Nourished nation: New serums you should try for fall

When it comes to must-have skincare products, a good serum definitely makes my list.

Serums seem to be one of the more pricier skincare items you can buy but they are well worth the price. A serum is a more concentration product that really penetrates into the skin to help with a variety of different concerns.

I have tried a number of different serums throughout the years and love trying out new ones.  I have a few that stand out to me as being stellar products but I’m always on the hunt for a newer and greater ones.

I recently got in a ton of new serums and with drier and colder weather coming up, it’s a great time to put them to the test.

Fresh Tea Elixir Skin Resilience Activating Serum

Fresh Tea Elixir Skin Resilience Activating Serum

When it comes to tried and true skincare lines, Fresh ranks high on my list.

Brand-new, the Fresh Tea Elixir Skin Resilience Activating Serum (C$104 for 30 ml) is an advanced serum that boosts skin’s resilience for smoother texture, a visible glow, restored bounce, and reduced wrinkles.

Great for all types of skin types, this serum is ideal for those who have fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, and dullness. The formula contains Adaptive Phytocompound Tea (APT) technology, which increases skin’s bioenergetic systems and antioxidant protection.  It also has niacinamide to refine the look of pores and improve visible radiance, as well as 5kDA hyaluronic acid to hydrate and minimize the look of lines and wrinkles.

This serum is ideal for morning and night use and will help skin function at its full potential.  If you suffer from lack of sleep, stress, and seasonal changes, which can all lead to visible signs of aging, this would be great for you. I also want to add that this is a clean skincare product, which means it doesn’t contain any ingredients that could be bad for you.

Reversa BIOmimetik Regenerative Serum

Another great new serum to try, and from a Canadian brand, is the Reversa BIOmimetik Regenerative Serum (C$70), which is inspired by the skin’s natural regeneration processes to target key signs of aging and support the skin’s natural elasticity, health, and quality.

This serum is great for helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It contains biomimetic ingredients, which mimic substances or functions that our skin naturally produces and which decrease over time.  With regular use of this serum, the skin looks more rejuvenated, hydrated, and more radiant.

Formula with 99 per cent ingredients of natural origin, this serum contains a plant-based Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), which is an exceptional restorative ingredient, as well as natural biopeptides from cranberries growing in Quebec, and a 3D hyaluronic acid complex, which is composed of six sizes of hyaluronic acid. It also has an extract of Indian gentian leaves to strengthen the skin barrier.

Vichy Liftactiv Supreme H.A. Wrinkle Filler

Another great anti-aging serum is the Vichy Liftactiv Supreme H.A. Wrinkle Filler (C$62.95).

This serum has a high percentage of hyaluronic acid to fill wrinkles and leave you with smoother and more radiant skin.

This serum contains 1.5 per cent pure hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, neuro-peptides, and Vichy’s volcanic water to help reduce wrinkles on the face and eye area by 47 per cent and fine lines by 60 per cent after six weeks of usage.

This serum comes with a unique applicator where you gently press the applicator to dispense two to three drops directly onto the skin.  This is inspired by pharmaceutical standards of safety and allows precise application and limits the risk of bacterial contamination.

Ideal for day and night, this is a great serum to use for wrinkles and fine lines.  Vichy also has two other serums that come in similar bottles, the Liftactiv Supreme Vitamin C Serum  and Liftactiv Specialist B3 Dark Spots Serum.

Biotherm Blue Retinol Night Serum

Biotherm Blue Retinol Night Serum

I’ve always been a big fan of the Biotherm Life Plankton Elixir so when I saw they released a new serum, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

New from the brand, the Blue Retinol Night Serum (C$99) is a powerful serum that targets wrinkles, evens skin tone and skin quality to reveal healthy and youthful skin.

This serum is ideal for nighttime use since it has their Life Plankton and 0.25 per cent retinol in it, which repairs skin while you sleep.  It has a 100 per cent vegan and 92 per cent biodegradable clean formula.  Apply it before bed and you’ll wake up with more even and smooth skin.

This serum pair perfectly with their new Blue Pro-Retinol Cream – Anti-Aging Cream (C$98), which is a retinol anti-aging cream that targets wrinkles and fine lines.  This night-time cream has a 92 per cent natural formula and is infused with 100 per cent natural, renewable, and biodegradable Life Plankton probiotic extracts, which stimulate skin regeneration.

Apply the serum first and then go in with this moisturizer before during your night-time routine.  Make sure to also apply sunscreen the next morning since retinol makes skin more sensitive to UV rays and sunlight.

These are just a few new serums to try out and of course the beauty industry has tons of others to choose from (with new ones introduced everyday). As we are heading into the winter months I’m looking forward to incorporating these into my routine for healthier, smoother, and younger-looking skin.
