Hope. Love. Cheer. Holiday gift sets from Arbonne

Title arbonne

Okay, so I know Halloween just ended and it’s kinda taboo to be all about the holidays before Remembrance Day, but brands have gotten on their Christmas collections super early this year.

Arbonne sent me some items from their holiday collection months ago and since summer is just too early to post anything Christmas related, I’ve been holding onto these goodies for some time.

The direct-sales brand, which has quite the cult following, has released a 13-piece holiday collection in celebration of their 35th anniversary. The collection is filled with body lotions, gels, lip balms, glosses, an eyeshadow kit, and even edible items. I didn’t receive every item, but did get to try out a number of different things from the brand.

shadows

One of the showstoppers from the collection is definitely the Sugar Plum Baked Eye Shadow Palette (C$66), which contains four metallic, mineral-infused eye shadows. You can apply them dry for a soft look or wet for something more intense. Included is four shades: Icing, Gingersnap, Plumberry, and Ganache. In case you aren’t familiar with Arbonne, their products  are based on botanical ingredients. These shadows have key ingredients of Japanese green tea extract, ginseng root extract, and chamomile flower extract.

Since the holiday season means holiday parties (and lots of kissing – hello mistletoe!), keep those lips nice and soft with the Tahitian Coconut Lip Therapy Set (C$58). This two-piece set includes a coconut lip smoother infused with grapeseed oil, which helps to exfoliate dry lips and softens with shea butter. The second part of the set, the lip salve, is formulated with coconut oil and conditions and enhances hydration.

Gels

The ultimate generic gift, you can’t go wrong with some bath and body items. The Good Cheer Shower Gel Set (C$50) includes three classic scents, Ginger Citrus, Mandarin Pomegranate, and Fig Blossom (118 ml each). If you would rather have an assortment of items, all housed in one box, then the Pineapple Papaya Gift Set (C$54) is a great option. This three-piece collection includes a shower gel (with mango fruit extract to moisturize and condition skin), body lotion (with avocado oil to soften and smooth), and a moisturizing lip balm, all in the tropical pineapple papaya scent.

Fit chews

Looking for something for that always-on-the-go friend?  Well, Arbonne doesn’t just sell cosmetic products.  As part of their Arbonne Essentials line, these Fit Chews (C$36 for 30 chews) are peppermint cocoa flavoured and act as a pick me up for those who never get to sit down. Key ingredients are rhodiola, an adaptogen that helps temporarily relieve symptoms of mental fatigue related to stress, codonopsis, and astragalus.

Arbonne isn’t available in stores, so contact your local Arbonne sales rep to order holiday products.  You can also order these items online via their website.

For a good cause… EOS Breast Cancer lip spheres

EOS TITLE So with October almost being over, I just had to get this last post in.  Okay, it’s not a Halloween post, but it’s something better.

For the past few years, eos has come out with special-edition packs special for breast cancer awareness month (i.e. October). For this year, the company has released a two-pack containing Strawberry Sorbet and the limited-edition Wildberry lip balms. A portion of the proceeds will benefit various breast cancer research organizations including American Cancer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Past collections has included the lip spheres and hand balms, however, for 2015 the company has come out with a duo pack of two pink lip spheres in the flavours of Strawberry Sorbet and Wildberry. I’ve talked about these balms numerous times on my blog and they are still one of my favourite lip balms to keep on hand as they so are small and compact (and not to mention cool), that you can throw them in any bag. Seriously. I have one on my nightstand, one in my gym bag, one on my desk, one in my travel makeup bag. Needless to say, I have a lot of these.

pink Also new from eos is the Blackberry Nectar flavour in the Visibly Soft line. The brand’s Visibly Soft collection contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring compound, to increase hydration and promote smooth, healthy-looking lips. It truly is the perfect companion as the weather cools (especially here in Winnipeg).

Blueberry eos is always quick to come out with new flavours, and although these are new for fall and limited edition for October (the breast cancer pack), if you missed out on your opportunity to get your lips on these, just wait until the holiday season. I can’t wait to see what they are going to come out with for 2015 (last year was a collection inspired by fashion designer Rachel Roy).

What’s your favourite eos lip sphere flavour?

Holy water: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water

Smashbox title I feel like I’ve tried out so many foundations these past few months, and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love my foundation as full coverage. But for those days where I don’t want the whole she-bang, I’ll reach for my handy BB cream.

BB, CC, there’s a lot of options to choose from when you want just a nice light coverage, but with some benefits to it.  BB cream has been out for awhile, and although the hype around it has died off considerably, it still has a time and place. Just when you thought they couldn’t come out anything new in that category (apparently there’s also DD cream…), Smashbox has released something called BB Water.

Okay, what?

This magic elixir acts like a drink for your skin. Think BB cream, but in a more water-like texture. Ready to get wet?  The built-in primer water technology means a liquid silk-consistency, so it glides on your face and blends easily and moves with skin. It’s also alcohol-free, meaning no drying, cracking or caking during wear. Because it’s a water-like texture, the oil-free formula also creates a sheer, radiant finish. This BB hydrates your skin throughout the day, and best of all, is demi-matte, so you won’t look shiny. The coverage is also long lasting.

Like most BB creams, this guy doesn’t just give you a nice coverage. It blurs out imperfections, it has SPF 30, provides sheer to medium coverage, and quenches skin. It’s  available in eight different shades.

wand

I’ve tried out a variety of different BB creams and I definitely have some favourites (DiorSkin being number one). This retails for C$50, but oh my gosh, it’s amazing. As I said in the beginning, I love full coverage foundations, and although this is billed as sheer to medium, it makes my skin look so nice, plus it lasts pretty much all day, I don’t have to worry about it getting patchy or fading. It definitely provides a better coverage than most BB creams I have tried (especially ones from drugstore lines) and it just feels better on my skin; like I’m wearing nothing at all. I wouldn’t wear this for a night out, but I’ve been wearing it pretty much everyday for daytime use.

Quad

You apply the water with the use of the built-in dropper.  I usually use two to three pumps of the product to cover my face.  After I apply it, I’ll usually go over it with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, which works together so perfectly together.

Overall, I cannot recommend this product enough. Yes, it’s expensive, but if you are looking for a great quality BB cream (er, water), this is it.

Have you tried Smashbox’s BB Water?
