Plump & circumstance: Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss

I’m not a huge fan of lipgloss.

Maybe it’s because I love colour that actually looks like colour, or maybe it’s the tell-tale feeling of stickiness, I just have never been a gloss girl… Until now.

Okay, so I’m not fully a glossy person, but I’ve been really digging Dior Beauty’s new Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss. Available in eight shades, with six of them being new to the line up, this gloss contains collagen micro-spheres to penetrate lips to plump and shape them, while also providing 24-hour hydration. Dior says that these increase your lip volume by 29 per cent and they are a hyaluronic lip treatment to stimulate collagen production and reshape the lips, at the same time, softening fine lines and wrinkles within 15 days.

I received seven of the eight shades and although some of them look very bold (coral and purple), they are all quite faint when you apply them, giving you a slight wash of colour.  When you paint them on, they have a mint flavour, which feels pleasant and like your lips are getting fuller.

There are two finishes to choose from, glossy and holographic. I actually like the holographic more since I feel like it’s a really pretty finish and it makes your lips look larger than just the gloss. You can wear them by themselves or over a lipstick; in fact, they are designed to be layered over the corresponding Lip Glow To The Max Balm, which I’ll be reviewing shortly.

These retail for C$42 and if you are a gloss girl, I highly recommend picking one up. My favourite shade is the Holographic Purple since it’s such a light colour and really makes your lips look stunning and full. As for actually making your lips look fuller, I find that glosses in general help to achieve this, so I’m not sure if it’s actually working, but I like how they have the claim (even if it’s only 29 per cent), and the mint definitely helps to trick your brain into believing that your lips feel bigger.

The price is high for a lipgloss, but I recommend picking one up since it is such a pretty finish, your lips feel moisturized, and best of all, it isn’t that sticky, which is a lot coming from me. Plus, you know, it’s Dior, and anything Dior just makes my heart skip a beat, so there’s that :p.

Have you picked up any of the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Glosses? What were your thoughts?

Sweet nothings: Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in Pillow Talk

If there is one thing I love shade-wise, it’s nudes. From nude blushes to lipsticks to eyeshadows, I am all about a natural, glowy look. So it comes as no surprise that when I first laid my eyes on Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk collection, it was love at first sight.

To accompany the incredibly popular Matte Revolution Pillow Talk lipstick, the luxury cosmetics brand unveiled a Cheek to Chic blush and an eyeshadow palette in the popular shade. I managed to get my hands on the Luxury Palette and it’s everything I ever wanted it to be.

The Luxury Palette in Pillow Talk ($66) contains four complementary shimmer and matte eyeshadows that are designed to give you a romantic look. There’s a champagne pink, a matte dusky rose, a soft matte brown, and a rose gold sparkle.

This palette is so wearable and is truly the perfect everyday palette that can totally transition into night. Since the shades are all neutral it is universally flattering, meaning that anyone can wear it. The shades go on creamy and blend out nicely. My favourite combo to wear it is with the champagne pink on my lids with the soft matte brown in the crease. From there, I’ll layer the rose gold sparkle over the champagne and either use the same matte brown in the crease or the dusky rose.

I think the palette is truly a staple since the shade range in here is so wearable. If you are looking for a pretty impactful glitter, this doesn’t really give you that, it’s more of a subtle effect (even when I sprayed my brush). I don’t necessary mind thiat since the palette isn’t designed to give you a noticeable sparkle, it’s more of a subtle, I woke up like this, but didn’t, kind of look.  You can also check out my IGTV to see how I created this look with the palette.

If you are looking to pick up one of Charlotte Tilbury’s Luxury Palettes, then I highly recommend this one since everything in here is so wearable and truly flattering. Just pop on a liquid liner, some mascara, and falsies, and you are all set for your eye look.

Natural nuances: NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

I’ve been trying out a lot of foundations lately.

Foundation is one of my favourite beauty items, so I never get sick of trying out new ones since they make your skin look so perfect and they are all different in their each unique way. Although I have probably 20 different foundations in my collection currently, one that I always have to have in there is NARS Sheer Glow. In fact, NARS Sheer Glow was probably the last foundation I purchased (which says a lot since I get so many foundations in to try out).

In case you aren’t familiar with NARS Sheer Glow, it’s a sheer, buildable foundation with a natural-looking finish that evens out skin tone. It contains NARS’ Complexion Brightening Formula and leaves skin hydrated, softer, and smoother. There are over 40 shades to choose from and I love it so much because it truly is radiant on the skin and gives you a perfect glow (all while giving you amazing coverage as well).

Since I love Sheer Glow so much, I haven’t tried out the brand’s other foundations, until now.  After expressing my undying love for Sheer Glow, the brand was so kind to send over their Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation (along with a couple spare Sheer Glows as well, since girl, I *cannot* go without the stuff).

Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation (C$60) is a 16-hour foundation that is designed to be long wearing, lightweight, high coverage, and natural looking. The foundation is infused with raspberry, apple, and watermelon extracts to help soothe and improve the look of your skin instantly and over time. The brand says that the foundation is designed to look better with each hour you wear it.

NARS sent me the same shade I wear in Sheer Glow, Vallauris, and I do have to admit that I am very impressed with this foundation. It is very light, which is impressive considering how much of a coverage it gives your skin. It’s breathable, it’s long wearing, and it’s lightweight, which is pretty much everything I look for in a foundation.

Would I say my skin looks better every hour I wear it? No, but it does hold up nicely and I don’t feel the need for touchups throughout the day, which is awesome. Looks like there are only 34 shades of this foundation, however, this one does come with a pump, which is sold separately for Sheer Glow (I don’t know why to be honest; that would be my only qualm, sometimes it’s tough getting it out of the jar).

So do I love Natural Radiant Longwear more than Sheer Glow? Oooh tough to say. They are two different finishes, so it is tough to compare them. I’m glad I have both in my collection and it will be tough to choose between the two if I want to go the NARS foundation route. The two foundations have different finishes and coverage, so I think there is a place in your collection for both, however, since price is always a factor, if you want to pick one up, I would look into what you like in a foundation; medium vs. full coverage, radiant vs. glowing, etc.

If you have both, I would love to know your thoughts and which one is your favourite.

Have you tried NARS’ foundations? What are your thoughts?
