Balm.com: CoverGirl TruMagic The Sunkisser and The Luminizer

Title

With spring finally in our sights, brands are coming out with products perfect for the season. CoverGirl is no different. As part of their TruBlend line, they came out with three TruMagic balms: The Sunkisser, a bronzing balm; The Luminizer, a highlighting balm; and The Perfector, a mattifying balm.

These balms are creamy at the touch, but once applied they seem more like a powder.  You can wear them alone or under or over makeup.

I haven’t tried The Perfector but it has gotten some major buzz as it mattifies your skin.  I have both The Sunkisser and The Luminizer and I was so excited to get my hands on these because bronzing balms have been around for a while, but I’ve never seen them released from a drugstore brand. I feel like every YouTuber and their dog had the Chanel Tan de Soleil a few years ago, but seeing as how it was a department store product, it didn’t come cheap.  I didn’t need a new bronzer, but being a beauty blogger (and makeup hoarder) I just had to have it.

The Sunkisser is quite dark in the packaging but don’t let that fool you, it goes on sheer, but it’s buildable.  With that being said, this stuff works for me because I have pale skin (L4 in CoverGirl’s TruBlend foundation).  If you are in the darker shades, I would skip this because it won’t show up on your skin.  Truth be told, I have a love-hate relationship with this product.  I really like it when I first apply it, but a few hours later it gets splotchy, so much so that my coworker told me that there was something wrong with my face.  I have set it and I’ve worn it by itself, but for some reason, this keeps happening when I use it.

Splotchy

As for The Luminizer, this one looks yellow in the package but it does go on sheer.  With that being said, it’s full of shimmer and definitely noticeable. Again, this product is very buildable, and I feel that it would be perfect for darker skin tones.  It did work for me, but personally I prefer a pink-toned highlight, but I did like it and will continue to wear it (it’s gonna be perfect for summer!).

Overall I do like these products but be careful with them.  I would recommend The Luminizer if you are a darker skin tone, but with that being said, you could definitely skip The Sunkisser as it most likely won’t show on your skin (unless you are pale like me).  I do like The Sunkisser when it’s first applied, but as I mentioned, it all goes downhill after a few hours.  I plan on wearing this more in the summer months with a BB cream just to keep everything light and we will see how it works then.
