You can use this for both face and body (try applying it on the shoulders and collarbone for a pretty effect).

This highlighter retails for C$56, but is currently on sale on Sephora’s site for C$39, so if you’re thinking about gifting it or getting it, definitely hop on it!

Swatches of Charlotte Tilbury highlighter

In the above photo I used the Charlotte Tilbury highlighter, but honestly, they are both great options for the holiday season.  I also love the limited-edition holiday packaging, which makes it all the more festive and special.

Are highlighters on your wish list?

Glam holidays: Top holiday picks for nails and eyes from Dior Beauty

A brand that makes my heart skip a beat? Dior!

There’s just something about luxury beauty brands that are so.. for a lack of a better word, luxurious.

Dior Beauty has come out with a fabulous holiday collection this season which definitely embraces the spirit of the season. There’s tons of glitter and holiday shades, that even picking up one item will have you in the holiday mood.

With Dior Beauty comes Dior prices though and truthfully, this line ain’t cheap. If you really want to gift the gift of Dior this season though, then here are some of my picks.

Dior Diorific Vernis - Limited Edition Nail Polish in Charm and Passion

Diorific Vernis nail lacquer

The easiest way to sport Dior is on the nails!

For the holidays, the brand has come out with three limited-edition holiday shades in festive colours in their Diorific Vernis nail lacquer line.  These nail polishes come in a round bottle with a gold top that is so luxurious to apply.

Now at C$34 a pop, these nail polishes are definitely not cheap, and truthfully, will you notice a difference between these and Sally Hansen or OPI? Probably not. The formula though does have a “gel coat” resin in it which is combined with a technopolymer to transform each coat of the polish into a film that is smooth and shiny. It also contains a non-mineral silicon in it, so it strengthens the nail surface.

Diorific Vernis - Limited Edition Nail Polish swatched in Passion and Charm

I received two of the three shades, Charm (a soft pink) and Passion (a holiday red). I like both colours and definitely feel like Passion is a really pretty festive shade (especially with some glitter over top). Truthfully, the shades aren’t anything really that special or different from anything else I have in my collection, but hey, it’s Dior. You’re paying for the prestige, and if you can afford it, the bottle does look nice displayed on your dresser.

Diorshow Liquid Mono - Limited Edition Liquid Eyeshadow Dior DiorShow Liquid Mono Limited-Edition Cream Eyeshadow

If you can’t gift a Dior bag this season, then their DiorShow Liquid Mono eyeshadows (C$36) are the next best thing.

I actually already chatted about these last week, but I had to mention them again as I really love the formula.

These liquid eyeshadows, available in four sparkly shades, looks like a lipgloss at first glance, but they are actually eyeshadows that can double as liners that gives you impeccable shine and long-lasting wear.

Open up the packaging to reveal a wand that allows you to glide on the colour, or use a brush to apply it over the lids or as an eyeliner.  The texture is very light and feels weightless on the lids.

Diorshow Liquid Mono - Limited Edition Liquid Eyeshadow

I received a couple colours from the line, Fireworks, a pink sparkle, and Silver Flakes, a bright silver.  These were really impressive and I was very surprised when a lot of people asked me what eyeshadow I was wearing. These are very lightweight in texture and give you just enough sparkle to make it noticeable.

Both of these products retail for under C$40, so they’re not going to break the bank.  If I had to choose one item though, I would definitely go with the DiorShow Liquid Mono Limited-Edition Cream Eyeshadow in Fireworks since it’s so pretty on the eyes and can be worn with so many different makeup looks.

Dior Beauty also has a ton of other items in their holiday collection this season, including palettes and lipsticks. Check out your Dior counter or visit their site online to see the whole collection.

Will you be asking for Dior for the holidays?
