NOTD: OPI Pink Friday and Save Me

I can seriously say that I don’t think I have ever been so excited over a nail polish collection from OPI before.  I really enjoyed the Katy Perry collection from early 2010 but even then there were colours that I loved and others that I didn’t think were that great.  Earlier this month OPI released a collection with Nicki Minaj and although I’m not the biggest Nicki fan (I used to hate her until I saw her in concert), I am obsessed with each and every one of these colours.

The collection consists of three cream colours, three glitters, and a new shatter.  I already featured Did It On Em last week, the bright green colour from the collection.  This week I’m sporting Pink Friday with Save Me on my ring finger over top.

Pink Friday is a baby pink colour, it’s very pretty but nothing really spectacular. I’m sure OPI has tons of different dupes for this colour.  With that being said though, I do really like this colour and really who doesn’t need a baby pink shade in their collection.

The colour applies kind of streaky, I couldn’t get a perfect application with this even after three coats.

I have read that some people compare Pink Friday to Mod About You (my favourite OPI colour ever), but Mod About You is more of a blush pink; it’s more lighter than Pink Friday. I also compared it to SpaRitual’s Knowledge is Power (another one of my favourite colours) but Knowledge is Power is definitely more of a Malibu Barbie, hot pink colour.

As for Save Me, this glitter is unlike any other glitter I have seen.  The thing that makes this so special is the fact that it has not only microglitter but bar glitter.  Whenever I take a look at this colour I always think of the Saved By The Bell theme song; it’s so ’80s.

I haven’t tried this colour on by itself but it looks really nice layered over Pink Friday, it does  lighten the colour a bit.

Pink Obsessed

I’m the first one to say it, I have a serious addiction to pink lipstick.  I made the mistake of checking out the new MAC Iris Apfel collection swatches on Temptalia and the lipsticks are to die for!  I’m staying far away from my local MAC store and besides I’m sure they are sold out.

Speaking of pink though, I got a new workout top from Lululemon in their irresistible Paris Pink colour and got inspired for this post.

NYX Dolly Pink lipliner with Revlon Cupcake Lip Butter

Just a little lipstick glamour to start your weekend.

Colours shown: MAC Saint Germain, Viva Glam Gaga II, and Candy Yum Yum; Revlon Lip Butter in Cupcake; YSL Rouge Volupte in Lingerie Pink, Fetish Pink, and Frivolous Pink.

You can never have enough pink lipsticks… speaking of, I’ll probably be picking up more YSL shades when I go to Montreal in February, can’t wait.

Hope you have a nice weekend!

Battle of the Green Nail Polishes: OPI’s Who the Shrek Are You Versus Did It On Em

OPI recently came out with a fabulous new collection in collaboration with hip hop artist Nicki Minaj.  The January 2012 collection features bright cream colours in addition to some glittery ones and I absolutely love every shade.  They also came out with a new shatter, a purple with a hint of glitter, called Super Bass.

Anyways, there is one colour in the collection that looks a little familiar…

Left: Did It On Em Right: Who The Shrek Are You

No my friends, those are not two of the same nail polishes.  The one on the left is the Did It On Em from the Nicki Minaj for OPI collection and the one on the right is Who The Shrek Are You from the Shrek Collection from early 2010.  Both colours are, to be frank, puke green, The Exorcism green.

Top: Who The Shrek Are You, Bottom: Did It On Em

At first glance the colours seem to be quite identical but when you actually put them on, Who The Shrek Are You is a bit darker in colour with more green undertones.  Did It On Em has more yellow in it than it’s predecessor.  I have read that Did It On Em is an in-between colour of Who The Shrek Are You and Fiercely Fiona (from the same Shrek collection), which is more of a yellow colour.

There is an obvious difference when you compare them side by side once applied.  Regardless, I do like both colours  but when it comes to applying them I may have a hard time choosing between the two.  I could always do an ombre effect on my nails to get good use out of both colours.

So if I had to choose, which one would I pick?  I would probably go with the Nicki Minaj one because it doesn’t look as puke green like the Shrek one.  When I first checked this colour out online on other blogs it did look more florescent green but it comes off a little more muted than I would like.

In honour of this blog post, Chase thought he would get in the green spirit as well…

Have you tried OPI’s Did It On Em or Who The Shrek Are You?  What are your thoughts?
