Flawless: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Face Palette

Sculpting palette title

Make Up For Ever is hands-down one of my favourite brands. Whenever I hear that they are releasing something new, I can’t wait to get my hands on it, because A) I need to try it, and B) I just know it’s going to be fabulous.

Which takes me to today’s post. When I saw that they were releasing their Pro Sculpting Face Palette (C$54), I just had to get my little hands on it. I only saw amazing reviews for the product, so I already knew before receiving it that it was going to be amazing.

Available in four shades: light, medium, tan, and dark, this four-in-one cream palette is everything you need to sculpt, contour, highlight and blush. Each palette contains a highlight, contour, shimmer and colour to naturally highten anyone’s complexion. The cream colours are very blendable and gives you a natural finish, so once they’re on, you look flawless.

Contour palette

I received the light version of the palette, which contains an apricot-coloured blush. Although I have applied these colours with a brush, I prefer a beauty blender to get a more natural finish.

Make Up For Ever says that this palette gives you a second-skin finish, and I couldn’t agree more. Some of my all-time favourite concealers and highlighters are by the French brand, so I already knew that the one in here would be awesome. Same goes with the blush, which is similar to me as their HD blushes, which are also bomb.  The bronzer is very light, but very workable, so I like applying it and then lightly going over it with a bronzer to give me a more cut contour.

Before and after

As you can see, this product gives you a natural finish; it’s nothing too harsh. The Pro Sculpting Face Palette is also part of a number of new releases in Make Up For Ever’s Pro line. They have new products for brows and lips, and although I haven’t tried those, I definitely think this palette is a must if you are just starting with contour kits and are a little scared to just dive in head first.

Have you tried the Pro Sculpting Face Palette yet?

Roses: A bouquet of fragrances for mom this Mother’s Day

ROSES TITLE Okay, so when I think of Mother’s Day, there are a few gifts that come to mind. Fragrances, flowers and really anything pink.  Yes, flowers are always nice to give, but for me I tend to find they die so fast and then they’re gone. Why not just combine the three and give mom a scent that smells like the iconic flower?

Rose-scented stuff is everywhere nowadays. Not only is it infused in your body lotion, but I’ve even been to a steam room that smelled like it (it was heaven).  Since this flower is so hot, here are my top three picks for fragrances to give your mom this Mother’s Day (better hurry up, you’re almost out of time!). Juicy Viva La Juicy Rose

The original Viva La Juicy is one of my all-time favourite scents, so when I saw the bottle on this one, which looks similar to the original but has glitter pink ombre on it, I was like oh my god, I need this is my life. My mom was actually in the car when I got this and she practically died over it too. This eau de parfum has notes of jasmine and rose with a hint of amber.  It’s sweet, it’s fresh, and it’s floral. What else could you ask for? Even if you hate the scent (seriously though, who could?!), the bottle is to die for. Aside from the obvious glitter (and pink!), there is a bow which plays homage to the original, and instead of the J Couture charm, there’s a mini bottle of champagne with pink crystals in it. Body shop The Body Shop British Rose Eau de Toilette

The Body Shop seems to be Mother’s Day mecca as every year they always feature some amazing scents and sets for mom. This year’s theme is British Rose, which contains the essence of hand-picked roses from Britain and Community Trade organic alcohol (in true Body Shop form). This eau de toilette contains top notes of bergamot and tangerine; heart notes of waterlily, rose water and peony; and base notes of peach and cruelty-free musks.

If you want to get mom an amazing gift, they offer a few different sets featuring this fragrance. I love the British Rose Deluxe Collection (C$65), which features a 60 ml of the shower gel, Vitamin E Moisture Cream (50 ml), body butter (200 ml), body essence (250 ml), and the eau de toilette (100 ml). It comes housed in a circular hat-like box that’s pink and features the British flag and rose.  So cute! Perfume Valentino Valentina Pink I’ve featured this fragrance on my blog a lot, but with good reason since it’s amazing! Okay, it doesn’t smell as rosey as the other two, but it does have a peony on the front of its matte bright pink bottle (again, I’m such a sucker for bottles). This features notes of peony, strawberries, and blackberries, as well as roses and Cashmeran wood and praline.

This guy is limited edition, but you can still find it at Hudson’s Bay.

You can never go wrong with perfume for just any gift, and when you go with one that smells like roses, you’re practically doing a double whammy. Just make a brunch or dinner reso and you’re set!

What are you getting your mom this year for Mother’s Day?

Feeling tribal: MAC Vibe Tribe collection for spring 2016

MAC vibe tribe title Too bad Coachella is already over because one of MAC’s May collections would have been perfect to rock for the festival.

Launching in stores and online in North America on May 19, 2016, Vibe Tribe is probably the coolest MAC collection I’ve seen in a while.  What’s make it so stellar? The packaging of course! Complete with tons of reds, corals, and gold, this collection is the ultimate makeup collection to prep you for summer. Think free-spirited teals and mandarins mixed with charcoals to up the edge factor.  This massive collection of 27 items includes lipsticks, bronzing powders, makeup bags and brushes, eyeshadows, and more!

VIBE TRIBE_AMBIENT_RGB_300

I got three items from the collection, one of their bronzing powers, a lipstick, and a Patent Polish Lip Pencil.

There are five lipsticks (C$22.50) in the Vibe Tribe collection: Tanarama (pale beige with golden shimmer, frost), Arrowhead (bare nude, matte), Painted Sunset (bright orange-red, amplified), Pure Vanity (pale peach nude, lustre), and Hot Chocolate (dirty plum, satin). I received the colour Hot Chocolate, which is probably the least summery one of them all, but still really wearable.  This is like a Kylie Jenner kind of shade, which makes it equally as office appropriate as it does for a night out.  Although I did find it to be “just meh” in the tube, once applied, I learned to appreciate it a lot more. I think this would also look amazing if you have a dark skin tone. Regardless of the colour though, I am dying over the packaging. I’m usually not a sucker for MAC packaging, but since tribal is so in right now, this lipstick looks so cute sitting on my desk at work or in my clutch. You must pick up a shade just for the case alone.

Another lip product I got, which is new for me, is their Patentpolish Lip Pencil (C$25.50). I’ve never seen these before, but they offer the lightweight feel of a gloss with the coverage of a lipstick. At first glance I thought this was just a tinted lip balm, but they do go on quite opaque, with tons of shine. Also, unlike their Lipglass, they aren’t sticky at all, which makes them quite comfortable to wear.

This collection features five shades: Tumbleweed (soft nude), Teen Dream (bright pinkish coral matte), Caravamp (reddish-orange), Desert Evening (clear with pearl – online exclusive), and Rio Grande Romance (bright fuchsia). I received the colour Caravamp, which if you are a beauty blogger like me and receive a million red lipsticks, I wasn’t super excited about at first glance. This does tend to lean towards more of a tomato red, but it looks amazing with a tan.

Hot Chocolate Caravamp

The last item I got was one of their bronzing powders. These come housed in the same theme packaging, so the compact looks amazing just lying on a countertop. Since this is a spring/summer collection, MAC has three bronzers (C$32.50) to choose from, Matte Bronze (bare-shouldered bronze), Refined Golden (finely spun golden with soft pearl) and Firebrush (reddish bronze with golden sparkle).  They also offer their Studio Sculpt Defining Bronzing Powder (C$38.50) in two shades: Dephic (coppery bronze with gold sparkles) and Golden Rinse (light brick reddish bronze with fine shimmer).

I received the colour Refined Golden, which is pretty jaw dropping when opened. This isn’t a matte bronzer, but instead has flecks of gold shimmer in it. It’s also part of their permanent collection, so if you miss this you can pick it up anytime (although it won’t have the gorgeous packaging).  I’ve used this a few times and it really gives you the most beautiful glow. I’ve used it for adding colour, as well as contouring, and I feel like it’s soon to be my new favourite.

Bronzer

Since this collection is so beautiful (and really the perfect summer collection), I do foresee a lot of items selling out fast. Make sure you stop by your local counter right when they open on May 19 to get the items you want!

What are you going to be picking up from the MAC Vibe Tribe collection?

Please note, I was sent these products from PR. All opinions are my own.
