Bright eyed: Garnier BB Eye Miracle Skin Perfector

BB title

Just when you thought BB creams and skin perfecters couldn’t be more diverse, obviously we had to see a BB cream concealer.

From the first brand to bring BB to NA (as in North America), Garnier has recently released the BB Eye Miracle Skin Perfector, a BB concealer.  If you have tried their BB cream (aka the Miracle Skin Perfector), you’ll know how much of a life saver it is for your face.  Don’t want the heavy coverage of a foundation?  That’s where a BB cream comes in handy.

Rollerball

The BB Eye Miracle Skin Perfector is the first BB created for the eye area to correct dark circles and puffiness in one step.  It’s squeeze-tube (complete with rollerball and all) contains a unique formulation that features two key ingredients – Haloxyl (known for its ability to treat under-eye bags and dark circles) and mineral pigments (which evens out skin tone).  The product has five effects in one simple step: reduces under-eye bags and dark circles; erases signs of fatigue; smoothes fine lines; brightens the eye contour; moisturizes for 24 hours.

I’ve been using this product for about a month now and I’ve mostly been layering it under my concealer for effect.  I don’t really see a difference, but it does conceal pretty well on its own.  It’s been a staple in my “lazy day” makeup routine – BB or CC cream, this stuff, lip balm or gloss and mascara.

Cube

The product has a SRP of C$19.99, which is quite pricey.  I’m sure though that most drugstores will be selling it for cheaper (Garnier’s BB cream retails for way less than this little thing).  If you are a low-key kinda gal, I would look into this.  I do like the product, but for the most part, I don’t suffer from dark circles, fine lines, or anything like that, so I’m probably not the best model for this product.  It does brighten the eye contour, but I mean concealers are designed to do this too, and you can find a lot of great concealers for under the $10 mark.

Have you tried Garnier’s Eye Miracle Skin Perfector?  What were your thoughts?

Feeling cheeky: Revlon cream blushes

Title

So I totally had and OMG moment the first time I tried Revlon’s cream blushes.

A couple of months back, Make Up For Ever released their second-skin HD blushes, which are actually close to being the best cheek product ever created.  Everyone needs at least one in their collection.  The downside is that they are $26 a pop, which for any beauty junkie, one can justify it, but if you aren’t a huge beauty girl, it’s kind of expensive.  Plus, with 15 shades, it can be hard to narrow it down to just one.

Well, lucky for us ladies, Revlon has come out with their own cream blushes.  And yes, you need these too.

colours

Available in four shades, these lightweight, non-greasy cream formulas give you a rich flush of colour, and best of all, I would even say that they are a great dupe for the Make Up For Ever ones.  I received the colours Flushed (a fuchsia pink) and Coral Reef (a coral), both of which I believe were released previously but under Revlon’s PhotoReady line.  You can apply these with your finger, but I like using an angled blush brush that I just dip the product onto and then dab it across my cheek area, and voila! perfectly flushed cheeks.  The best part is that these bad boys blend amazingly and they last all day.

Coral Reef Flushed

If you haven’t tried cream blushes and are scared of what they are like, seriously give these a try.  The colour you get is fab and are so easy to blend and I find they tend to look more natural.  The trick though is to apply a cream product over a cream product.  So use these if you are sporting a cream foundation or BB cream.  Although you certainly can apply these over powder (rules are always meant to be broken), I find it’s a more natural look when applied over cream.

One more thing…

Falling for neutrals with Yves Rocher

Neutral title

As much as I hate to admit it, summer is almost over.  There’s just over a month to go before we hit fall, but fret not, with the end of the summer approaching that means that summer makeup is transitioning into more neutral colours, which happen to be my personal fave.

I love a good neutral eye.  I have so many eyeshadow palettes, but I always gravitate towards the tried and true – browns and taupes.  So imagine my excitement when I opened Yves Rocher’s new Quad Eyeshadow Sumptuous Color in neutrals.

eyeshadow palette mascara

Yves Rocher is releasing six different palettes next month designed with a smoky eye in mind.  Used dry, these shadows are ultra-pigmented for a satin or matte effect.  When wet, the shimmer and satin shades turn metallic and the matte shades become dense for a more intense look.  The colours are infused with rice extract and can be applied to create a variety of different looks.

I received two of the palettes – 06. Brun Incandescent and 03. Aquatique Subtil – as well as their new Volume Elixir mascara, which has hibiscus peptides that reinforce and repair lashes.  I have tried Yves Rocher’s mascaras before and they are some of the best out there in my opinion.  Both of these products come in a gorgeous rose gold package, which makes them uber-inticing to use.
Steps 1. First place a primer all over your lid area then fill in your brows. Then, with the lightest shimmery shade, place this along your brow bone acting as your highlight.

2. With the lighter of the two matte brown shades and a fluffy crease brush, apply this colour underneath your highlight and into your crease, acting as your transition shade.

3. With the darkest matte brown and a dense eyeshadow brush, pat this on your lid area.  Then, using a fluffy crease brush, blend this lightly into your crease.

4. Skip the eyeliner and add a couple coats of mascara and then pop on some falsies for drama.

5. To finish, line your lower lash line with the darkest brown and then add a couple coats of mascara.

Final 1

And voila!  The easiest brown smoky eye ever.   I haven’t yet tried the blue palette, but the brown is a must-have for anyone.  Same goes for the mascara. Make sure you head on over to Yves Rocher in September to pick these up, you won’t regret it!
