Trendy and practical: Design.Me styling products for hair + giveaway!
As I said in my last hair post on the three hair items you need this spring, I get a lot of hair products. Since I’ve been doing this for seven years now (gosh, where does the time go?!), I can be a little more selective in what I choose to review. I typically tend to stick to brands I’ve heard of before, but when Design.Me reached out to see if I wanted to try out their stuff, I couldn’t say no after taking a look at their packaging.
Cute packaging aside (seriously though, it’s too cute), Design.Me is a salon brand that is also sold through their site, designmehair.com (check out their store locator to find a salon that sells it near you!). Their products, which consist of styling items, are high-quality that are cruelty-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and gluten-free. I’ve been finding lately that there has been a huge push towards more natural, good-for-you products in the beauty industry, and to find a trendy brand like Design.Me that isn’t harmful is a major plus.
As mentioned, there is no shampoo and conditioner in this line, as instead they focus more on styling products. The brand was super kind and sent me all their items to try out and I couldn’t wait to get my hands – hair – dirty (literally and figuratively speaking). After stepping out of the shower and applying my usual split-end serum to my hair, I first reached for Fab.Me, a hair treatment that you spray into damp hair that provides you with 18 benefits. This product helps to defend your hair against colour fading, split ends (okay, so I could have skipped my split-end serum this time around), breakage prevention, heat damage, as well as control detangling, frizz, and adds shine and hydration. Oh, and that’s only a handful of what this product does. To sum it up, this spray does everything, which if you don’t want to break the bank on a million different hair products, or need something for travel (it comes in a travel size as well), then this is perfect for you. Retailing at C$24.50, this is a total steal considering that it’s like 20 hair products in one.
Next up, I sprayed the PowerDry.Me, which helps cut your blowdry time in half. Spray this on your hair before picking up your blowdryer to help with drying time. The formula is a microemulsion which forms a thin layer around the hair fibers to provide them with better alignment, thus preventing the entrapment of water molecules due to tangling. In addition to decreasing your drying time, this will help with frizz control, heat and UV protection, and smooths and conditions hair.
After spraying both products into my hair I grabbed my dryer and went to work. After about three to five minutes, my hair was fairly dry and felt smooth and nourished. Sometimes when I blowdry my hair, the top layer has the tendency to feel rough, but running my hands through my locks, everything was smooth, soft, and tamed.
After an hour or so, I heated up my curling wand since I wanted to try out their hairspray next. The Hold.Me hairspray is unlike anything I have ever seen before since it has an adjustable nozzle that allows you to control the amount of hold you want. Just twist the nozzle to light, medium or strong hold and spray away! This formula is also lightweight, flake free and gives you shine, UV protection, and volume. Since I curled my hair, I went with a medium hold, which kept my curls intact, and best of all, my hair didn’t feel crunchy or weighed down. Plus, you know that matte pink bottle is actually the cutest hairspray I have ever seen…
Finally, to add a little volume at the roots, Design.Me has two versions of Puff.Me, a volumizing powder spray in a pump. Choose either light or regular for instant volume and texture at the roots. I chose to try out the lighter version of the two since I often find these texturizing powders often make my hair feel too starchy. This one was really nice and my roots didn’t feel too yucky. I also like how this is a spray, as I have other ones that you shake out on the root or spray. The pump makes it easy to lightly apply the product, plus the whole non-aerosol thing is a major plus for the environment.
So I think it’s pretty obvious that I would highly recommend this line of hair products. Cute packaging aside, the products really do perform well. If you want to give them a try, then you’re in luck since the brand was so kind to hook me up with a giveaway for two winners (Canada and U.S. only). Head on over to my Instagram to enter.
Have you tried any Design.Me products? What were your thoughts?
