Feeling Flexible: Givenchy Noir Interdit mascara

I’ve been using L’Oreal Paris’ Lash Paradise pretty much nonstop since I got it.

I’ve written about it, raved about it, recommended it to friends (who also picked it up), basically I’ve been screaming from the rooftops how much I love it. Mascara is one of those beauty products that just seem to either work for you or not.  I could love a mascara but a friend could hate it because she has (obviously) different lashes.

When you venture into Sephora and are prepared to drop some serious cash on a mascara, you’re hoping that it will work for you. I recently received one of Givenchy’s mascaras, a beauty brand I’ve actually never had the opportunity to try out. I place Givenchy’s cosmetics in the same pond as other luxury brands with cosmetics lines, like Dior, YSL and Chanel. It’s uber-fancy makeup. Although they have a wide range of different mascaras, I got the Noir Interdit mascara (C$38), which features a 90-degree bendable brush wand.

This mascara is all sorts of rich, from the sleek black packaging which features ribbon detail engraved onto the package to the perfumey scent of the product itself. The idea with this is to create a lash extension effect with buildable volume. Okay, so bendable wand aside, the brush on this looks like a comb, which allows you to get the lash from the root. Lashes look combed, separated, and defined.

The bendable brush is really cool and handy for those hard-to-reach lashes. To be honest though, I haven’t really played around too much with it since I find a regular ‘ol mascara wand to be just fine. My favourite part about this mascara though would probably be the fragrant scent; it just smells expensive.

Overall, although i did like this mascara, it isn’t my new favourite.  It does a good job of giving you defined lashes, and to be honest, I think works best as a layering mascara. I would use this first then layer L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise overtop for an out-of-this-world lash look.  I will note though that the formula of the mascara itself is pretty good, it doesn’t flake or clump at all. You definitely get what you pay for with this one.

Have you tried Givenchy Noir Interdit mascara? What were your thoughts?

Please note, I received this product from PR. All opinions are my own.
