The neutralizer: Bare Minerals Blemish Rescue Collection

I’ve been pretty fortunate in that I don’t often get breakouts.

I’m the first to say I have pretty good skin, however, every once in a while I will experience a breakout or have to tame down redness in my complexion (I have to do the latter one quite often). If you suffer from breakouts often and have trouble camouflaging them with your makeup, then you’ll definitely want to look into Bare Minerals’ new line which helps to target blemishes and acne.

The new Blemish Rescue collection, which launched at Sephora on January 1, 2019, consists of four products to help resolve current breakouts and prevent future ones from happening. The line also helps to maintain skin’s essential moisture and contains salicylic acid, a blemish-busting mineral complex, and a blend of soothing ingredients to help calm and nourish acne-prone skin. This line has clinically shown to improve skin’s hydration instantly and after 12 hours, as well as mattify skin instantly and over time.

Included in the collection is the Anti-Redness Mattifying Primer (C$33), Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation (C$37), the Seamless Buffing Brush with Antibacterial Charcoal (C$35), and the Skin-Clearing Spot Concealer (C$27).

Bare Minerals Blemish Rescue Primer and concealer

The Blemish Rescue Anti-Redness Mattifying Primer is a green-toned primer to neutralize red undertones in skin. It’s a soothing primer that helps to maintain skin’s essential moisture over time. The primer is infused with chamomile and arnica to calm and nourish skin, as well as a blend of zinc, sulfur, and kaolin clay to mattify skin and purify pores. Apply this to your complexion prior to the other products.

Next up, I use the Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Spot Concealer, which is a retractable pencil concealer available in six shades. This concealer helps to calm, clear, and cover blemishes and imperfections thanks to the salicylic acid in the formula. It also has mushroom stem extract to soothe skin, as well as liquorice root extract to help fade post-blemish scars. Since this is a pencil concealer, it’s not my favourite method of applying this product since I find it doesn’t really blend out as creamy as I would like. Bare Minerals says that this is crease-proof, waterproof, and sweat-resistant. I use this after the primer and before the powder foundation (remember: creams always before powders) and use the brush to help buff it into my skin. I do find that it helps to tone down any redness on my face.

The Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation is like their iconic foundation but helps to resolve current breakouts and prevent future ones from happening. This foundation is available in 12 different shades and works the same way that the original formula works. Twist the jar and then tap some product into the lid. Using the buffing brush, work this into your skin for a healthy-looking, natural finish. If you love their original foundation but suffer from skin issues, then Bare Minerals has literally answered all your prayers with this line. This works the same way as their tried-and-true original foundation but is formulated to target future and current breakouts.

I’ve been applying this foundation with the Seamless Bruffing Brush with Antibacterial Charcoal, which is a brush made with special fibres infused with activated charcoal and antibacterial silver ions to help repel bacteria. Because of that, it is also designed to stay cleaner for longer. The shape of the brush is the perfect size and density to really help buff the products into skin, leaving you with a flawless, natural finish. Although this brush was created to apply the Blemish Rescue Loose Powder Foundation, you can of course use it to apply other foundations as well.

In case you can’t tell, I absolutely love this line and am in awe that Bare Minerals created this. They took an iconic product and added a touch extra to it for those gals and guys that suffer from breakouts and acne. I think that this line would be perfect for teenagers or young adults just because their skin may be more prone to those conditions, and the finish everything gives you is just perfect. Heck, I’ve even been using it nonstop and I don’t get breakouts that often. It’s just that good.
