Polished & perfect: Interview-ready beauty tips

Title

This week’s FASHION magazine Beauty Panel challenge was how to look polished and put together during a job interview.

I personally hate job interviews (seriously, who doesn’t?), and the jobs I have gotten tend to be from the interviews that were the most unconventional.  With that being said, those jobs (including the one I’m in now) have been my faves.

Now if you are in an office environment that stumps creativity, looking your best, and more importantly, looking like you, is the way to go.  I can have fun with my hair and makeup in the job I’m in now (publishing), but you better believe I didn’t do hot pink lips and dark eyeshadow at my job interview.

My tip for looking professional?  Keep it au naturale.  I chose to curl my hair using a clip-less curling iron because it gives me nice curls without that evil clip line and frizz.  Throughout the day, those tight curls will fall a bit and leave you with gorgeous natural-looking waves that will make you stand out from the competition.

As for makeup, Urban Decay’s Naked palette (the O-G) was the only way to go.  I chose a lighter foundation (Dior Diorskin Nude BB Cream), so my skin could really shine through, with a natural eye look (Sin on the lids, Buck in the crease, and Virgin as the highlight).  To wrap up the eye look, I did a cat-eye liner and some mascara.  I also put Buck along my lower lash line to create some depth.  I did a bit of contouring with Smashbox’s matte brozner and then popped NARS Orgasm on the cheeks for a bit of a glow.  For the lips I went with a pink lipstick (YSL Rouge Volupte in #19) that was enough to match my skin tone and make the look fresh.
