Lashing out: Yves Rocher Volume Elixir mascara

Lashing out title
I’ve always been a huge fan of Yves Rocher’s mascaras.  Mascara is definitely one of those hit or miss beauty products.  I’ve tried great ones, and ones that I wouldn’t even give the time of day to again.  Also, price doesn’t always justify a great product.  I know tons of drugstore mascaras that are way better than their prestige counterparts.

One of my favourite mascaras is Yves Rocher’s Volume Vertige mascara, which gives you true false-like lashes.  Their products are relatively cheap if you order them online, which in Canada is the best place to get them.  I’ve been to actual stores in Europe, but they only have physical retailers in Ontario and Quebec in Canada. As a result, it can be quite difficult to know if what you are ordering will be good.  Well, I’ve tried many products from the line and haven’t used anything I haven’t liked.  Their new mascara being one of them.

The Volume Elixir mascara combines volumizing texture with Hisbiscus peptides, which are known for their filmogen and nourishing properties.  These peptides also protect and reinforce the keratinous lash fiber.

The conical brush with double fibers allows for a thorough application of the product, leaving you with long, voluminous lashes.  If there is one thing that the brand knows how to do well, it’s definitely mascara.  Compared to its predecessor Volume Vertige, I do like that one better, but with that being said, Volume Elixir is amazing as well.  For sure one of the best mascaras I have tried.  The best part?  It’s currently 41 per cent off at Yves Rocher online, so instead of C$22, you can buy it for C$13. Grab two because you’ll be using so much of this stuff, you’ll blink and you’ll be done!

Have you tried Yves Rocher’s mascaras?

Jingle balms! eos holiday 2014 smooth spheres

EOS TITLE I know, I know, it’s not even Halloween, but I just can’t resist talking about holiday 2014 products.  This definitely is my favourite season for cosmetics because everything is so colourful and fun, and best of all, available as value sets!

Lip balm all-star eos has released the cutest (and yummiest!) flavours of their Smooth Spheres, inspired by fashion designer Rachel Roy (who doesn’t love a designer collab?).  Available as a three pack or a single pack, these little egg-shaped bad boys are seriously hard to resist this season.

The balms this season are inspired by sun-filled travel destinations: Indian Summer (orange blossom), Barbados Heat (Wildberry), St. Bart’s Sunrise (pink grapefruit), and Aloha Hawaii (strawberry kiwi).  Not only do they smell absolutely delish (plus the colours of the balms are definitely the chicest I’ve seen from the line), but they also incorporate Rachel’s signature “wings design” on the eos spheres.

balms wings The three pack includes pink grapefruit, orange blossom, and strawberry kiwi (C$10.00 SRP), with the one pack of wild berry retailing for C$3.99 SRP).  eos lip balms are USDA-certified organic and 100 per cent natural. They are enriched with nourishing shea butter and soothing jojoba oil.  They are also petrolatum free, paragon free, and gluten free.

I did receive the eos smooth sphere holiday set from last year and found these are the perfect little stocking stuffers.  Either gift the set or break it up and toss it in with a bunch of other goodies.  Everyone needs a lip balm and with these cute colours and irresistible scents, this one is a must this season.

Will you be picking up the eos Rachel Roy collection?

Made to go: Sephora mini holiday sets

Title

I don’t know about you, but I’m such a sucker for the Sephora-to-go section.  You know that area right before the cash desk when you are standing in line and they have minis of everything and all the items are so cute.  Yeah, I kinda have a weak spot for travel-sized and value-priced items.

The great thing about that section of the store (maybe not so much for your wallet) is that everything is just so handy.  I’ve recently started carrying around a pouch of makeup in my day bag for touch ups when I need them.  Although most items are travel sized, others can be difficult to find.  Want a diverse eyeshadow palette? A selection of blushes?  Yeah, try finding something compact enough to carry with you everywhere you go.  Well, the peeps at Sephora must have had us ladies in mind when they released their holiday value palettes. From eyeshadows to blushes, you can find a set this holiday season for just about every situation.

blush palette

In my work makeup pouch I keep NARS Orgasm and Smashbox Suntan Matte Bronzer, which are both universal shades, however, girl wants to have options.

The Sephora Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette is a sleek face palette with a universal bronzer shade and two blushes – a classic and a pink for a pop of colour.

Consisting of Los Cabos bronzer (which is a Sephora best seller), Blushing Pink Blush and Coral Punch Blush, this handy palette also features a mirror for quick touchups on the go.  The best part? It retails for C$18, which is much less than the price of one NARS blush.

Gloss palette Liquid lipstick

Seriously, what girl doesn’t have at least five lipsticks and glosses rolling around in her bag?  Replace them with the Lip Artist Palette (C$20), which houses four lip glosses and four poured lipstick shades.

Take your lip look from day to night and mix and match to create a custom lip look. The set also includes two mini lip brushes.

Definitely one of the best bang-for-your-buck palettes I’ve come across, the Sephora All Access Glam Gold and Silver Eye and Face Palette is filled with four blush shades, eight eyeshadows, and a universal highlighter.

For C$20 (yes, twenty dollars), this super cute palette (with a huge mirror – always a plus!) is the perfect compact for your purse solely based on the assortment of colours it contains.  You can create so many different eye looks with this, and really all you are missing is a bronzer. Finally, one of my personal favourites this year from Sephora, the VIP Pass Eyeshadow Palette is a credit card-sized palette containing eight neutral eyeshadows.  Create a daytime or nighttime look with any of these iridescent or matte-finish shadows and then toss the envelope-esque compact into your bag.  The only thing this palette is missing is a mirror, but for C$12, you can’t go wrong with this guy.  This one is an absolute must!

I’m super impressed with the holiday offerings from Sephora this year.  They always put out some incredible sets and at these price points, they make some great gifts, stocking stuffers, or even little presents for yourself.  I mean, travel-sized items are always needed in anyone’s collection.

Are you going to pick up any sets from Sephora this year?
