I don’t know about you, but every time it’s sunny outside, I’m out on my patio getting my tan on. I don’t usually get this much tanning time in every year, but since I’m currently working from home, it’s been nice to spend my mornings with my laptop out on my deck and getting some much-needed Vitamin D.
Being out in the sun can be very drying on the skin, so I found Pixi Beauty’s Hydrating Milky Collection came in at the right time. This collection, which is comprised of nine items, helps to maintain your skin’s moisture levels. If you are looking for firm, healthy, and youthful skin, then this collection may be right up your alley.
The brand sent me six of the seven items to try out (they came housed in this adorable milk carton PR package) and since I’ve been a fan of Pixi Beauty’s skincare for awhile now, I was excited to give them a shot.
Start your routine first with the Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover (C$34), which takes off all your makeup, as well as dirt and oil. It’s very gentle and won’t strip your skin of essential moisture, making it perfect for all skin types. The formula includes coconut and probiotics to gently moisturize and balance skin.
Next, to prep your skin for the rest of your routine and to remove dead skin cells, reach for the Hydrating Milky Peel (C$34), which leaves you with bright skin. This formula also includes arginine, which helps to produce collagen and elastin for a younger-looking appearance.
Now that your skin is all prepped and ready to go, wash it with the Hydrating Milky Cleanser ($17.99 USD), which includes coconut oil to improve skin texture, shea butter to hydrate, and willow bark extract to condition. Use this twice a day for hydrated, glowing skin.
After we cleanse, then we tone! Everyone knows their famous Glow Tonic, but for this collection they have released a Hydrating Milky Tonic (C$20) to enrich and comfort your complexion. The tonic is infused with oat extract to soothe and balance skin, while hydrating, nourishing, and relaxing it.
Before you apply moisturizer, add some of the Hydrating Milky Serum (C$34), which helps to boost skin’s elasticity and intensely hydrate. This is great to add into your skincare routine if you have dehydrated skin as it helps to restore natural radiance and elasticity, as well as plump and soften fine lines.
Lastly, apply the Hydrating Milky Lotion (C$34) for the ultimate veil of moisture. This moisturizer delivers hydration instantly, as well as long term, and includes a blend of coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa seed extract to help nourish skin health and hydration.
If you want an extra step that will make your skin feel amazing, then spray on the Hydrating Milky Mist (C$20), which is a mist that gives you an extra boost of goodness and includes hyaluronic acid to help plump up the skin by trapping in moisture.
I think this collection is a real treat and we can all use an extra bit of moisture this season. With prolonged exposure to the elements that can cause some drying and it’s important to keep skin nice and hydrated. I’ve used a bunch of different Pixi Beauty products and love their skincare line up (plus, it’s pretty affordable compared to other luxury brands).
Let me know if you give this a try!

I read a report lately that sales in the beauty industry have been down.
Honestly, this doesn’t surprise me since we have nowhere to go and no one to see (plus the whole mask thing kinda puts a damper on wearing lip products). What people are talking about though is skincare. In fact, CNN posted an article recently saying that one of my favourite skincare brands Tula saw record sales in April.
I’ve always kinda went above and beyond with my skincare products, but during this time I have found that I have been putting a little more effort into my skincare routine. Whether that means a few extra steps or face mask days. Luckily, I get a lot of skincare products to try out and if you are looking to invest in your skin a little more during this challenging time, then here are some goodies to check out…
Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Glow Liquid Moisturizer
New-ish from Lancome is their Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Glow Liquid Moisturizer (C$60), which is a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates, de-stresses, and supports skin’s moisture barrier, giving you a glow and leaves you feeling softer, smoother, and revitalized.
This moisturizer is ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin and is perfect for those who have issues with dryness, redness, dullness, and uneven texture. The formula is made up of a complex of 14 amino acids, which are known for their anti-aging and elasticity properties to support proteins, like collagen; hyaluronic acid, which includes moisture in your skin; and organic aloe vera, which soothes, moisturizes, and gives you antioxidant protection properties.
This moisturizer is perfect for those who live in busy cities or travel often since it helps to prevent water loss, defends against pollution, and provides antioxidant protection. With regular use, skin should appear visibly younger and smoother.
Neostrata Restore Bionic Face Cream
If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin then take a look at Neostrata’s Restore Bionic Face Cream (C$75).
This moisturizer contains bionic acid, which is a natural humectant that forms a water-binding matrix to help attract moisture to the skin barrier. This cream, which the brand recommends to apply twice daily, is on the thicker side and will help nourish and moisturize your skin.
I do find this to be on the pricier side considering how small the bottle is (40 grams). As a result, I would recommend applying this maybe only at night to act as a thick night moisturizer to wake up with hydrated skin.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes
Neutrogena’s makeup removing wipes are some of my favourites, so when they released a new version as part of their Hydro Boost collection, I was instantly intrigued.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes (C$12.99) are a makeup removing wipe that is made with hyaluronic acid. Each package comes with 25 wipes and gently and effectively remove dirt, makeup, and impurities.
I’ve also found that Neutrogena’s wipes are the best at removing makeup, so take that and then pair it with the hyaluronic acid formula to hydrate skin while it also cleans it, prepping it for the rest of your skincare routine. If you are already a fan of their cleansing wipes, then I highly recommend you give these a shot next time you’re picking some up.
Reversa Collagenique Cream
I’ve always had a thing for Reversa since they are proudly Canadian and if you are looking for a little homegrown skincare, then take a look at their newest innovation, the Collagenique cream (C$60).
This moisturizer helps to prevent and reduce visible signs of collagen loss by hydrating and revitalizing the skin. The formula contains 98 per cent ingredients by natural origin, including MatrixylSynthe’6 peptide, which helps with aging; Agefinity, a biomimetic source that generates energy in skin cells; goji stem cell extract, which is a super fruit that helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging; and fragmented hyaluronic acid, which helps to hydrate the skin.
This cream is suitable for all skin types and just like other Reversa products, is cruelty-free, vegan, and paraben-free.
Skinceuticals A.G.E. Interruptor Moisturizer and Eye Complex
I’ve talked a lot about Skinceuticals on here, so when I got in their A.G.E. Interruptor Moisturizer and Eye Complex, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
The A.G.E. Interrupter moisturizer (C$185) is an advanced wrinkle treatment that helps to fight visible signs of aging caused by advanced glycation end-products (the A.G.E. in the name), which is a major factor of the natural aging process. This cream includes 30 per cent concentration of proxylane, four per cent blueberry extract, and 0.2 per cent phytosphingosine, which will help to improve the appearance of wrinkles and reverse the loss of firmness caused by the glycation process.
Apply this cream to your face once or twice daily to reduce the appearance of thinning skin, visibly improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture, restore water and nutrients to make skin look more firm, and add hydration.
Pair this with the A.G.E. Eye Complex (C$113), which has a similar formula to combat dark circles, puffiness, and crow’s feet. It also includes optical diffusers to diffuse light and improve the radiance of tired dull-looking eyes to make them appear brighter and less tired.
Skwiik Skin Co. Face It cream
Calgary-based Skwiik Skin Co. calls their Face It moisturizer (C$28) the best face cream of all time.
It’s a pretty big claim, but it does do a heck of a good job. Appropriate for both day and night, this moisturizer is infused with neroli floral water and guava extract to help even out skin tone, hydrate, reduce inflammation, and protect your natural skin barrier.
This cream is suitable for a variety of different skin tones, including both acne-prone and sensitive skin. You can mix it with their Super Glow Elixir, which I talked about here, for a sleep treatment.
Although I do miss wearing makeup (I mean, I can apply it, I just don’t see the point when I don’t leave my house), I do have to admit that my skin has been loving the much-needed break lately. There are so many amazing skincare products out there and I feel like brands are really upping their games lately to come out with formulations to really help target just about any skin concern you may have.
What have you been loving lately?

Looking for something to make your eye colour pop? Then Charlotte Tilbury has the perfect solution.
Released a couple months ago, her Eye Colour Magic collection consists of four eyeshadow quads with dual-ended liners to match. The collection is aimed to bring out the natural colour in your eyes thanks to contrasting and harmonious shades for every eye shade. Whether you have blue, hazel, green, or brown eyes, there is a Luxury Palette and Liner Duo to give you the perfect mesmerizing look.
For blue eyes, give the Luxury Palette in Copper Charge (C$66) a shot. This palette features four copper-toned eyeshadows in gold, rose-copper, and russet-brown shades in shimmering and matte formulas. This one is actually one of my favourites from the collection since I have blue eyes and find the shade range one that I wear often. There are three shimmery colours in here with one matte brown that is the perfect crease shade.
Pair the quad with the Eye Colour Magic Liner Duo in Copper Charge (C$35), which features a warm russet brown on one end and a metallic copper on the other. Having blue eyes myself, I do find wearing a brown liner instead of a black one to be more soft on the eye and really make the colour pop. I find I’ll get more wear out of the brown end rather than the copper one, but it would be something fun to play with this summer.
For brown eyes, the Super Blue Magic Trick Luxury Palette (C$66) will be right up your alley. This palette features an array of shadows that will make your brown eyes stand out. Open up the palette to reveal a shimmering champagne and brown, a glittery blue, and a matte navy. This one is also a stunner and although I don’t wear a lot of blue eyeshadows, once I got to playing with it, I actually really liked the shade range.
I love to wear blues as a liner in the summer time as a fun way to wear some colour, and because you have two neutrals in here, this makes this palette actually very wearable, no matter the occasion. Pair it with the Eye Colour Magic Liner Duo in Super Blue (C$35), which has a matte navy on one end and a metallic blue on the other.
For hazel eyes, green shades will be your new BFFs.
The Green Lights Luxury Palette (C$66) is also known as The Rebel and features a shimmery gold, a shimmering olive, a glittery khaki-green, and a glittery brown. If camouflage was a palette, this would be it. This one is also very pretty but I find all four shades to be on the darker realm of things. For my blue eyes, I found that most of the palettes worked for me, aside from this one. Of course, you can wear any eyeshadow and look fab, but I found this particular palette really did nothing for me, but if you have hazel eyes, then you’ll adore this.
Pair it with the Eye Colour Magic Liner Duo in Green Lights (C$35), which features a matte forest green liner on one end and a metallic khaki green on the other.
Finally, for green eyes (or blue!), scoop up the Luxury Palette in Mesmerizing Maroon (C$66). This palette features a shimmery rose gold, a shimmering maroon, a glittery rose gold maroon, and matte burgundy.
This palette works beautifully if you have light-coloured eyes since the purples and pink tones really help them pop. This one was also really pretty on, however, I wish the base shade (the shimmering rose gold) was a hint lighter so you could wear it as a highlight shade as well.
Finish off the look with the Eye Liner Duo in Mesmerizing Maroon (C$35), which has a matte eggplant liner on one end and a metallic coppery purple on the other. This liner is also really nice since the matte end is very dark, so it really helps make the eyes pop.
Overall, I think this is a really fun collection and love how Charlotte Tilbury made it easy for people to figure out what to wear to make their eyes stand out (which truthfully, since we are all wearing masks nowadays, I find this more helpful than ever).
Although you only get four shades per palette (which, at $66 a palette, it’s pretty steep), I do have to say that the colour range in them is good and very workable. I have her Pillow Talk Luxury Palette and surprisingly wear it a lot since I find the colours just seem to work together so perfectly.
As for the liners, I think they are fun and I do like to wear a coloured liner often instead of the usual black since I find it helps soften the eyes (black can be harsh sometimes, especially for daytime wear). These liners make it so fun and easy to wear colour that doubles as something that makes your eyes stand out, so I think they would be a good investment in your makeup collection.
If you are interested in getting your hands on this line, all of the items are currently sold out on the Charlotte Tilbury site and they are limited edition as well. Keep an eye out for a restock though. Since they are so popular I don’t think she would just stop her; I imagine she would restock them.
Have you tried any of Charlotte Tilbury’s Colour-Coded eyeshadow palettes or liners?
