Flirty things: Valentine’s Day lashes and nails by Kiss

kiss title

Guys, it’s less than a week away until Valentine’s Day.

It doesn’t matter if you have a significant other or not, this day is all about celebrating the love, so whether you’re spending it with your beau or your best gal pal (or furry friend), there’s always a reason to get excited.

I’ll have a last-minute gift guide going up on Monday, but some items you definitely need are some flirty lashes and V-Day-appropriate nails.

If you don’t feel like painting them red or pink, ImPRESS Manicure has some fabulous Valentine’s Day designs, that will having anyone wanting to hold your hand. I’ve blogged about these before and they are still my all-time fave press-on nail brand since they offer so many cute designs and are so easy to apply. These guys don’t have a separate glue to apply them, instead you just remove the clear backing and press them on. The adhesive really does stay on your nails for up to a week.

As you can see, they have some amazing styles available for Valentine’s Day that will honestly transcend into the rest of the year (I would totally sport nails with “Love” printed on them after V-Day). My faves are definitely the ones with the glitter accent nails.

Whenever I pop these on I always get so many compliments since they make your nails look nice and long, and feature amazing designs that are so eye catching.

Nails

Finally, something that needs to be in everyone’s makeup collection are false lashes.  I don’t really wear them that often unless I’m going on a nice date with my boyfriend (or doing a look for my blog), but I’ve always been a fan of the Kiss Lashes.

Since you’re bound to be extra flirty on February 14, look into picking up a pair of either their Ever EZ lashes or the Blooming Lash.  I have so many pairs of these and I really do swear by them (ask any of my friends). Not only are they super affordable (you can find them at most drugstores or places like Walmart), but they are also amazing quality and look very realistic.  They use 100 per cent human hair on their lashes and they are very flexible and lightweight to wear. I have other pairs of mink lashes that are pricier, but honestly, I prefer these.

Like I said, the Ever EZ ones are my favourite since they are very pretty once applied and blend in nice with your natural eyelashes. I do use their glue as well since I find it works way better than others out there, like Duo. I have the black aloe one, but I love the Ever EZ Strip Lash Adhesive since you apply it with a wand, which means no mess and a more tailored application.

Lashes

I have a makeup look coming up Friday where I use a pair of the Ever EZ ones pictured above.  Kiss offers these lashes in multipacks, which is so convenient to have on hand. They also have a new faux mink collection out as well that I’m dying to try. In the meantime though, I’m loving my staple lashes, ones that I’ll definitely be sporting on Valentine’s Day next Tuesday.

What’s your favourite lash and press-on nail brand?

My furry Valentine: A Canadian-inspired Valentine’s Day look

Title

Okay, so I could have totally done a romantic Valentine’s Day look for today’s post, but let’s be real, I live in Winnipeg.

Since it’s so cold here, your jacket will naturally be part of the outfit. I’m a huge fan of LBDs (really, anything black in general), so I’m 99.9 per cent sure that I’m going to be rocking some sort of black outfit. Since the BF and I are going out, I’ll pair it with this super chic Hudson’s Bay x Smythe coat that I’m totally obsessed with.

Leaning down

I’ve kinda been obsessed with Hudson’s Bay stripes this season, so naturally I had to dress up Ziggy in the same garb.  Since my coat is so busy, I would definitely just pair this with plain clothes underneath (FYI, this is not sponsored by Hudson’s Bay. HBC, if you are reading this, let’s get in touch, maybe? 😉 )

I wore my favourite little black dress from Topshop (bought years ago in London), with black tights and these black booties from Free People. It was freezing last Saturday when we took these pictures, so I don’t recommend braving the elements without gloves.  I usually pair with coat with these long finger gloves I got recently at Indigo in the colour white.

It’s a little over one week away until the big day (or, if you’re a single lady, it’s a week away from Galentine’s Day), I would love to know what you’re planning on wearing.  Will you be rocking the LBD? Something shiny? Something with hearts on it? Or just tights and a comfy top for a romantic dinner on the couch with Netflix?  Let me know in the comments below!

Time of your life: Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage comes to Winnipeg, March 31 to April 2

title dd When you think of iconic ‘80s movies, there’s probably a handful of them that you automatically list off. And, I can bet one of them will definitely be Dirty Dancing.

The famous love story between privileged 17-year-old Francis “Baby” Houseman and resort dance instructor Johnny Castle is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. The movie came out in 1987 and propelled Patrick Swayze to stardom and the movie and soundtrack remain one of the best films and albums of all time.

Since it’s a dance movie, it made perfect sense to adapt it for the stage. Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage was first performed in Sydney, Australia in November 2004. It then went on to premier in Germany in 2006, where it broke records for achieving the highest advance in European history. The show went on to break records across the UK as well, and lucky for us Winnipeggers, it’s coming to town at the end of March.

Presented by Broadway Across Canada, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage will play at the Centennial Concert Hall from March 31 to April 2, 2017. It features a slew of unforgettable – and recognizable – songs, such as “Hungry Eyes” and “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” that will have you wanting to get up out of your seat and sing and dance along.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and start at $55.

I want you to have the time of your life, so I’m giving away a pair of tickets to see the show on opening night, March 31 at 8 p.m. To win, leave me a comment below with the name of the actress who plays Baby in the 1987 movie. You can get additional entries by following and commenting on my social posts as well. Contest ends March 1, 2017.

Good luck!
