Sweet & sexy: Valentine’s Day picks from Organique

title

Chocolates, flowers and teddy bears are so last year.

Although I do love all three, flowers die, chocolates go straight to my tummy (summer is coming up and I’m going to EDC in Vegas in June – dieting starts now), and I mean really, what am I supposed to do with a teddy bear (I’m not knocking all three, but they just aren’t for me).  If you are at a loss on what to give this year for Valentine’s Day, a good old standby are some bath and body products.

I’ve mentioned Organique Cosmetics on here before, but the brand is a natural cosmetics line hailing from Poland.  They recently set up shop here in Canada and the reason I love them so much is because they are a bit more exclusive than other brands and I absolutely love their products.  From the natural ingredients to the scents, and the fact that they are European, this brand makes some great gifts.  So if you are looking for items that are more luxurious than your typical bath and body retailer from the mall, take a look at these.

Since Valentine’s Day is all about love, if you are getting it on with someone special this year, Organique has all the tools to have you covered.

soaps

Candles

Get started by lighting some scented candles. I love the Red Currant one for its extreme fragrant aroma. They are long burning and best of all, organic, natural and eco-friendly.   These were meant especially for those with sensitivity issues.

Soaps

Okay, this one is a given (especially if there are hearts in them), but their glycerin soap will leave your skin scented and hydrated.  These are pretty affordable, so grab one or two and throw them in a gift bag with some other sweet items.  Great for loved ones or friends.

Bath bombs

A bath staple, who doesn’t love throwing in a bath bomb to end your day?  Make your night extra sexy by using in a raspberry-scented one, which moisturizes and nourishes dry skin while bathing. Nutritional soy bean and grape seed oils smooth, regenerate and nourish skin. Not only will your bath smell like raspberries (they also offer other fragrances as well), but your skin will be smelling like fresh raspberries right after your bath.

oils

Bath Nectar

One of my favourite products (because its pink and sparkly obvi) is the Sensitive Bath Nectar from their Bloom Essence line in theirJapanese Cherry scent.  This gel soothe and rejuvenates the skin, while giving it a healthy appearance.  The extract from Japanese Cherries is rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and C and rejuvenates and strengthens blood vessels with nutrients. I absolutely love the packaging on this particular product, even if you aren’t using it for that special Valentine’s Day night, it would make a great gift.

Bath & Massage Oil

Finally, what would Valentine’s Day be without a little massage oil? Their oils can be used both in a bath or for a massage (or both!).  Oil based on a  sunflower oil, rich in fatty acids and vitamins that strengthen, soften, and moisturizes and normalizes the skin. This oil (like other Organique products) contains no parabens, PEG-S, or formaldehyde donors, and many other ingredients that are found in other oils, making it totally safe for your health.

As for the next product, well I would imagine it would be something from Victoria’s Secret ;).

Whether you are getting your sweet or sexy on this Valentines’ Day, bath and body stuff is a must.  Check out Organique online for more V-Day appropriate items.

Besos! A Valentine’s Day look

Less than one week away until one of my favourite holidays!

I’ve actually never celebrated Valentine’s Day with a guy, but being a total girly-girl, it’s still one of my absolute favourite holidays.  I’ve been planning this year’s festivities for more than a week in advance (friends, be on the lookout for gifts!), but the number-one thing for me is spending the day doing things I love with the people I love most. I’m going to get my hair coloured during the day and then what was originally going to be a night of red velvet cake eating and then Fifty Shades of Grey with my best guy friend (I sent him the knife emoji basically tell him we are hanging out), turned out to be getting a massive crew together and spending it at Festival du Voyageur (a big two-week French Canadian festival in Winnipeg).

Anyways, if you are spending Valentine’s Day going out with either your bf or bff, there is nothing sexier than a red lip.  My usual go-to date look is a brown/gold smoky eye and a nude lip, but since it’s V-Day, a little red lipstick is totally appropriate (which is kind of ironic since you can’t really kiss with red).  Anyways, for this Valentine’s Day look, I went with a neutral eye with some subtle gold and purple and then topped it off with Lise Watier’s Baiser Velours matte lip colour in Love Kiss for the most Valentine’s Day-appropriate lip.

Final 1 Steps 1. Fill in your brows, then lay down a shimmery white eyeshadow primer.  I used MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study.  Then, with MAC’s Satin Taupe and a fluffy crease brush, work this lightly into your crease.

2. With a gold-toned shimmery nude, like MAC All That Glitters, place this all over your lid.

3. Using a lavender shade, like MAC Beautiful Iris, place this on the centre of your lids. This is supposed to be very subtle, so don’t use a shade that’s very pigmented.

4. With a gold (the one I used was from a limited edition MAC collection probably six years back, I forgot the name because it was depotted, but any gold will do), place this along the inner corner of your eyes.

5. Line your upper lash line and then apply a couple coats of mascara. Because I wanted the focal point on the lips, I used a brown pencil liner as I find that brown is more subtle than black, especially for blue eyes.  I used MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Stubborn Brown. For mascara, I used CoverGirl Bloomsies Lash Blast mascara with NYC Show Time Smokin’ Hot mascara over top.  Feel free to add some falsies for a flirtier eye look.

6. With Satin Taupe, lightly dust this along your lower lash line.  Then, with a shimmery cream shadow (like MAC Phloof!), place this along the inner lash line.  After, apply a coat of mascara to your bottom lashes.

7. Apply your foundation and concealer (I used NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Vallarius and Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer), then set your concealer with a banana powder (I used the banana shade from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit).  Carve out your cheekbones and contour (also used a shade from the Contour Kit), and then apply a pink blush.  I used Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 215. For a highlight, I used the highlight shade from the Sephora x Pantone Universe Radiant Orchid cheek palette (it’s the same highlight as this year’s Marsala version).

8. For the lips, first line your lips using a red liner (I used CoverGirl Lip Perfection liner in Passion), then with a matte red, carefully apply this to your lips.  I used Lise Watier Baiser Velours in Love Kiss.

final 2

Make sure to spray your face with a makeup setting spray (I used L’Oreal Paris Infallible makeup setting spray) so you look fresh and radiant all night. Pair this look with a cream lace top for a sweet look, or a little black dress for something sexier.

A lesson in wearing Marsala…

TITLE

So you want to rock Pantone’s Color of the Year but don’t know how?  Well, lucky for you, I would say that Marsala is the easiest shade to rock, compared to years past.  Sure, emerald and tangerine are pretty (let’s not forget about Radiant Orchid either), but when it comes down to it, they aren’t the most wearable shades.

Although some brands have released a stand-aloneMarsala collection (cough Sephora), many brands – drugstore and prestige – already have many products that come in shades close to RGB 150-79-76 (that’s graphic design talk for the colour codes – red, green, and black).  I do find Marsala incredibly easy to wear, but the trick is not to go too over the top with it.  Rock some Marsala nails, with a deep lip to match, or a coloured liner with berry cheeks.

liner and cheeks Angora Cardi In Stitches

Some of my favourite drugstore products that come in Marsala-like shades include Maybelline New York ColorSensational The Creamy Mattes in Touch of Spice, Maybelline New York SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in Wine and Forever, Maybelline New York Maybelline New York ColorSensational Lip Liner in Mocha.  For the nails, rock either Essie polish in ‘angora cardi’ or ‘in stitches’.  For the cheeks, take a look at Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick in Make a Mauve.

products 1 lips and eyes

Now if you have blue eyes like me, you’ll know that pinks and purples will make your eyes pop.  I’ve been rocking the Sephora Pantone Metalshine Liquid Liner with a neutral eye and some black mascara.  When I first got this, this product was probably my least favourite from the collection, but then I tried it out and has become part of my weekly routine. This liner leaves you with a fabulous metallic line that stays all day, and best of all, is such a gorgeous pop of colour that you’ll have people commenting on your eyes constantly.

color tattoo lips

If you wanted to go for a less subtle look, try the Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo Leather Cream Gel Shadow in Vintage Plum, which isn’t true Marsala, but comes pretty close.  You can wear this alone for a flush of colour, or as a base.

However you choose to wear it, make sure you aren’t going overboard.  Pick one area to feature, like your lips or your eyes, and then play that up.  I wasn’t a big fan of this year’s Color of the Year choice when I first heard it, but then when I actually started playing around with it, it’s easily the most wearable compared to the last three years.  Either way you look at it, it’s on trend (it always reminds me of the Kylie Jenner lip) and is neutral enough to play up or dull down.

Let me know your favourite way of rocking Marsala.
