In the flesh: Too Faced Cosmetics It Just Comes Naturally collection

So Monday I chatted about the new Natural Nudes lipsticks that are part of the Too Faced It Just Comes Naturally collection, and since it’s Friday, it’s the perfect time to talk about the rest of the collection.

This all-natural collection consists of two eyeshadow palettes, a face palette, bronzers, and the lipsticks.  Some of the items in here are re-releases in updated packaging and others are brand new for this line. I received all the items except two of the bronzers and the matte eyeshadow palette, and I have to say that this line is quite stellar.

When I first saw the items in here, I wasn’t too impressed since it’s all neutral shades. I mean, it’s cute but it’s not as exciting as their Life is a Festival collection that they previously just released. But then I started using the items and realized that everything is totally wearable and perfect for everyday makeup, as well as travel.

The Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Palette is a revamp of their Natural Eyes palette, which is also now infused with their exclusive coconut butter-infused formula for a creamier finish and comfortable wear. You get nine shadows in here, four mattes, two pearls, and three sparkles. The palette is split up into essentially three looks that you can mix and match, with three large base colours and then accents and crease colours.  This is a basic palette, but super wearable since all the shades are nudes, meaning that it can easily transition from day to night. This retails for C$48 and is a definite must if you love neutral eyeshadows.

Too Faced has also released a similar palette but in all nudes.  The Natural Matte palette (C$48) offers up close shades to its sister palette, all with the same coconut butter-infused formula. This palette also differs from its predecessor in that it has seven new shades as well.

For the face, Too Faced has released an amazing highlight, blush, and bronzing palette that everyone needs in their collection. The Natural Face palette opens up to two highlighters, two blushes, and two bronzing veils. The soft formula is also infused with the same hydrating coconut butter and since there is a variety of shades in here, it’s perfect for all skin tones.  This retails for C$54 and I have been wearing it nonstop since it is a one-stop shop for the face.  Because of that, it’s perfect for travel since you just need to bring this one palette instead multiple smaller items.  I absolutely adore this and cannot recommend it enough. The packaging on it is the same as the eyeshadow palettes and look beautiful displayed on a vanity as well. Each shade also goes on smoothly and blends out like a dream. Pick this up, you will not regret it.

Finally, if you’re looking for just a bronzer, Too Faced is known for their Chocolate Soleil bronzers and they have just redid them for this collection.  Available in three shades, Chocolate Matte, Dark Chocolate Matte, and Milk Chocolate Matte, there is a shade for every skin tone in here. Create a beautiful tanned glow with dimension thanks to these bronzers that are infused with 100 per cent real cocoa powder that smells like chocolate and delivers a long-wearing bronze look.  Too Faced has also rereleased the Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer, which has a slight pink undertone in the dual-shade palette that mimics the flush of a real tan.

Too Faced sent me two of the bronzers, Chocolate Matte, which is a universal bronzer, as well as Milk Chocolate, which is for lighter skin tones. Since I am quite pale at the moment, I’ve been reaching for Milk Chocolate Matte, which gives me a nice contour without looking fake. Once the weather starts getting warmer here and it actually feels like spring (so I can sit out an get some sun on this skin), I’m going to switch over. Honestly, though, these bronzers are amazing, but I’ve been using the bronzer in the Natural Face palette for the past week since I like how it has everything in it, meaning I don’t need to switch between products to do my contour, blush, and highlight.

Like I said, at first glance this collection may seem boring (compared to their Life is a Festival collection), but it’s incredibly wearable. I have so many palettes in my collection that are stunning to look at, but a little bold for everyday wear. I definitely recommend the face palette and the eyeshadow palette (if you don’t already have a million neutral eyeshadow palettes already), as these are staples to have in anyone’s collection.

Just bloom: Three fresh scents you need for spring 2018

If there is one cosmetic item most people have in their collection, it’s a perfume. Perfumes are more than just smells you wear, they are gateways into luxury brands, memories, gifts, feelings, etc.  I have some fragrances I only wear in the winter, I have others that I put on when I want to reminisce about a vacation or a certain time in my life, and I have some that I bought just because the bottle was cute (what? I can’t resist a cute bottle).

Although it currently doesn’t feel like spring here in Winnipeg (we are still in minus-degree weather), I’ve been embracing the sunshine and melted snow and on the hunt for some fresh new fragrances.  Spring is all about fresh florals and happy scents, so I have rounded up my top-three fragrances you need this season.

Aerin Hibiscus Palm perfume

Aerin Hibiscus Palm

I got this fresh fragrance during the spring 2018 Estee Lauder press preview at the beginning of February and have been wearing it non-stop since. This perfume is part of the Aerin line, which is the makeup brand by Estee Lauder’s granddaughter.

The summary fragrance just screams “South Carolina beach” to me as it’s filled with powdery florals, such as lotus flower. It also has notes of hibiscus palm accord, tiare absolute, heliotrope, and coconut milk to round it out. It’s definitely something you would wear during the warmer months, and although it’s still cold here, I’ve been spraying it on to jet-set me away to a beach somewhere.

Aerin Hibiscus Palm retails for C$138. The fragrance is also available as a rollerball.

Gucci Bloom perfume

Gucci Bloom

I’ve been on a huge Gucci kick recently, so when I saw they had a fragrance under the new creative director Alessandro Michele, I had to have it; it didn’t matter what it smelled like.

Well, luckily it’s a good one. Another floral scent (duh!). Gucci Bloom is housed in a simple Millennial pink bottle which features design details similar to the Gucci shopping bags. This perfume, available in 30 ml (C$90), 50 ml (C$114), 100 ml (C$154), and rollerball versions, has key notes of rangoon creeper, jasmine bud, and tuberose. It’s definitely a very floral scent that smells rich. Like Hibiscus Palm, it also has that powdery scent to it, however, the two fragrances are quite different.  If I had to describe it in one word, it would be “clean”.

If you’re currently wanting everything Gucci like I am, then take a look into this fragrance. It satisfies all the cravings.

Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Chinotto di Liguria

Acqua di Parma Chinotto di Liguria

For the men (and ladies who like a little masculinity in their fragrances), Acqua di Parma has a new fragrance out to add to the Blu Mediterraneo collection.  Chinotto di Liguria highlights the rare chinotto fruit that has been cultivated in Liguria, Italy for centuries. This fruit is bittersweet in taste and is an important ingredient in cakes, pastries, and Italian bitters.

Other notes include mandarin, jasmine, geranium bloom, cardamom, and rosemary.  It also has base notes of musk and patchouli.

This fragrance pre-launced at Holt Renfrew on April 1 and will be available in Canadian Saks and Nordstrom stores on May 1, 2018. It retails for $113/75ml, $172/150ml.

Spring to me is all about florals, and if you love those types of fragrances as well, then you’re certainly going to have to smell these three. You will not be disappointed!

Soft colour: Too Faced Cosmetics Natural Nudes Coconut Butter lipsticks

Okay so we all know how much I love nude lipsticks. I also love matte liquid lipsticks, but to be honest, although I love the staying power on them, most brands offer up very-drying lippies that by the end of the day, I’m usually smearing on lip balm.

When I saw Too Faced’s new It Comes Naturally collection, it didn’t really strike me as something I had to run out and buy, however, after receiving some items from the collection, my thoughts have totally changed.

This collection is amazing because it’s so incredibly wearable.

I received a plethora of items, however, since they sent me all of the Natural Nudes lipsticks, I’m dedicating a whole post to this star product since there are so many of them and they are fantastic. Available in 10 shades, this line of lipstick, which features coconut butter for moisture, runs the gamut of neutral shades. There’s nude-nude, pink-nude, taupe-nude, and even brown-toned nude. Basically, there is a nude for everyone in here (You get a nude! And you get a nude!).

The formula is infused with hydrating coconut butter and applies softly. This is a creamy lipstick that gives you a nice wash of colour and the one-swipe formula delivers a satin finish. Best of all though, these are so incredibly moisturizing and the colour surprisingly stays on for quite a while.

Too Faced was so kind to send me all 10 colours and although some definitely stood out to me more than others at first glance, once I got around to swatching them, I was very impressed with the colour payoff. The darker shades aren’t actually as dark as you would think, and it’s a softer colour as opposed to a harsh payoff that I’m used to with matte liquid lipsticks. I mean obviously Send Nudes, Skinny Dippin’, Nip Slip, and Indecent Proposal are my favourites, but then there’s Strip Search, the pinky-toned nude, and Birthday Suit, the taupe… honestly, all the shades are good. This is the kind of collection where it’s hard to pick just one colour to purchase since they are all so beautiful on. And, not to mention, the comfort these give your lips is just amazing. The colour just glides on and it’s so creamy to wear. Definitely a nice break from my usual matte liquid lipsticks.

These retail for C$26 each at Sephora, and I’m telling you, it’s gonna be tough picking just one shade. You may need two, or three, or all 10. Just sayin’ ;).
