When it comes to removing hard-to-get-off makeup I live and swear by my beloved cleansing oils.  Ever since I first tried out the Shu Uemura cleansing oils back in 2012, I was seriously hooked on the stuff.  You apply it to your dry face, work it into your skin, apply water, and watch as all your makeup melts away, leaving you with refreshed, clean skin.

I love my Shu cleansers so much that I haven’t even bothered trying another brand, as why reinvent the wheel, right?  Well, L’Oreal Paris has been stepping up their game recently and introduced a number of new products that are putting their department store counterparts a run for their money.

Recently introduced, the L’Oreal Paris Sublime Radiance Sensational Cleansing Oil removes traces of makeup and impurities to reveal skin that looks hydrated, sublime, and glowing.  The oil formula removes traces of makeup — yes, even waterproof — for your face and eyes.

So how does it compare?  The texture is about the same as the Shu cleansing oils and it’s about the same colour as Shu’s Ultim8 Sublime line.  I used two pumps of the product, which was enough to remove everything. I typically use my Clarisonic Mia with my cleansing oils to really penetrate the product into my skin, but for the purpose of this review, I just used it the regular way.

In comparison to the Shu Ultim8, I would say they are very similar.  They both removed my eye makeup and foundation, although I did have some makeup on the cotton pad once I used my toner for both products.  My skin definitely looked as radiant after using the L’Oreal version compared to the Shu.

What about price?  Well, for C$11.99, you can’t beat it, especially since the 150ml of a Shu cleanser can cost $49 and up (closer to the $100 range when you want the 450ml bottle).  At 150ml, it’s does give Shu Uemura a run for its money.  I do want to mention that the Shu cleansing oils are full of botanicals that benefit your skin, and come in a whole range of different formulas depending on skin type.  So no, they aren’t exactly the same, however, if you were just looking for a cleansing oil to remove makeup and make your skin more radiant, the L’Oreal version definitely does the trick.
