NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Raise Your Glass

Deborah Lippmann, plus Canada’s luxury department store?  Can’t get any better than that!

Recently, Holt Renfrew, Canada’s high-end luxury department store (similar to Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Barney’s, you get the idea), celebrated their 175th anniversary.  To commemorate the occasion, a few designers put out products exclusive to Holts to celebrate this milestone.  Among the many designers (most of which are some of my faves), including Christian Louboutin, Canada Goose, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and more (see the list here), one of my favourite nail polish brands, Deborah Lippmann, released a shade exclusive to the department store in their signature magenta colour.

Now if there is a shade that makes my heart a-flutter, it would have to be Holts magenta (well, and Tiffany blue – check out Essie’s Where’s My Chauffeur or China Glaze Aquadelic).  I could spend hours, if not days, in Holt Renfrew.  My city unfortunately has the world’s worst Holt Renfrew location, as they are just personal shopping suites and select makeup counters, but whenever I’m in a larger centre (Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, etc.) I always stop by the store and just take everything in (luckily I’m usually alone, so I’m not rushed – no one is allowed to rush me in Holt Renfrew). In fact, one of the items on my bucket list is to visit every location in Canada, I just have Ottawa and Quebec City to tackle, i’ve been to all the others.  I have been to many Sak’s, Neimans, etc., but none of them have the magic that Holts has.  Maybe because it’s in Canadian dollars, or maybe because it’s really the only nationwide luxury department store Canada has, but nothing can compare to Holt Renfrew.

Anyways, when I was in Vancouver a couple weeks back I knew I had to pick up the special edition Raise Your Glass varnish by Deborah Lippmann, a beautiful Holts magenta colour with glitter.  I also picked up a few other goodies as well, posts on those coming soon!

Alright, to be honest, this isn’t my favourite Deborah Lippmann shade.  I originally passed on the colour when I saw it at my local store, but when I was in Vancouver, I knew I had to get it.  Not so much because of the colour, but because it’s a special edition item.  I wouldn’t say it’s true to colour, and it’s certainly is not long lasting (chipped after one day), but it’s a collectors piece and I’m happy to have it in my collection.

If you can still find this polish at your local Holts location and if you are a die-hard fan like me, I would suggest picking it up.  It is a pretty colour and Lippmann really added some flair with the colour by including glitter, something she is famous for.  I mean, what kind of party would it be if there were no glitter?

Have you tried Deborah Lippmann’s Raise Your Glass?  If so, what were your thoughts?
