Sparkly things: Glitz & glam for your nails, eyes, and cheeks
I don’t know about you, but once the holidays hit I get in the mood for some sparkle and shine.
I pull out all my glittery dresses (and maybe invest in a few new ones) and bust out more than a few sparkly makeup items as well. Just like in fashion, the beauty world is also filled with tons of glitter and shine, and since it’s the best time to pack it on, you’ll have no shortage of places to wear it.
If you don’t have any sparkle yet in your makeup collection, or are looking for some new products to pick up for your holiday looks, then keep reading.
Marc Jacobs Beauty See-Quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow
The best place to start with some sparkle is definitely on the eyes.
Marc Jacobs Beauty brought back their super holiday-appropriate See-Quins Glitter Glam Eyeshadows (C$37, currently on sale for C$22) this season in a few new shades.
This limited-edition loose eyeshadow gives you bold pigment with major sparkle. Available in six shades, open up the pot (housed with a grey sparkly lid) to reveal a demi-pressed pigment that allows you to really pack on the glitter for either a bold or subtle look.
I received a couple of these last year as well, and although the gold shade (Star Dust) is my favourite, the shades they sent me this year (Pop Rox and Glitter Rock) are super holiday appropriate as well and really helps to up and ante on any festive look.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Lip Hi-Shine Gloss
From the eyes to the lips, Marc Jacobs Beauty has you covered this season.
Pick up one of their new limited-edition holiday packaging of their Enamored Lip Hi-Shine Glosses (C$37, holiday shades are currently on sale for C$22), available in four different shades. This lip gloss gives you a sheer wash of colour and high shine thanks to its Triple Shine Complex, which blends together high-performance ingredients to give you a comfortable wear and shine, similar to 30 coats of lacquer.
I’m not usually a gloss girl since I find the texture too sticky on the lips, but I actually don’t mind these and absolutely love the holiday sparkle shades. My favourite is definitely To The Moon, a pink shimmer that looks amazing by itself or layered over another colour.
Buxom Gimmie Glitter Plumping Lip Gloss Set
if you want a little plump with your gloss then take a look at the Buxom Gimme Glitter Plumping Lip Gloss set.
This set contains five deluxe sizes of their Full-On Plumping Lip Polishes, including three exclusive shades to this collection, Joy, Holly, and Eve. In case you haven’t tried their formula before, it contains a unique peptide complex that visibly plumps lips and leaves them moisturized thanks to Vitamins A & E. Lips are left hydrated, plumped, and shiny.
The shades in this set are Celeste (peachy-beige shimmer), Joy (golden nude), Holly (red), Clair (pinky-mauve with golden shimmer), and Eve (dark-nude shimmer).
Dior DiorShow Liquid Mono Limited-Edition Cream Eyeshadow
If you can’t gift a Dior bag this season, then their DiorShow Liquid Mono eyeshadows (C$36) are the next best thing.
These liquid eyeshadows, available in four sparkly shades, looks like a lipgloss at first glance, but they are actually eyeshadows that can double as liners that gives you impeccable shine and long-lasting wear.
Open up the packaging to reveal a wand that allows you to glide on the colour, or use a brush to apply it over the lids or as an eyeliner. The texture is very light and feels weightless on the lids.
I received a couple colours from the line, Fireworks, a pink sparkle, and Silver Flake, a bright silver. These were really impressive and I was very surprised when a lot of people asked me what eyeshadow I was wearing. I would say they were different from the Marc Jacobs Beauty glitter shadow I mentioned earlier. These are very lightweight in texture and give you just enough sparkle to make it noticeable.
Now that we are in full-force holiday season (especially here in New York!), it’s time to get your glitter on. If you aren’t a sparkly dress kind of gal then definitely look into makeup products instead. It’ll bring a little festiveness to your look and make you very holiday appropriate.
Are you a glitter fanatic?
Please note, products sent by PR. All opinions are my own.
