Cute as a fruit: Too Faced Tutti Frutti Dew You Foundation and Pineapple Paradise Strobing Duo

If there is one brand that literally never disappoints, it’s Too Faced Cosmetics.

Okay okay, so maybe I have tried some stuff by them that I haven’t loved as much as their other products, but for the most part, their items have performed consistently well. Too Faced is one of those brands that when they released new collections, a) they are always so cute (and smell delish), and b) you need to try every item out since everything looks irresistible.

The Tutti Frutti collection launched a couple months back and although we are in full-fledged fall here (and kinda in the holiday season, as per the beauty world), I still had to try out some of these perfect-for-summer items.  The line includes everything from sparkling liquid eyeshadows to foundations to blushes to setting sprays; it’s a huge collection with pretty much every makeup item you would need to create a fresh face (plus I believe it was done in collaboration with YouTube goddess Kandi Johnson).

Since I absolutely had to try something out from the line, I managed to snag one of the new Dew You Foundations and the Pineapple Paradise Strobing/Highlighting Duo.

Too Faced Dew You Foundation and Pineapple Paradise Strong Bronzer Highlighter Duo

The Dew You Fresh Glow foundation (C$45) is a long-wearing brightening foundation that is high coverage and leaves you with a satin finish (midway between matte and dewy).  This gel-cream formula is infused with watermelon and cucumbers which hydrate and soothe the skin (it also smells like this scent as well). The foundation is available in 20 shades and features a pump to dispense the product, making it easy to dispense on a beauty blender or brush.

I received the shade Porcelain, which is the fourth-lightest shade. I do find that this suits my skintone nicely, especially as I lighten up as we head into the fall months. The formula glides on beautifully and does leave me with a nice coverage that doesn’t fade away during the day.  I do think this is a great everyday foundation since it radiates your skin and provides a really nice coverage. I personally like the scent, but if you have allergies, then you may find this to be a touch overpowering.

To add a little extra glow to the foundation, pair it with the Pineapple Paradise Strobing Bronzer Highlighting Duo (C$38), which comes in the cutest compact and is a shimmery bronzer with champagne highlighter.  This product, which smells like pineapple might I add, is perfect for your tropical getaway this season since it comes with a velvet bronzer and glittery highlighter.

Although I highly recommend buying it for the case alone, I really did love how this looked on my skin. The bronzer has some shimmer in it, so be prepared for a dewy, glowy look. I did find the bronzer to be buildable, so if you want more of a sunkissed look rather than an extreme contour, you can totally do that with this. As for the highlighter, it is quite pigmented, which makes it perfect for that sunshine-worthy highlight.

In case you can’t tell, I absolutely love this collection and am totally coveting other items (like the It’s Bananas Brightening Setting Powder, and the Fruit Cocktail Blush Duos). If you are on the hunt for the collection, unfortunately it is an Ulta exclusive I believe, but if you are in Canada like I am, then you’ll be able to order it off the Too Faced site (along with their new holiday collection).

I’ve been sporting some self tanner for the past few weeks so unfortunately I have had to press pause on wearing the Dew You foundation for the time being, but I’ve been coating myself in the Pineapple Paradise duo since that product really does work with any skin tone.

This collection is tough since all the holiday items are coming out and with a summery-looking collection, you may not be drawn to it as much as the winter stuff hitting shelves right now. With that being said, there are so many items in here that it’s definitely worth taking a look at (and I mean, who doesn’t another foundation/primer/setting spray/setting powder… I could go on and on…).

Did you pick up any items from the Too Faced Tutti Frutti collection?

Tamed + tested: Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz haircare line

When it comes to drugstore haircare, Marc Anthony is one of my favourites.

From the cute packaging to the way the products make my hair feel, I’m often grabbing all their products to wash and style my hair.  Recently, I was sent the Bye Bye Frizz line, which is made up of seven different products, and is aimed at taming frizzy hair (shocking, based on the name of the line, I know). There’s a shampoo, conditioner, damage repair treatment, leave-in conditioner, humidity shield hairspray, blow-dry cream, and serum.

I received all the products aside from the Miracle Leave-In Treatment, and although I don’t suffer from frizzy hair, I do have to admit that this stuff works.  For me, rather than tame frizz, it kept my hair sleek, shiny, and manageable.

Marc Anthony Haircare Bye Bye Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner

The routine starts in the shower with the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is formulated with Hydrolyzed Silk for moisture and polymers to help keep hair healthy. It also has hydrolized keratin and Abyssinian oil to strengthen your locks, while soothing the cuticle. As a result, hair is left soft, manageable, and shiny.

The conditioner works basically the same way, but also has lightweight grapeseed oil in it to keep hair moisturized.  The formula also contains a strengthening dual-keratin to smooth the cuticle and reduce the look and feel of frizz.

Once hair is towel dried, there are a number of styling products in the line to keep frizz to a minimum (and eliminate it altogether). Up first I’ll apply the Bye Bye Frizz 8-in-1 Serum , which has a blend of ingredients to keep hair soft, moisturized, and manageable. The formula includes hydrolized silk, dual keratin, and oils, such as Abyssianian Oil and Sunflower Seed oil, which keeps the humidity out of hair and the moisture locked in.

After, I’ll grab the Bye Bye Frizz Protecting Leave-In Conditioner, which is a leave-formula that you spray on damp hair. This product helps with split ends and detangles hair for a smooth brush-through. It also contains coconut oil for moisture.

I usually let my hair air dry naturally since I don’t like exposing it to a lot of heat damage, but every once in a while if I’m really styling my hair I’ll bus out the blowdryer and give it a go. Prior to blow-drying, apply the Bye Bye Frizz Keratin Smoothing Blow Dry Cream, which includes lightweight ingredients that smooths hair but doesn’t weight it down.

Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz Hairspray, Blow-dry Cream, and Serum

Finally, once your hair is dry and styled, give it a blast with the Bye Bye Frizz Humidity Shield Hairspray, which won’t let hair frizz up as you go about your day. This hairspray gives you a natural hold, while also providing shine and conditioning.

Although I don’t typically have frizzy hair (unless I sleep with it down during the night), I actually really love how this makes my hair look and feel.  I believe this line has been around for a while but it looks like they redid the formula and packaging.  The big draw here is the fact that there is no silicone included in the formula. Instead, the brand included Abyssinian Oil, which is a natural oil that delivers the benefits of silicone without the coating and build up that it produces. The formula also has dual keratins and silk protein to nourish hair.

This line actually came right in time since I recently got tape-in extensions, and while she was putting them in she was mentioning that I shouldn’t use products with silicone as it builds up on the hair. Even if you don’t have extensions, it’s always a good idea to look into using silicone-free lines anyways.

If you can’t tell already, I love this line and am so happy that Marc Anthony came out with so many styling products to include in it.  Since Marc Anthony is drugstore, that means it’s all affordable, making it simple to pick up every single product ;).

Do you use silicone-free haircare products?

Fall in love: Mary Kay Lash Love mascara

Mascara… one of those products that everyone needs in their makeup collection.

Okay, so technically, no one really needs any makeup, but when it comes to the millions of items out there, even if you are a basic makeup wearer, chances are, you have a mascara in your makeup bag.

I’ve tried my fair share of mascaras from a variety of different brands, but I don’t believe that I have ever tried Mary Kay’s formula. You guys know I am often impressed with MK products, so I set my expectations high for this one, and it didn’t disappoint.

Mary Kay Lash Love mascara
Mary Kay Lash Love mascara wand

The Lash Love mascara, which has been around for a while but recently came out with redesigned packaging, is a mascara that defines, depends, and gives you longer, more voluminous lashes. Available in just black, the water-resistant formula contains their exclusive Panthenol-Pro Complex and vitamin E to help moisturize, strengthen, and condition lashes. Lashes are left looking longer, more defined, and prevented by breakage and brittleness.

Now the real showstopper for this mascara is the brush. The flexible, thin, sculpted brush allows you to coat every lash from base to tip, leaving lashes looking fuller, longer, and defined (no clumping). I love mascara that offer these skinny wands, as it really allows you to get in there and coat even the toughest-to-reach lashes.

If you can’t tell already, I really like this mascara. The formula really did give me defined and long-looking lashes that didn’t drop as the day went on. I also like using mascaras that offer this type of wand as a finishing mascara paired with one of my favourites, Too Faced Better Than Sex or L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise, since it helps to separate out the lashes even more.

Now I saved the best part for last. The price on this is only C$21, which is very affordable for a quality mascara like this (I was actually shocked at the pricing since Mary Kay products can sometime be a little bit more expensive). Since this mascara also features special packaging, Mary Kay will donate $1 from each sale of the mascara to The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, which supports women’s shelters and survivors of abuse, as well as the Look Good Feel Better program.

Before and after using Mary Kay Lash Love mascara

The only downfall of Mary Kay Cosmetics (depending on who you ask), is the fact that you have to buy it through an independent seller (but you are able to order through your rep through the MK website). If you have a rep who you deal with already, I would totally add this to your next order since it really is fabulous. If you don’t have a rep, well, I’m sure it’ll be easy to find one ;).

Have you tried Mary Kay Lash Love mascara?
