I’ve always been a huge fan of Monopoly. I kid you not, when I texted my brother “hey, can you pull out the Monopoly board, I need it to take some photos”, he replied with “yeah sure, but which one? We have like 15 of them”.

The sad part is, I’m not even lying (we actually have two versions of the original edition).

Star Wars Monopoly, Pokemon Monopoly, Nintendo Monopoly, Canadian Monopoly… literally there is a Monopoly board for everything. Since my family and I love the game so much, we always get so excited for McDonald’s Monopoly, happening from October 11 to November 13.  This year you have one-in-five chances to win and guests have the chance to win $5,000 a week by redeeming any offer on the My McD’s app (a total win-win if you ask me).

I’ve never won anything more than a free food or drink item (I’m totally gunning for a Hudson’s Bay gift card this year… or you know, a vacation, but that might be too ambitious), but if you’re a hardcore like me, you’ll want to stop by the McDonald’s location at 1501 St. Mary’s Road in Winnipeg today. They are holding a live Monopoly event where the sidewalk around the building will be transformed into a giant Monopoly game board, complete with colourful stacks of Monopoly money tucked underneath (and life-sized dice!). The event kicked off yesterday (check out my Instastory  – Shayna_apopofcolour!) and will be around for a limited time, so make sure you pop by to play and get your game pieces.

I’ve already started collecting my game stamps as luckily I often grab my morning coffee from McDonald’s and game pieces are available on medium and large hot McCafé beverages.  They are also available on a number of different food items – so whether you want fries or nuggets, or a Big Mac or a McChicken, your chances at winning are pretty high!
