Totally wearable: Revlon ColorStay Foundation and Kiss Plumping Lip Cremes

Foundation and lip colours. I would probably say those are the two items that I get the most of being a blogger.

Always on the hunt for the most perfect formula of lipstick or the most wearable foundation, I never turn down an opportunity to try out a new product. I’ve tried most beauty brands I would say, but a line that I don’t typically wear that often is Revlon. Don’t get me wrong, their stuff is awesome, but since I work with so many brands, I wouldn’t usually go out of my way to purchase a product just because I simply don’t need anything at this point (Sephora VIB sales kill me since I find I’m just spending money to get a small discount on something I really don’t need).

Anyways, the brand recently sent on their ColorStay foundation, which is a classic, as well as their new Kiss Plumping Lip Cremes, and I couldn’t help but be super excited and dive in.

Revlon ColorStay 24-hour foundation

First up, Revlon’s ColorStay foundation is apparently America’s number-one foundation and they offer it in 35 shades for both combination/oily skin and normal/dry skin. This product is dispensed via a pump and it conveniently includes an SPF 20 in it, so it’s perfect for summer. I got the colour Natural Beige for normal/dry skin, which I find is a touch darker than my skin at the moment, but will suit my complexion wonderfully once I start developing some of that summer colour.

Revlon bills this foundation as a flawless coverage that lasts for 24 hours. I didn’t wear it that long, but did find that it held up quite well through an Orange Theory Fitness class, and those classes are no joke. The wear on this is comfortable and lightweight; it’s not heavy or cakey. As for blendability, it goes on smoothly and absorbs in quite nice. It’s a great everyday foundation.

So is it my favourite drugstore foundation? It doesn’t give me that glow I usually like, but it’s a good foundation. The coverage is nice and it doesn’t feel like you are wearing foundation (both how it feels on the face, as well as when you touch your face).

Before and after using Revlon ColorStay 24-hour foundation

At C$16.46 (Walmart Canada pricing), it rivals L’Oreal Paris, but is a little more pricey than Maybelline and Covergirl (both of which are favourites of mine). I think this would be a great summer foundation since it’s lightweight but provides good coverage. Also, the colour selection on this is great and I like how it has an SPF built in.

Now, as for the Kiss Plumping Lip Cremes, these are new from the brand and are available in 10 shades from nudes to pinks to deeps. The brand sent me the colour Cashmere Crème, the nude, and I actually already had Peony Buff already laying around, a pink, so I’m glad I have at least two colours to show and give my fair opinion.

Like the name suggests, these have a cooling sensation in them to gently plump the lips. They also contain Volulip, which Revlon says visibly enhances the size of lips over time. The colour payoff on these aren’t the greatest, but I’m fine with that since the size of them makes it super easy to just toss in your bag. They are also super moisturizing and have a creamy shine finish, so it’s a great everyday lip product. I would wear this with a light foundation or BB cream and some mascara for a no-makeup makeup look.

As for the colours, Cashmere Crème doesn’t have much colour payoff, but Peony Buff does lend a little bit of pink to the lips (especially if you really slather it on). Overall, I would say these are alright. Like I said, these are the perfect lip product to just toss in your bag and go about your day. Sometimes you just don’t want to think about the lipstick you’re going to wear, and these are great for that. Go with the nude or the pink for a universal tone that is easy to wear.

Overall, both of these Revlon products don’t make me want to go out and buy more, however, they do the trick and are perfect for everyday wear.

Have you tried Revlon’s ColorStay Foundation or Kiss Plumping Lip Cremes? What were your thoughts?
