Refreshed + rejuvenated: Three skincare products you need to try for August

It’s crazy to think that we have basically one more month left of summer.

Just like last year, 2021 has been flying by and since we have had some great weather this year, it feels like summer has been going on since basically March.

Lately my skin has been looking and feeling really amazing and I obviously contribute it to the weather and the skincare products I’ve been using.  I’ve been getting a ton of new skincare and love learning about the ingredients and benefits in each product.  From acne treatments to new cleansers there are some fabulous products to try this month.

Enough chit chat though, let’s dive right in…

Avon Isa Knox LXNEW Clean Soothing Whipped Oil Cleanser and 2-in-1 Exfolaiting Cleansing Balm

Avon Isa Knox LXNEW Clean Soothing Whipped Oil Cleanser and 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleansing Balm

As part of Avon’s partnership with Korean skincare brand Isa Knox, they have recently released a line of new cleansers.

In total there are four cleansers to try out and each one is aimed for specific skin types with the idea to also be used as a double cleanser. Avon sent me two to try out and both of them sound right up my alley.

Up first is the Clean Soothing Whipped Oil Cleanser ($24.99), which is a gentle whipped formula that is ideal for oily to normal skin. It contains panthenol, which is also known as vitamin B5, as well as aloe.  The ingredients eliminate impurities and excess oil without leaving any residue left over.

Since this is an oil cleanser, it should be used first if you are using the double cleanser method.  The oil helps to break down any makeup or dirt on your skin.  Just dispense the product from the pump and work it into a lather and then apply on the skin.  Follow up with a water-based cleanser, such as your normal cleanser.

If you are looking for a balm cleanser, then take a look at their 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleansing Balm (C$42).

This cleanser melts away makeup and impurities thanks to the balm texture which melts into skin. The formula also contains panthenol (vitamin B5), as well as bamboo stem powder, which contains fine-milled, plant-based fibres which help to draw out impurities so skin looks smoother, clearer, and more radiant. It also contains antioxidants to protect skin from damage.

This cleanser is ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin. All these Clean products contain no parabens, synthetic fragrances and dyes, or mineral oil.  These products were made to be used with your normal cleanser, however, you can use them solo as well.

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream

When it comes to skincare brands that you can find at Sephora, Fresh is definitely high on my list.

Brand new is their Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream (C$59), which is actually an old product but with a new formula. This new moisturizer contains a formula powered by hyaluronic acid with 72-hour hydration and a lightweight texture.

Ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types, use this moisturizer to combat dryness, dullness, and uneven texture.  It contains damask rose extract to retain moisture and support the skin’s barrier, a hyaluronic acid duo to deliver hydration, as well as a time-release technology to continuously deliver hydration to the skin’s surface over that 72-hour period.

With regular use, this moisturizer will help you obtain more hydrated skin, strengthen the skin’s barrier for 24 hours, and look more plump and dewy.  You can use this day and night.

OXY Volcanic Ash Acne Scrub

OXY Volcanic Ash Acne Scrub

Okay, so I’m not usually an acne girl but sometimes I will break out, usually on the lower half of my face (especially recently with the whole mask thing). Anyways, OXY’s Volcanic Ash Acne Scrub (C$8.49) came at the perfect time since it helped to get rid of any pesky acne spots I have had recently.

This scrub contains real volcanic ash, which is nature’s super sponge to draw out any oil or impurities in our pores.  This also contains bentonite clay and activated charcoal so pores get a deep cleaning, as well as two per cent salicylic acid to treat acne and prevent future breakouts.

This is a really treat for skin and once it’s rinsed off, your face will feel clean and ready for the rest of your skincare routine.  Since it’s a scrub, it contains exfoliating biodegradable micro beads to remove dead skin cells gently and efficiently.

I have been loving these products over the past few weeks and they have definitely found a place in my collection since they are such staple items.  I have a few more skincare items coming up soon, but if you are looking for some new items in these categories, these are definitely some must haves to try out.

What has been your favourite skincare items this summer?
