Well that was a busy weekend!

I’ve been looking forward to this weekend all spring as it was the Winnipeg Folk Festival, an annual festival held just outside Winnipeg in Birds Hill Park. There’s nothing that screams summer to me more than music festivals!

Although it’s an annual tradition here in the province, last year was the first time I have ever went,and although folk music isn’t usually my jam for everyday, I had so much fun just walking around, listening to toons, and just being a part of it all.

Since it’s a four-day festival I threw together some of my favourite festival looks to share. I only ended up going three out of the four nights due to a business trip in Ottawa, but three days were more than enough to get my festival fill anyways. The Friday night was the most exciting as Ryan Adams and Milky Chance hit the stage, whereas although I didn’t know the other artists for the rest of the festival, I still loved discovering new music.

The Friday night I wore a bodysuit from Topshop that had a cut-out in the back. I paired it with loose flowy pants from Nordstrom (by BP). For the shoes, I wore black sandals from Target (last year), and kept all my essentials (water bottle, blanket for lying down, jean jacket, phone charger, etc.) in a backpack by Herschel.

Festival fashion to me is all about looking hip, but still being comfortable. Think denim shorts, crop tops or body suits, kimonos, sandals, accessories, flash tattoos or face jewels, etc.

For the Saturday night (which was filled with rain 🙁 ) I wore an off-the-shoulder crop top by H&M (from their Coachella collection) and high-waisted tights from Nordstrom (by Zella). For the shoes, since I was getting eaten by mosquitos the whole Friday night, I wore these sequin sneakers by Keds x Kate Spade. I kept my waves from last night, which were lot more loose and boho and paired them with this gypsy headband I got off eBay.

For the makeup, the first night I went a little more dramatic with a rainbow-inspired look (I’ll have a post going up on that this week), whereas for the Saturday and Sunday night, I went with something more natural and glowy.

For Sunday, I chose to go with distressed cuffed jean shorts from Nordstrom (by BP), paired with a flowy floral-print blouse from Zara. I paired it with rhinestone flip flops from Target and gold reflective aviators from Nordstrom.

This was one of my favourite looks for the weekend, although it did get to be too hot with the blouse since the sun was in full force late Sunday afternoon. I love being comfy and jean shorts and a flowy blouse was probably the most comfortable look I had going on all weekend (no adjusting needed). The blouse was sheer at the back so although it can be suited for daytime office wear, it was the perfect look for a festival.

We do have a few music festivals here in Winnipeg, however, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is definitely the biggest and the only one I’ll be attending this year.

Keep a look out for a post festival-style makeup coming up on Wednesday.  Although it’s most convenient to actually wear these items to a music festival, you don’t need a special occasion to wear these looks. Keep the festival vibes going all summer long and just sport it as street fashion.
