Huge Kiehl’s haul

I’m a huge contest person.  Whenever I see a chance to win something I’m on the ball.  I love the thrill of entering a contest and having the chance to win something major (or minor).  Kiehl’s recently opened up a shop in my local mall a few months ago and I noticed that they were running a contest for hockey tickets, signed jerseys, and pampering at their new location.  So naturally, I entered my name, as well as my mom’s and brother’s.  I didn’t end up winning, however, my mom did.

So this brings me to this:

Yes, dead readers, that is eight bags filled with Kiehl’s goodies (and jerseys).  Aside from the other prizes, my mom got to bring three friends to Kiehl’s for head to toe pampering, which basically just consisted of getting a whole wack of full-size products.

My mom ended up bringing my family and we all got a complete new skin care routine, hair routine, as well as moisturizers, hair products, lip products, you name it.

Here’s what I got:

  • Ultra Facial Cleanser
  • Ultra Facial Toner
  • Ultra Facial Moisturizer
  • Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
  • Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Shampoo
  • Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Conditioner
  • Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Pak
  • Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion
  • Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50
  • Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish
  • Creme de Corps Moisturizer
  • Heat-Protective Silk Straightening Cream
  • Midnight Recovery Concentrate
  • Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
  • Lip Balm #1 in Mango

I haven’t had the chance to try out everything yet, however, the stuff I have tried I’ve really enjoyed.  I’m pretty devoted to my current skin care and hair care routine (Clinique Three Step System for face and Pureology Antifade Complex S&C for hair) but the results from the products I have tried already, I may stray and go to the K side…

I’m going to do separate blog posts for some of the products so I’ll include reviews in there, but I think that Kiehl’s has become my new go-to store for skin care and hair products.  My skin and hair feels super soft, no wonder people rave about this line.

Have you tried any Kiehl’s products?  What are your favourites?

NOTD: Crowded by Urban Outfitters

Happy Monday!  In honour of the gorgeous spring weather we are experiencing here in my city I thought I would get with the season and paint my nails a lilac colour, a nice change from the dreary dark colours from fall and winter.

I picked up this Urban Outfitters shade in Montreal last month and I absolutely love it!  I’ve never tried UO nail polishes prior to this one, but when I was standing in line to pay for a book a hot pink colour caught my eye.  For C$6 I thought why not?  Anyways, when I went to pay the sales lady said that the nail polishes are two for $8 or one for $6.  I thought I might as well shell over the extra $2 and get another shade so I picked this one up.

Okay, if you have an Urban Outfitters near you, go out right now and stock up on their polishes! These varnishes are seriously some of the best I have used.  The colour is just to die for and it goes on quite opaque after one coat.  The best part?  It lasted me like four days before I got some minor chipping.  I’m seriously hooked.  The quality, to me, seems much better than other salon polishes out there like OPI.

Two coats of Urban Outfitters Crowded with Seche Vite basecoat and OPI topcoat

Aside from the polish consistency, I also love the bottle; it reminds me of Deborah Lippmann polishes.  The chic square glass bottle has a rubberized top so it’s easy to unscrew when you want to paint your nails.

Have you tried Crowded by Urban Outfitters or any other polish from the brand?  Leave me a comment below on what your opinions are!

A pop of yellow

So bright colours are totally in for spring, but why stop at fashion?  I recently picked up this bright yellow eyeshadow from Inglot in Montreal and although yellow definitely isn’t for everyday, you can incorporate it in a more subtle way.  I kept my eyes pretty neutral and then used the yellow as an eyeliner along my lower lash lines for a pop of colour.

Let’s start!

First up of course, prime your lids with an eyeshadow primer.  I used Urban Decay’s Primer Potion (my favourite).

Using the colour Virgin from the Urban Decay Naked Palette, apply this all over your lids.

Using a fluffy crease brush, apply a dark grey colour (mine is from Inglot; Gunmetal from the Naked palette is very similar) in the crease and blend it in.

Taking a bright yellow colour, apply this on your lower lash line.  Then, using a black eyeliner, line your waterline.

Next, using the colour Virgin again, apply this on your browbone.

Finishing touches, line your eyes with a black eyeliner.  I used MAC’s Liquid Eye Liner in black and winged it out. Then curl your lashes and apply a mascara both your top and lower lashes.

Lastly, apply either concealer or a highlight under your eyes and some lipstick and you are all done. I used YSL’s Touche Eclat and MAC’s Innocence, Beware! lipstick.  If you choose you can apply the highlight or concealer after your foundation but I usually do this last in case there is any fallout from the eyeshadow.

And we are done!

I hope you enjoy the look and let me know if you tried it out!  I also dyed my hair in Montreal and although I think it’s okay, I don’t love it.  I’ll probably get caramel highlights again in a couple of months.
