I’ve always had a thing for YSL Beauty lipsticks.
There is something so glamorous about the line in general and I can still remember my excitement when I picked up my very first YSL lipstick so many years ago. As a result, whenever they release a new one I always get really excited to check it out.
Brand-new to the brand is their Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks (C$50 each), which are the sheer matte version of their Rouge Pur Couture The Slim lipsticks. You may be familiar with these guys due to the unique shape of the bullet, which is in a diamond (a few brands have since come out with their own version of lipsticks featuring this shape). The new sheer matte formula has that same shape but delivers lightweight matte colour that is sheer on the lips.
Available in 12 shades, this lipstick is like a sheer matte balm that delivers a pretty wash of colour. The brand sent me four to try out and at first glance the colours were very bold. Once I applied them, however, they all went on very sheer but still left me with soft colour that is still noticeable.
The real showstopper about this product is the shape of the lipstick itself, which as I mentioned earlier is in a diamond. The reason YSL did this was to create a precise line to flawlessly apply the colour. I did find it took some getting used to since you kind of have to retrain yourself on how to apply this. Overall though the colour was really pretty on and it lasted for a while on the lips. The formula is also infused with their blurring technology so it softens the look of lips.
As you can see in the swatches, the colours definitely look a lot softer IRL than they do in the bullet, which I really loved. As I mention a lot, I get a lot of red and pinks, so when they apply like this, I can definitely get behind the product a lot more.
At $50 a pop, these are very expensive, but I feel like anything YSL Beauty is a real treat and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with these. The colour is so soft that you can wear this everyday and not get sick of it, which is a major plus for any lipstick.
