Nice legs! Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Makeup Lotion

Sally Hansen title One of my favourite things to do during my lunch break is peruse fashion blogs.  As much as I love getting outfit ideas from some of my favourite bloggers, it can often leave me with major leg envy.  Is it just me or does every fashion bloggers have perfect legs?  Okay, I know a lot of you can just blame it on Photoshop, but really, no matter how many lunges or squats I do, I just can’t seem to get those perfect, flawless legs.

Well one of my secret weapons for temporarily having flawless gams is Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs Leg Makeup.  I reviewed this product two years ago in the spray format and although I still use it and love it, I’ve always found that the product can be quite messy to apply. You’re supposed to spray it directly in your hands first and then rub it onto your skin. The problem is that the spray can get everywhere, all over your bathroom floor, on your clothes, etc.  Well luckily Sally Hansen I guess realized this too and they actually released a lotion version of this miracle product.

For those of you unfamiliar with Airbrush Legs, it camouflages veins, pores, bruises, etc., leaving you with flawless, smooth-looking legs, kinda like you’re wearing pantyhose.  It’s waterproof and doesn’t transfer on clothes once dry (with that being said, I still wouldn’t wear white with this stuff).  Both the spray and lotion comes in four shades: Light Glow, Medium Glow, Tan Glow, and Deep Glow.  I’ve tried them all except for Deep Glow, and my favourite is Tan Glow when paired with a self tan.  Because the hemlines tend to get shorter in the hotter months, I usually only wear this during summer, so I can pull off the Tan Glow colour.

Before and After

Anyways, back to the lotion version, this works the same way as the spray formula but comes in a convenient squeeze bottle, where it’s so much more cleaner and easier to apply.  The product also isn’t cold like the spray version and it doesn’t feel as greasy as it either.  I have tried it both applied directly as is and mixed with a moisturizer.  Both ways work, however, I get a more even application when it’s applied as is.

Overall, both formulations work the same way and give you the same result, however, I have to say that if you were new to the product and wanted to try it out but confused on which kind to get, buy with the lotion version, it’s so much more cleaner and easier to apply compared to the spray.  No one likes scrubbing their floors getting their leg makeup out (oh the joys of looking perfect 😉 ).

Have you tried Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs?  Which formulation is your favourite?

Feeling balmy: Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain

Title

Is it a lip balm?  Is it a gloss?  A lipstick?  Well, Revlon’s new ColorStay Moisture Stains fall into all three categories.

I have to admit that I haven’t dabbled too much into Revlon products, but when I do, I always seem to like what I see.  Remember the hype around the Colorburst Lip Butters a couple years ago?  I, of course, had to jump on that bandwagon and the hype was worth it, they are amazing.

Revlon seems to have it down when it comes to lip products and their new ColorStay Moisture Stains don’t disappoint. In packaging similar to YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture, these stains come in 12 shades running the gamut of colours.  I was gifted two shades at the London Drug’s Beauty Event (the Revlon booth was where it was at) and I chose London Posh, a nude, and Miami Fever, an orange.

These are unlike anything I have in my collection as they go on quite wet and then get thicker resembling the texture of a lip balm.  The only thing similar in terms of marketing would be Maybelline’s Color Elixirs, but those feel like a lip balm as soon as you apply it. The Revlon version feels like the Maybelline once it’s dry, but on first application it goes on quite thin and then thickens out. The colour is long lasting, leaving a subtle stain on the lips the longer you wear it.  Best of all, it’s not sticky like a typical lip gloss.

Overall, these feel quite comfortable on the lips, probably having to do with the fact that they are infused with aloe and Vitamin E.  I recommend applying these over dry lips for the best coverage, as when I applied London Posh over my usual “foundation lips”, it looked quite patchy.  With that being said, I do like the look of Miami Fever overtop of an orange lipstick, as it makes the colour pop more and add a hint of shine.

Overall, I do enjoy these but I wish they came in more colours!  I wish that Revlon included more lighter shades, but besides personal preference (you know me, I love baby pinks and true nudes), they are wearable colours.

Brit tips: Rimmel London Rita Ora Fall 2014 capsule collection polishes

Rita Ora

Back in March when I visited London, one of the highlights was checking out all the makeup in the UK drugstores that we don’t have back home. Even though there were loads of brands that we have in North America, there were tons of collections and products that aren’t “across the pond”, one of which was Rita Ora’s collection for Rimmel London.

Well, lucky for us North American folks, the Rita Ora capsule collection is launching this fall in drugstores nationwide. Items in the collection include the brand’s new Colour Rush Lip Balms in seven new shades, as well as their 60 Second Nail Polish in six fun colours.

I received two varnishes from the line, 323 Don’t Be Shy, a pink fuchsia, and 203 Lose Your Lingerie, a baby pink.  The other colours are 873 Breakfast in Bed, a mint green; 863 Do Not Disturb, a turquoise blue/green; 703 White Hot, a white; and 613 Midnight Rendezvous, a deep purple.  Each bottle features Ora’s face done in pop art, which if you are a fan of hers (I’m not, although I do love her single “I Will Never Let You Down”), these are a must!

Lose Your Lingerie

At first glance, they didn’t look too stellar to me.  Lose Your Lingerie is a pale baby pink shade which I have a ton of already, and Don’t Be Shy looked like a regular pink to me. Then I put them both on and I was blown away.  Lose Your Lingerie is the perfect pale baby pink, the kind that makes your hands look tan, no matter how pale you are.  It reminds me a lot of one of my favourite colours, OPI’s Mod About You.  As for Don’t Be Shy, to be honest, when I saw it it was one of those colours where I was like “this one is going to be given away”, but then I tried it on and it’s so eye-catching and much prettier on the nails than in the bottle.

As for formula, the colour goes on quite opaque after two coats, however, if you really lay it on you can get away with one coat.  Just like their Salon Pro polishes, it features a wide, flat brush that really makes the colour glide on perfectly.

Honestly, Rimmel London knows how to do nail polish and every varnish I’ve tried by them has blown me away in both formulation, colour, and longevity.  Both shades lasted quite a few days before chipping.  The best part?  At $3.99 a pop, these are great value.
