The Lash Diaries: Covergirl Flamed Out mascara

title mascara I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m a mascara snob.  If I buy a new mascara, the chances are that it’s going to be a department store one, or one you can find at Sephora.  I don’t have anything against drugstore, but I figure “if this mascara is expensive it must be amazing, right?”  Yeah, not always the case.

I received the Covergirl Flamed Out mascara in a goodie bag from the MMVA Beauty Bar in June but I never got around to trying it (plus I have like a million mascaras), so I gave it away to a friend.  I received another one (the waterproof version) during the Beauty United event last month, so I figured, why not?

I know that Covergirl Lash Blast has quite the cult following but I’ve never tried any Covergirl mascara so I didn’t know what to expect from this one.  The brush is curved, with the ends a lot thicker than the middle; this is to provide “maximum volume instantly, a bold winged-out lash look, and for the lashes to curve up and out”.

I can’t tell you how the regular formula works, but the waterproof one is pretty great.  I have tried other drugstore waterproof mascaras in the past and I didn’t think they did much for my lashes (not sure if it was that specific brand or just the formula).  This one is a showstopper.

Overall, for the price, this mascara does a heck of a good job.  It’s not the best mascara I have tried, but it’s a darn good one, especially since it’s drugstore.  I know from past experiences that waterproof mascaras aren’t as great as their regular counterparts, but if my lashes look this good with this formula, then I’m sure the original one is even more amazing.

Excuse the fresh-out-of-the-shower hair.

Have you tried Covergirl’s Flamed Out mascara?  What were your thoughts?
