Smooth kisses: Four lip products you need for smooth lips

My desert island beauty product? It would definitely have to be a lip balm.

I know, I know, so boring, right? But here’s the thing, everyone uses lip balm. Even if you aren’t a makeup person, there is still a spot for lip balm in your life.

So, with so many options for lip balms out there, it can get a little overwhelming when it comes to choosing the right one for you. Although I own a million different balms (they are literally spread out everywhere – in my condo, work, car, various purses, etc… you get the idea), it never hurts to have a few more, am I right? 😉

Anyways, since I can’t seem to own enough of these little lip savers, I’m always so pumped when new ones come in as well. Which brings us to today’s post and my top picks if you are looking for some new lippies to add to your collection.

lip balm products from Laneige, Avon, and Fenty Beauty

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm

I am a huge fan of Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (seriously, if you don’t own this yet, go out and buy it! I put this on every night and the pot will last you a lifetime), so I was naturally very excited when the Korean skincare and makeup brand came out with the daytime version, Lip Glowy Balm (C$18), a couple months ago.

The Lip Glowy Balm is available in four fruity flavours (Berry, Peach, Pear, and Grapefruit) with a sheer tint of colour to it (very sheer). This product is a comfortable lightweight balm that hydrates lips, as well as adds a subtle tint to them. The formula contains murumuru and shea butters to pack on hydration and keep your lips moisturized for longer.

The Lip Glowy Balm is definitely a thinner texture compared to the Lip Sleeping Mask (and honestly, you could use this one instead of the sleeping one for night as well), but it has a nice wear to it and feels light on the lips and not sticky (very important if you have long hair!).

I have this in the colour Peach and although there is a slight tint to it, it’s really not that noticeable. If you would rather one that is translucent, then I would look into the Pear flavour, which is green in packaging, but completely clear on.

Laneige Lip Oil and Avon Lip Balm

Avon Anew Vitamin C Antioxidant Lip Treatment

If you’re looking for a little pep, then take a look at Avon’s new Vitamin C lip balm.

This new lip balm is part of their Anew Vitamin C line, which also includes a heated scrub, some face masks, and a few other products. The balm is orange scented and conditions lips to keep them looking healthy and youthful. It comes in a traditional lipstick tube and although the product is orange in colour, it applies translucent on the lips.

The balm is formulated with vitamins C and E and also plumps and smooths the lips. It retails for C$20, but is currently on sale or C$9.99.

Fenty Pro Kiss'r Lip Scrub

Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm and Lip-Loving Scrubstick

When I got a box from Fenty Beauty in the mail a couple weeks ago I was surprised that it opened up to some lip care goodies from the brand.

Everything else in the line is very makeup focused, so I was pleased to see that she’s venturing into more products that prep the skin for the rest of her line.

First up is the Lip-Loving Scrubstick (C$21), which is a retractable lip scrub that gently exfoliates lips, removing dead skin cells and prepping them for lipstick.

The formula contains apricot seed scrubbers to really buff out any dead skin and the lightweight, non-greasy formula is perfect for getting your lips ready for lipstick, lip gloss, or balm.

Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss'r Balm and Scrubstick

Speaking of which, pair the scrub with the Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm (C$23), which is a creamy, lightweight, clear balm that glides over the lips instantly infusing them with hydration.

At first glance, you would think the cap opens up to a angled tip to apply the product, but surprisingly it’s a doe-foot applicator, which I definitely prefer more. This formula is also non-greasy or sticky and contains shea and mango seed butters to soothe and moisturize the lips, leaving them softer, smoother, and ready for morning, bed, before makeup, you name it.

Although it appears clear to me, Fenty does say it has an invisipink sheen to it with a light peach-vanilla scent that is pleasing to apply. As far as I’m concerned, Fenty can do no wrong, and although it’s a lot for a lip routine, these are definitely a treat to have in your collection (especially if you aren’t really a makeup wearer but want to pick up something Fenty related).

All four of these products would be a perfect addition to your collection. The great thing about lip balms is that everyone can use them, regardless if you are into makeup or not.  Whether you’re picking up the Laneige one, the Avon one or the Fenty one, all three will please your lips and keep them nice and hydrated as we head into the summer months.

What’s your favourite lip balm?
