#GottaTurnItUp – The art of the five-minute face

Title

We’ve all been there.  Alarm goes off, we hit snooze.  Do that five more times and then realize in a panic that hey, I gotta get up and get to work.  No time to eat, no time for makeup, throw on the first thing you see, and you’re out the door.

Well, breakfast is an easy one cause you can just grab something and you’re on your way, but showing up at work with no makeup?  That’s a no-no (at least in my books; nothing screams “I look tired” more than no mascara).  Luckily, it only takes a few steps to go from “I stayed up way too late last night” to “I woke up looking like this”.

Although my regular makeup routine is at least a 12-step process (#beautybloggerproblems), obviously, you ain’t got time for that in five minutes.  No matter how much time I have, washing your face in the morning is a must.  I love Olay Fresh Effects {Out of this Swirled} Deep Pore Clean & Exfoliating Scrub (actually though, I’m already on my second bottle of the stuff), which will prep your face and wash away any remains of yesterday’s face.  After, make sure you apply an eye cream, which will keep your eyes looking young and fresh (I’m 26 and people often think I’m 23… one lady at the gym last week thought I was 18).  Olay Fresh Effects {Bright on Schedule} Eye Awakening Cream is great as the cooling applicator massages as it hydrates to reduce the look of puffiness and dark circles.   Finally, moisturize your skin to keep it soft and supple.  Use Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer for an instant boost of cooling hydration with honeysuckle and anti-oxidant-rich white tea.

Onto makeup!  Pull a triple whammy with a BB cream!  Olay Fresh Effects {BB Cream!} Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizing Cream says bye bye to blotches and leaves your skin looking healthy and glowing, plus covers up minor imperfections.  Mascara is a must in my books, so curl your lashes and then apply a few coats of CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara, my favourite drugstore mascara due to the precisely designed bristles, which really coats and separates every lash for the perfect fringe. To finish up, toss CoverGirl Lipsticks Smoochies Lip Balm in #BeSweet in your bag for a nude lip that keeps them moisturized all day long.

For hair, obviously ain’t nobody got time for that, but make sure you wash your locks the night before (which will leave you considerable time in the morning).  For strong hair, try Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong Shampoo and Condition’er.  To detangle and add shine, apply the Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong Silkening Spray to your damp locks for glossy hair the next morning.  Toss a hairspray in your bag (like Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Tousling Hairspray, which is in a non-aerosol can – perfect for hot days.. aka no explosions), and do a low chignon or braid while you are working on emails at work.

before and after

Follow these steps and no one at your job will know you woke up 20 minutes ago ;).
