Fall faves! Five beauty items you need for fall

title

Where did the year go? Seriously, I feel like we just cracked open that champagne celebrating 2016. Although it seems like this year is all but gone, I’m so excited it’s finally fall.  Autumn is my absolute favourite season; from everything pumpkin, to the cool weather, to the leaves changing, chunky sweaters, tall boots and leggings, and most of all, Halloween!  I just get so excited just thinking about it.

With the hemlines getting longer, the sun going down earlier, and the the colour palettes getting darker, it’s time to change up your beauty routine. Fall is all about dark lips, dramatic nails, musky scents, and lots of moisture.  Here are my top five beauty picks you need this season.

lips-and-nails

Bold nails

Summer calls for neons and brights, fall is all about darks and neutrals. Try a deep berry, black, taupes and darker-toned nudes. I have a few faves for the autumn season, Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamoured Hi-Shine Nail Polish in Blacquer (a creme shiny black), OPI Infinite Shine polish in Lincoln Park After Dark (creme dark eggplant purple) and You Don’t Know Jacques (a creme taupe).

Deep lips

A dark lip colour is a must for when the weather gets colder. Although I’ve forever been on a nude and baby pink kick, I’ve been loving deep berries lately. Sport the trend with Maybelline Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds in Midnight Merlot and Mauve It, both of which are very long lasting on the lips. I also have been loving Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge in C506, a dark purple, and Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick in Leo (this may have been LE for her bday collection, but try Kourt K, also a dark purple).

perfumes

Musky scents

Put away the fruity and floral, fall is all about dark, musky scents. Think spicy, tobacco, bergamot.. I’ve been loving Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon, Rose and Black, The Body Shop White Musk (I love Red Musk for winter), and Thierry Mugler Angel (a forever favourite).

skincare

Supple skin

With the weather getting colder, that means you’ll need to really focus on your skincare. Cold, dry weather sucks the moisture out of your skin, and although we aren’t in the thick of it yet, it’s always good to take some precautions early.

For the body, I’ve been loving Mereadesso Beautiful Body Balm, which is a high-performance non-greasy all-over body balm. Not only does it dry fairly quickly, but it’s blended with eight vitamins and minerals, as well as 28 globally sourced botanical extracts.  It’s also good for cellulite and stretch marks.

For the face, I’ve been using the Lise Watier HydraForce Hydra-Protective Creme-Gel, which contains Gaspe algae extract, which guarantees global skin hydration, acting as a defensive shield against external aggressors. I pair that with Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Serum, a lightweight serum that gives you instant moisture. It contains hyaluronic acid and velvet flower that work together for an intensive hydrating effect.  Skin feels comfortable and looks pumper, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

mens

Smooth and supple men’s products

Finally, for all the men out there, shorten your shower time with the Jack Black All-Over Wash for Face, Hair and Body, which is a mild cleanser so your guy can use it all over. To keep that beard in check, try the Jack Black Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather, which provides a luxe lather that lifts whiskers up, giving you a smooth, close shave. It contains a Triple Cushion technology with three protective layers of macadamia nut oil, glycerin, and soybean oil, it also has the skin treatments benefits of their Beard Lube technology, leaving skin soft, hydrate and refreshed.

I’m so excited to sport these trends with thick turtlenecks, tall boots and a grande PSL.  What are your favourite fall beauty trends?
