The feather weight: Kiss Looks So Natural lashes

LASH title

So when it comes to false lashes, there’s the drugstore kinds that feel kind-of plastic-y and then there are the creme-de-la-creme of the lash world, the mink kinds.  Well, my friends, if you are looking for an affordable version of natural-looking, comfortable, and most of all soft lashes, Kiss has you covered.

The Kiss Looks So Natural lashes have revolutionary tapered-ends technology, which means they blend seamlessly with your natural lashes for a more comfortable and normal look.  Basically, they are supposed to look and feel like you aren’t wearing any false lashes at all.

Available in three kinds (in Canada at least, in the United States there are more), you can find a lash to suit any function.  If you want something subtle, try Sultry; if you want a more typical false lash, Shy is perfect; and for those girls who want maximum drama, look no further than Flirty.

I have tried all three and love all of them.  I like how they are each so different, that I can differentiate what instance I would wear each one. For Sultry, I like popping these on with just mascara’d lashes for a natural look.  For a good smoky eye lash, don’t apply any liner, just apply Flirty along your lash line.  They may look scary in the package, but I was surprised by how natural these were.  They don’t look too long once applied.  Finally, for the most versatile, try Shy, as you can wear these for really any occasion.

I do have to say that the wear on these are very comfortable.  I wear contacts and sometimes, depending on if the lash is flexible, they can irritate my contacts.  I didn’t get that feeling with these, also they are very light, you don’t really feel them at all. I applied them using Duo lash adhesive (the black one), but Kiss also manufactures their own adhesive as well.

As for the band, I often find inexpensive lashes to be quite straight and stiff, but these are very flexible, making them really simple to apply.

Overall, I love this line of lashes.  The best part is that they retail for under $5 a pair, so you really can’t go wrong.  Inexpensive, comfortable, and flattering?  What more could you ask for in a lash?

Have you tried Kiss Looks So Natural lashes yet?

Yves Rocher’s new lipsticks are ‘da balm

Title

As much as I love rocking a darker lip, the maintenance of it is such a turn-off for me that I will often pass on some of my darker colours to rock a lighter one instead.  Instead of carrying around a deep shade, plus a liner, plus a gloss, a good cheat is to just rock a coloured balm.

Yves Rocher recently released a new line of lipsticks that have the colour of a lipstick, the moisture of a balm, and the shine of a gloss.  Available in 12 shades, Yves Rocher’s Sheer Botanical Lipsticks are infused with cherry oil, which gives extraordinary shine and light refraction powers.  It’s also rich in Omega 6 and 9, which are natural sources of protection and nutrition.

Labels Tops

I received six shades from the line, everything from a bright pink to a burgundy, to corals. These lipsticks are quite sheer, but have buildable colour, which is perfect for the darker shades, making them a bit easier to work with.  The texture is similar to a balm, so they are quite moisturizing, but I did find that my lips feel dry once they start to wear away, so I had to keep reapplying the product to keep the moisture.

cerise noire CORAIL DOUX MARRON GLACE ROSE VIF ROUGE GROSEILLE TANGERINE

My favourite shade from the ones I received is Corail Doux.  These do have English names as well, but mine all have the French labels on them. I believe the English version of that one is Soft Coral.

Overall, I was impressed with these, mostly because some of the colours I received aren’t typically colours I would gravitate towards, however, once I tried them on, they were quite impressive. These retail on Yvesrocher.ca for $17 but they have a sale going on right now for $9.50 each.

Will you be trying out Yves Rocher’s Sheer Botanical lipsticks?

Holi-daze: A {festive} look feat. The Body Shop

Holidaze title It’s not even Halloween yet, but in true retail fashion, stores are already starting to introduce their holiday collections.  I typically save all my holiday gift guides for closer to the season (AKA November), but I couldn’t resist posting just this one.

This isn’t a review, but instead a tutorial using The Body Shop’s new Enchanting Eyes quad in Dolly Pastels, a quad palette with four shadows, perfect for blue eyes.  Encased in a Christmas jumper case, these four shades (three frosts and one matte), is a perfect gift for any girlfriend (who wouldn’t love an eyeshadow palette). There is also a twin palette (Frosted Pastels), which is more suited for brown eyes.

Closed palette Palette

I couldn’t wait to start playing with this guy, so since I was going out last Friday night, I took the opportunity to create a smoky creamsicle look.  I used all the colours from the palette aside from the shimmery purple.

How’s how to recreate it.

Steps 1. Fill in your brows, then pop the cream shimmery colour along your brow bone to highlight.

2. Lay down an eyeshadow primer (I used Benefit’s RSVP), then with an orange shadow (I used MUFE S-798, one of the new Artist Shadows from Make Up For Ever), place this under your highlight just above the crease, acting as your transition colour.

3. Using a crease brush (like a MAC 217), dip it in the matte brown colour from the palette and work this into your crease.

4. Using an eyeshadow brush, sweep the orange colour on your lids.  I did find this colour to be a bit sheer, so you may have to build it up.

5. With the matte brown from the palette, apply this to your lower lash line, then coat your bottom lashes in mascara.

6. Line your upper lash line, making a cat eye. Curl your lashes, apply a coat of mascara, and then if you want to up the sex factor, pop on a pair of falsies.

Final 1

And that’s the final look.  Super easy and so on trend for the holiday season.

This was my first foray into The Body Shop shadows and I was very happy with the consistency of these.  I do want to note that there is some slight fall out with the shimmery shades so I would apply foundation last.  Also, I may just be obsessed with the packaging on this product, so much so, that maybe some of my friends will be finding this same palette in their stocking this year..

Will you be picking up one of The Body Shop’s Enchanting Eyes palettes this holiday season?
