Pretty pout: Rimmel London x Kate Moss nude lipstick collection

Kate Moss title

I feel like the words “Kate Moss” and “nude” go hand in hand.  So naturally, it came as no surprise to me that the famous British model released her own line of nude lipsticks as part of her collaboration with Rimmel London.

Launched this month for a SRP of C$7.99, this five product collection (four shades and one balm) is the perfect addition to the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Collection (I mean, everyone is coming out with a nude line). In case you’ve never tried Lasting Finish, these lipsticks are super-moistuzing that pack on colour and smell delish.

Lipsticks

Unlike other nude lines that I’ve tried from other brands, I do find all four colours to be very flattering on my pale skin tone.  Often, brands will throw in a dark, vampy shade, suitable for darker skin tones, but it seems like they want to keep things on the lighter side, no matter the shade of your skin.

The colours include:

  • 40 – a pale nude
  • 42 – an apricot nude
  • 43 – a tan nude
  • 45 – a rose nude

40 42 43 45

Since hydrated lips are a must for wearing any nude lipstick, they also released a lip conditioning balm (the one in the white tube), which has key ingredients of castor oil and pomegranate extract. The balm provides immediate relief from that dry feeling, helps prevent lips against cracking and chapping, and gives them a nice glow. Best of all, since the product is housed in the cute Lasting Finish casing, this guy looks so cute on any desktop or purse (who would think it’s actually a balm?!).

Overall, I am really impressed with this collection.  I have some other Lasting Finish colours and have always loved the consistency of them (in fact, I find Rimmel’s lipsticks to be some of the most moisturizing lipsticks in my collection in general), so I was so excited to try out the nude collection.  I also love the fact that all the colours are really flattering, which is great for me since I’m so light. If you are darker, I would say err on the side of caution if you don’t being too light.

Have you tried Rimmel London’s new Kate Moss Nude line?

Last call! Three items you need before summer ends

Last call title

Well friends, the end is near.

Here in Winnipeg the weather has been chilly these past few days (I actually had to use the seat warmer in my car this morning on my way to my workout class). But since summer technically isn’t over until September 21, you can still bask in all that sunny – albeit chilly – glory.

Even though I’m looking forward to pumpkin everything, I do have some items and trends that you just have to try before the season ends.

Virgin Mojito

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

Everything about this sweet collection is just YASSSSSSS. Although I don’t think it would matter if this contained rum or not, these products will have you lusting over a patio, stat.

The lime and mint-scented line consists of their famous body butter, body scrub, shower gel, body sorbet, and a body splash, which is something new from The Body Shop which I’ve never tried before.  It works like a fragrance that you rub on, as opposed to spraying it all over.

My must-haves include the body splash, body wash, and body sorbet.  This collection is in stores now and they even offer a gifts complete with a martini shaker. Cheers!

liner

Colourful eyeliner

Although I’m always game for this trend, I love rocking an intense blue liner, especially layered over a black cat eye.  There’s something about this look that just screams summer.

Although I own a ton of different colourful liners, I’ve been loving the Kat Von D Ink It! liquid liner in Nerdrum, a sea blue, and Dali, a teal.  The felt-tip liner give you precise, intense colour, perfect for those final summer nights.

Yves Rocher

Yves Rocher Radiant Lip Crayon

Although I love rocking a nude or pink lip all year round, these pencils from Yves Rocher are the perfect summer accessory.

Available in a variety of shades that can easily transition into fall, these affordable lip crayons provides moisture to your lips, while providing them with radiant colour for a subtle lip tint. Because these particular shades are so light, you can easily throw these in your bags, no matter the occasion; they go with everything!

Whether it’s grasping onto the final smells of summer, or rocking a trend that makes a statement, I’m still enjoying the final month of hot weather and not putting any of my summer makeup or skincare away.

What are your favourite summer trends and products that you’re still wearing?  Leave me a comment below!

Glam grunge: a ’90’s-inspired look

title As much as I hate to admit it, summer is almost over.

Although I love the warmer months, my favourite season has always been fall.  There’s something to say about the chilly air, the crunchy leaves, and lots of layers.  Also, two words: pumpkin spice.  So although I’ll be sad to see summer go, I am looking forward to things cooling off around here.

Although I love rocking a nude or pink lip, I have been obsessed with this mauve/Kylie Jenner-inspired lip shade, which is a Lime Crime Velveteen in the colour Faded.  Although the brand has been under a lot of scrutiny these past few years, I was happy to get my hands on some products and try them out for myself, since I often see them all over YouTube.  Regardless of the controversy, the products are amazing. I received this one, as well as Cashmere, and I love the consistency on them. They go on liquid and then dry to a matte which doesn’t budge and lasts all day.  Although this shade has never been me, I’ve actually recreated this look a few times since I love it so much. There’s something to say about a neutral eye, fresh skin, and a ’90s lip.

Final 1 Steps 1. Starting with the face, I decided to change up my foundation routine and apply Dr.Hauschka Foundation in 01, which is quite sheer.  Before applying powder to give me more coverage, I went in with Maybelline Better Skin Concealer then went over top with Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Powerless powder foundation in Classic Ivory.  After, I filled in my brows using the Brow Bar To Go palette by Gerard Cosmetics.

2. For the eyes, I placed a cream eyeshadow down to act as a primer.  I used Lise Watier 24 Hrs Glam in Sexy Glam.

3. For the eyeshadow, I used the Urban Decay Naked Palette to keep things neutral.  Starting on the lids, place down Sin.

4. For the crease, I used a fluffy crease brush to keep things light and worked Buck into my crease.

5. Combining Buck and Darkhorse, using a pencil brush, apply this lightly under along the lower lash line. For both the brow bone and inner corner highlight, I used Virgin.

6. Curl your lashes and apply generous coats of mascara. I used Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara.

7. To finish up the face, I contoured with the Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer, kept the cheeks neutral with NARS blush in Madly, and gave myself a nice highlight with the highlight from the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo in 01.

8. For the lips, I applied Lime Crime Velveteen in Faded for a grungy-pink look.

Final 2

Although this lip colour is totally not “me”, I definitely see myself rocking this look lots in the future, especially on nights out (to wear a shade other than pink or nude on a Friday or Saturday night is just unheard of…).  It’s hard to find a mauve that is flattering enough that I can see myself wearing more than once, and this product is definitely it.  Plus, these guys totally smell like cupcakes, and what’s not to love about that?
