Vamped: Getting glossy with MAC Cosmetics Vamplify glosses

MAC title I’ve never been a fan of MAC Lipglasses.

As much as I would love to say that I use my lip glosses, they are usually the ones shoved into the back of my lip products drawer. I like the feeling of not feeling anything on my lips. I also like vivid colour that lasts; I don’t want to worry about where my colour is. Is it still vibrant? Did it fade? Is it on my chin? No thank you.

Although I do own a few MAC Lipglasses, I’ve never liked the consistency of them. They’re sticky, so sticky that God forbid it be a windy day and you’re hair is down. Or if you own a dog that sheds a lot (ahem, me), you’ll find little white hairs stuck on your gloss.

Glosses

Anyways, this leads me to today’s post. I received a couple colours from MAC’s Vamplify lip glosses, a gloss infused with colour-boosting technology that gives you major colour on the first swipe. The formula is loaded with high-powered pigments that glisten with major shine. In addition to mega colour and high shine, it also contains a bunch of natural oils, including coconut, sweet almond, avocado, and sesame, making each gloss such moisturizing.

The two colours I received are definitely not for the faint of heart. How Chic is This? is a violet purple that is so stunning and glossy that you’ll be thinking of outfits to wear it with. This one is already available to purchase through MAC counters and online.  The other colour I received is part of the seven new shades launching on July 14 through August 25, 2016 (online on July 7, 2016), Saucy Miss, a navy blue.

Wands

Since navy blue isn’t really a conventional colour to wear for everyday, I’ve definitely been sporting How Chic is This? way more. The colour goes on so opaque and shiny. The only other gloss I’ve ever seen this shiny was the Marc Jacobs Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyls, which I don’t believe they even make anymore.

Saucy Miss is beautiful in the tube, and definitely on the lips as well, however, it’s very hard to wear and maintain. As you can see in the swatches below, it does go on quite patchy, and just like black lipstick, it can be hard to keep it looking fresh throughout the night. I have the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Echo, also a navy blue, which I never wear because of this factor, although I think Saucy Miss would look amazing overtop of the liquid lipstick since they are the same shade.  I also think that they would keep that vibrant navy blue a lot better if they were layered as well. As for How Chic is This?, that’s not really a factor, since when it fades it still looks fine, just a bit stained. A faded navy lip isn’t that cute, trust me.

Although the shine doesn’t stay forever, as it fades away there is still a nice sheen of colour, similar to a stain. Best of all, it’s not that sticky compared to other MAC glosses; major score!

Saucy miss How Chic is This?

These retail for C$24 each and although there’s lot of bold colours (reds, oranges, purples, blues), there’s tons of pinks and nudes that I may just have to get my hands (er lips..) on.

Make sure you check out the new colours when they hit MAC counters this month, and if you’re into bold, fun colours, then maybe Saucy Miss is right up your alley ;).

Are you excited for MAC Vamplifys to hit counters? Have you tried them before?

Please note, I was sent these products from PR. All opinions are my own.
