Summertime beauty for me is all about being natural.

Usually when the hot weather comes around, it’s all about minimal makeup, letting my skin shine through, and making my hair centerstage. I don’t like the feeling of having so much makeup on my face and then going out into the humidity only to have it feel heavy and feel like it’s melting off.  Since I like keeping it minimal, that means that my skin has to be in tip-top shape.

P&G Beauty sent over a wealth of new beauty products for summer (along with a cute beach tote and pineapple sippy #die) and it couldn’t have come at a better time because this past weekend was Canada Day, which meant lots of sun, pool parties, BBQs, etc., aka my favourite things about summer.

Start your day in the shower (maybe after a morning run or workout class), and wake up with Olay Fresh Outlast Cooling White Strawberry & Mint Body Wash, which is made with essential oil fragrances that provide a fresh clean and an amazing scent. From there, get those legs nice and smooth for shorts weather with the Gillette Venus with a Touch of Olay Violet Swirl Shave Gel, which contains an advanced formula enriched with moisturizers to leave your kin feeling flawless and hydrated. Pair the mini can of the shaving gel with the Venus Snap with Embrace Razor, which is perfect to toss into your gym bag or overnight bag for a weekend at the lake.

After the shower, dry your hair and apply your favourite styling products along with a volumizing mousse, such as the Pantene Pro-V Volume Body Boosting Mousse, which is perfect for those beach waves, and then set everything with Pantene Pro-V Anti-Humidity Air Spray, a must for hot weather! Air Spray is great since it’s the first alcohol-free aerosol hairspray on the market. This one is ultra lightweight and is designed to calm frizz and unruly hair.

For the face, start off with a cleanser, such as Olay Deeply Clean Pore Mineral Cleanser, which draws out impurities for a deep down-to-the-pore clean. It also controls shine and reduces the appearance of pores using a natural Kaolin clay formula. After, choose a moisturizer with an SPF, such as Olay Total Effects Seven in One Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 or Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculping Cream SPF 30.

Finish off your look with a BB cream, some bronzer and gloss, and grab your swimsuit and hit the beach! I actually spent all Saturday at a friend’s pool and used a lot of these products to prep. At night we came back to my place and had a BBQ, as well as sipped on pina coladas made with Captain Morgan Coconut Rum, new for summer 2016.

Although the pina coladas were flowing freely, we also had a few more summer-inspired drinks made with the coconut rum, which has a creamy taste of fresh coconut with a background of citrus and tropical fruit blend. My favourite was the Captain’s Breeze, made with 1.5 oz of Captain Morgan Coconut or Pineapple flavoured rum, 1 oz. of Cranberry Juice, and 1.oz. of Pineapple Juice. Place it in a martini shaker with ice and then sprinkle some club soda on top to make it fizzy.

I’m so happy that July has two long weekends, because after this past one, I’m needing another three-day long weekend stat.
