Primer + shine: Avon VDL primers

Avon VDL primers

Avon has been killing it lately with the collabs.

I had never heard of VDL before getting an Avon PR box this past week, but it looks like the popular direct sales brand has collabed with the Korean line to release a series of primers. From what I understand, VDL is affiliated with the Nature Collection, which also owns The Face Shop, of which Avon has released a number of makeup items with this past year.  In this collection, the two brands teamed up to release four primers.

Avon sent me three of the four to try out (the fourth one is actually a metal cushion primer).  These primers are designed to gives you a glass skin effect for a luminous look. These primers contain their Lumilayer complex, which captures and reflects light to give the illusion of perfect-looking skin.

The first primer, VDL Lumilayer Primer (C$40) contains violet lumilayer pigment to brighten, plump, and sculpt the skin for added dimension and volume. This primer blurs pores and enhances the wear of your face products, such as foundation and concealer, and gives you a long-lasting silky texture. You can wear this one as a primer or even as a highlighter as well since it gives you a nice glow.

If you are looking for a primer to hydrate the skin, then take a look at the Lumilayer Primer Fresh (C$40). This one contains over 70 per cent moisturizing essence for continuous all-day hydration and smooth skin.  It contains pearls that absorb and reflect light to create a radiant glow from within.  This is such a nice treat to skin since it will keep your face hydrated underneath your makeup.

The last one, the Lumilayer Satin Veil Primer (C$40) is designed to blur out pores and fine lines.  This contains soft-veiling polymers in the formula to help give the illusion of flawless skin, as well as mattify the skin since it helps to tone down shine. This primer also contains prune water, which replenishes skin with hydration, as well as rose enfleurage oil to improve the skin’s elasticity and texture over time.

I tried one of these primers this past weekend, the Lumilayer Primer Fresh one with the brand’s new foundation and concealer (review coming soon) and did notice how nice my skin looked. The foundation and concealer set really nicely and I did notice how radiant my skin looked.

All of these primers are currently on sale right now for C$34, so if they interest you, I would hop on ordering one.  I actually was very impressed with these and I like the fact that these work hard to give you radiant skin (I would expect nothing less from Korean beauty).

Have you tried anything from VDL before?
