Faced for fall: Five skincare products you need this season

Okay, so I know I just chatted about skincare last week on here, showcasing my love for Tula, but let’s face it, I get a lot of skincare, so therefore I get to try out so much stuff. Because of that, I try to rotate in new products a couple times a week, or add more steps to my routine.

It’s not unusual for me to use multiple serums every night, or even swap out my moisturizer for an overnight mask instead one or two days a week. There are so many amazing skincare products, and if there is one beauty product out there I take seriously, it’s definitely skincare.

With the weather getting chillier (especially here in Winnipeg where it snowed last Friday), my skin tends to get drier, so the need for some extra TLC every morning and night is greater.  Here are some of my new skincare all-stars that I recommend swapping into your routine this season.

Rodial Dragon's Blood Cleansing Water and Laneige Cleansing Water

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water

When I start my night-time skincare routine, if I’m wearing makeup, I always make sure to remove it first before I go in with my cleanser. More often than not, I’ll go in with a micellar solution to break down the makeup and prep my skin for my cleanser.

The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water (C$45) hydrates and soothes the skin thanks to the rose water in the ingredients. This refreshing treatment (which smells quite lovely, might I add) removes makeup and impurities, as well as soothes sensitive skin, thanks to the added Dragon’s Blood. It also has Vitamin B3 to illuminate and even skin tone.

Laneige Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water

Similar to the Rodial version, Laneige also has a cleansing water which also comes in that convenient pump packaging (honestly, it makes getting the product on a cotton round so much easier).

Their Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water (C$31) is also gentle on the skin and uses micellar water powered by skin-brightening vitamins and berries to melt away makeup and maintain your skin’s moisture levels. The formula itself doesn’t have any mineral oil or synthetic colorants, and over time, the blend of vitamins B,C, and superberry extract helps to brighten and protect skin.

Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Toner

Fresh Beauty Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence

This toner from Fresh Beauty is my newest skincare obsession. I’ve chatted about the Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence previously (read post here), and although it’s expensive (C$85 for a 150ml bottle), it will do wonders for your skin.

So aside from the delicious kombucha scent, this treatment has eight benefits in one amazing liquid product. It provides anti-pollution and antioxidant protection, increases skin’s luminosity, reduces the look of fine lines, refines the appearance of pores, improves elasticity, smooths skin’s texture, boosts skin’s healthy tone, and provides 24-hour moisture. I mean, what else could you possibly want from a product?

I typically apply this after my cleanser to get rid of any leftover makeup that my cleanser didn’t quite remove, and to prep my skin for my eye cream, serums, and moisturizers.

Shiseido Ultime serum and Rodial Lip Sleeping Mask

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate

You can really never have enough serums.

Since there’s literally a serum out there for everything, it’s not unusual for me to incorporate multiple ones into my everyday routine. When I saw that Shiseido had a new one out, I was super intrigued to give it a try.

The Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate (C$125) is a serum for all skin types that hydrates, strengthens and firms, and defends against daily damage, while at the same time boosting your moisturizer.  Just like so many other skincare products out there right now, this will also help with fighting daily environmental aggressors like pollution. The formula was actually developed in tandem with Harvard scientists and contains reishi mushroom and iris root extract for 28 per cent stronger skin in one week. Shiseido recommends to use this treatment to supercharge your other serums and moisturizers, so apply this one after your toner.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Finally, my very last step in my skincare routine is an easy one, apply some lip balm! I’m not too picky usually with what I use; as long as it keeps my lips moisturized, I’m happy.

Recently I’ve been using and loving Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (C$24), a leave-on mask that hydrates and smoothes the lips while you’re sleeping. This creamy balm sticks on the lips and is enriched with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and minerals to lock in moisture. The product itself comes with a little applicator that you can use to shovel a little bit of the product out to coat the lips (a little goes a long way).

This is kinda pricey for a lip balm, but honestly, this little container will last you a long time and the formula is really luxurious, creamy, and hydrating. I highly recommend picking this up, you will not regret this one.

Although I’ve been absolutely loving my Tula products, I’ve just been pretty much using the cleanser, serum, and moisturizer, with these other products thrown in for the most optimal, luxurious skincare routine.  I highly recommend checking these products out this season; most of them are on the newer side, and trust me, your skin is going to love you after a few days of use.
