Summer has arrived!

When it comes to nail polish colours, the hot weather means lots of brights! So it’s a no brainer that OPI’s newest collection is full of them.

OPI Retro Summer has six limited-edition creme shades that will make you want to hit the beach, grab an ice cream, or take a drive to the coast. This collection officially launched June 1 and is definitely worth picking up.  When I received the collection I did find the colours to be just meh looking at them in the bottle, but once they were swatched I fell in love with most of the shades.

The application on these was pretty good, most of the shades went on opaque after two coats. Two of the colours, Sailing & Nailing (the blue) and Towel Me About It (the yellow) are quite thin, so three of four coats got these looking solid on my nails.

As always, OPI nailed it with the shade names. I couldn’t get over how cute Flip Flops & Crop Tops was. With that being said, I feel like they could have also called this collection Sexy Summer, as a couple of the names I thought were a little risqué, namely Sailing & Nailing and SPF XXX. A little out of the box for OPI.

But enough of that, let’s get onto the swatches…

My favourites from this collection are definitely What’s the Double Scoop?, Towel Me About It,  Sailing & Nailing, and Flip Flops & Crops Tops. None of the colours are that original, but then again with the wide variety of nail polishes out there, is there a colour we haven’t seen before?
